Summary: Fez as Keoki?
Review: Okay, I heard about Party monster when it was being made, but it was only until now, I had the chance to see it. I was very interested( due, to my own days as a "clubkid"). Unfortunitly, I was too young to experience the beginning of the Limelight. The directors did a wonderful job making the viewers feel like they were there themselves.Which made me glad that those days were long gone!
My friends dissed on Mac's performance as Alig, but honestly, I thought he did an amazing job.Wilmer Valderrama as Superstar DJ Keoki?Keoki was always known for his cockiness, and he totally does not have a foreign accent! That threw me off.I know it's a small detail, but if anytone knows anything about Keoki in real life, they probably would agrre. Otherwise, everyone who has been invovled in the club scene, this movie is a must!

Summary: Mac all grown up....
Review: I heard about "Party Monster" when it was being made from a friend. I was instantly interested because of my own experiences as a"clubkid".It wasn't until resently I saw the film.I wasn't familar with the Michael Alig crime at all. I truly enjoyed this movie so much I bought it the next day.I was not old enough at the time to experience the original Limelight days, but the directors did an excellent job capturing the vibe and to make the viewers feel like they were there.
The friends I watched the film with complained about Mac Culkin's performance. To be completely honest, I thought he was excellent, and very believable. I did not agree with the casting of Wilmer Valderrama as Keoki. If anyone reading this knows anything about DJ Keoki in real life,I'm sure you would agree with me.For one, Keoki doesn't have a South American accent, and he totally is not that down to earth.(Afterall, he is a superstar DJ!LOL).
With that aside, I would tell everyone to at least see Party Monster once. In my collection, it is now a classic.

Summary: Party Monster is a fun ride
Review: Ok, let me tell you something. If you want to watch this movie for the sole purpose of analyzing each aspect of it, go rent something else. If you want to pick apart Culkin's acting, or the over-the-top outfits, go ahead, but just realize that you will only make yourself look stupid.

A movie like this does not carry a depth that is dependent on the best acting or a tight plot. This movie, if anything, is an interesting peek at a world in which many of us did not acknowledge as part of Manhattan history-- a glammed up, drugged up, 24 hour party full of glitter, feathers and chunky shoes. It is an interesting peek into the world of Michael Alig's bizarre 15 minutes of fame as club kid extraordinare and drugged up murderer. If viewed with this in mind, it could be quite a fun ride to experience.

Basic story: Michael Alig (Culkin), as a young boy, moves to NYC from a small town in Indiana(?) to strike it big. He meets a young James St. James (Seth Green) and they strike up a friendship built on James' guidance and Alig's ambition. This said partnership grows into what would later be referred to as "the Club Kids", or Alig's followers comprised of partygoers dressed up in crazy outfits abandoning their troubles and all reason just to dance and get drugged up.

The club kids became notorious for having parties in random places (burger joint, the inside of a truck, you name it), all while looking fabulous. The club kids also became notorious for their drug use, especially of the drug Ecstacy. This drug use later became the downfall of Michael Alig and his friends, and led Alig to murder his drug dealer Angel over unpaid drugs.

What makes this movie interesting though, is the fact that such a bizarre story actually happened. The way in which Angel was killed and the way in which Alig and his club kids lived are comic-book crazy and unbelievable, but that's the point. The fact that this madness actually happened is half the fun.

And personally, I think Macaulay did a fine job acting -- hey, YOU try successfully acting out a drug addicted gay club kid. I think he pulled it off quite well. Seth Green, as always, proves himself as a good actor, and there is a special, ehh.. "appearance" by Marilyn Manson as well, so be sure to be on the lookout for that.

I watch this movie to forget about my troubles. To be distracted by Culkin walking around in a feather corset and Seth Green in a meat suit is great. I mean, there's no WAY that you will be able to find this entertainment in your backyard, folks.

Party Monster is great eye candy. As long as you remember that, and don't get too caught up in its loopholes or "bad acting", you should have a great time.

Summary: Macaulay is great- Seth is great-F&*% all the haters
Review: This is a really good movie. The costumes are outstanding, the performances by Macaulay, Seth, & Manson are great...piss on the haters. I am fed-up with the losers that trash Mac because he was super-successful in HA (get over it and move on you freakin losers). He is successful for a reason; because he is talented. Mac's role was a challenge because he played a FU, gay-homosexual, drug-addicted, murderer. Oh and by the way, he did a great job...so if you didn't like it you can eatadick. Buy this DVD.

Summary: Low, low budget movie
Review: After seeing the documentary on cable, I couldn't wait to see the movie. The movie lacked quality acting and did not flow well at all. The movie also lacked the nightclub seen, which was supposed to be, the basis of this movie. The beginning of this movie bored me and rest was not better. And by the way, what was with the man dressed as a rat telling the story and showing it on a video from a rat hole? I guess Disney had some input. See the original documentary. Use the DVD movie as a drink coaster.

Summary: The Drugs Made Him do it: He's really a great guy!
Review: I've watched both "Party Monster" as well as the documentary "Party Monster - The Shockumentary." While I found both interesting I was primarily struck by how much people effort people have gone in order to tell the world how "fabulous" Michael Alig was in his heyday. One gets the impression that the makers of both films, along with the individuals he once associated with, almost think that it was kind of cute that he murdered a friend, dismembered the body, and then jokingly bragged about doing it to people around him.

In the documentary "Angel" is largely dismissed as a disposable individual, hardly worth missing. The only person who actually shed a tear for him being Angel's brother. I really doubt that Angel's brother would have agreed to be interviewed for the documentary if he had known the way they were going to glorify Michael Alig while simultaneously portray his brother as a desperate drug dealing poseur.

I think the film, rather than the documentary, was actually a bit more balanced. Wilson Cruz, Macaulay Culkin, and Chloƫ Sevigny were all incredible. Their performances were unbelievably good. Seth Green did OK, though all I could think about every time he came on screen was his appearance on Punk'd (for that matter all I could think of when Dylan McDermott came on stage was Bobby Donnel).

Regardless of the agenda, the two films probably complement each other. If I had to watch one of them again I would see the film rather than the "shockumentary" if for no reason that the opportunity to see Chloƫ Sevigny again.

I still think it is a bit scary when people justify a person's behavior by almost saying "well, he didn't really know what he was doing because he was on drugs. You can't really blame him because it was the drugs"

Summary: PARTY MURDER!!!
Review: THERE ARE MANY THINGS I LIKE ABOUT THIS MOVIE AND SEVERAL THINGS I DON'T LIKE. FIRST OFF, THE ACTING (BY BOTH SETH GREEN AND MACK CULKIN) WAS ABSOLUTELY HORRENDOUS. THEY LOOKED GREAT, JUST LIKE THE CHARACTERS THEY PORTRAYED (AS SEEN IN THE FILM "PARTY MONSTER: THE SHOCKUMENTARY"), BUT THEY JUST COULDN'T PULL OFF THAT ELUSIVE "SOMETHING" THAT MADE THE CLUB KIDS INTO "STARS." THE ACTORS WERE STIFF AND AWKWARD. EVEN MARILYN MANSON'S ACTING, WHO MADE A SOMEWHAT LONG CAMEO APPEARANCE AS CHRISTINA, A DRUG-ADDLED DRAG QUEEN, WAS BETTER THAN THE MAIN CHARACTERS'.

CULKIN, AS MICHAEL ALIG, THE SELF-CONFESSED MURDERER OF HIS DRUG DEALER, ANGEL, WAS FUN TO WATCH--HIS COSTUMES, HIS GORY PARTIES, HIS STRANGE, SEEMINGLY BISEXUAL RELATIONSHIPS WITH HIS "FRIENDS"..... BUT IN THE END, AFTER HE COMMITS THE MURDER, APPARENTLY UNDER THE INFLUENCE OF MIND-ALTERING DRUGS, HE IS JUST PLAIN SCARY.

THERE ARE SOME PRETTY GORY SCENES IN THE FILM, PARTICULARLY THE MURDER ITSELF, WITH MICHAEL'S ROOMMATE BASHING ANGEL'S HEAD IN WITH A HAMMER SEVERAL TIMES. AND THEN, FOR A HANDFUL OF DRUGS, MICHAEL ALIG AGREES TO CUT THE BODY UP INTO LITTLE PIECES AND DISPOSE OF IT. IT WAS REALLY VERY GROSS AND DISTURBING TO WATCH AND TO THINK ABOUT AFTERWARDS. FORTUNATELY, THEY KEPT THE DISMEMBERMENT MINIMAL.

OVERALL, I ENJOYED WATCHING THIS MOVIE. FOR SOME REASON, IT IS FRIGHTENINGLY FUN TO WATCH BEAUTIFUL, "FABULOUS," DRUG ADDICTS/DRAG QUEENS COMMIT MURDERS AND THEN JOKE ABOUT IT. (AND THEN THEY TURN AROUND AND MAKE MONEY OFF THE MOVIE, THE DOCUMENTARY AND THE BOOKS.)

Summary: Bad Set Bad Acting
Review: I think if you could get through the bad acting and the bad set then this movie might be ok. I remember watching this movie and in the very beginning saying to myself this is about as low budget as you could possible get. But the bad acting maybe it hard to follow. I guess all you can say is the Home Alone Boy has really grown up!!

Summary: Pretty Fierce, Sister
Review: This movie is pretty fierce, Seth Green and Mcaulay Culkin had me convinced that they were on drugs. This movie is very graphic, very hilarious, shows how messed up people are, and how much we love to watch them. I would have liked to have gone to one of their parties, unfortunately I never had a chance to check out the N.Y. party scene.

Summary: What a piece of crap!
Review: I only gave this movie 1 star because there was no way to give it zero stars. I hated this movie. Absolutely hated it. And I only watched about a half hour of it. I've never walked out of a movie or stopped watching a movie that I rented - even if I didn't like it. But after 30 minutes of this trash I turned it off. It was horrible! The acting was horrible and it was just plain stupid. I'm fairly indifferent to Seth Green as an actor...but what was he doing in this nonsense? People say that he made a good drag queen, but they're wrong. He and Macaulay Culkin were terrible at acting like gay guys. Gay guys don't even act like that! They tried to make their speech/mannerisms look natural, but they actually looked like they were SPOOFING gay guys. It looked like something that should have been a skit on Saturday Night Live. I think this movie is offensive to gay guys everywhere. Please....I BEG you....do NOT watch this movie! In case I didn't mention it...it sucked!
