Rating: Summary: The cutest movie ever Review: I love this movie. It's definitely one of my favorites. Laurence Olivier is awesome (of course). Diane Lane hasn't changed a bit since she was a kid. She still looks exactly the same. And Thelonious Bernard is absolutely adorable. You just fall in love with him more every time you watch this movie.
Rating: Summary: A Little Romance Review: Great story for both young and old. A tale of innocent love that should be the basis of all love relationships. The actors are classic and a great mixture of young and old. We have let our older children see a taped video and they never left the screen. Let's get it on DVD.
Rating: Summary: "Unfaithful" & "Perfect Storm" star DIANE LANE in her debut! Review: "A Little Romance" was the very first film to star the wonderful DIANE LANE who has since become a big star in films like "Unfaithful", "The Perfect Storm" and "Murder At 1600". She shows here, even at 12 years old, that she is a capable and beguiling actress. She plays Lauren with a quirkiness that is very cute and warming. LAURENCE OLIVIER is of course, brilliant as well and the two have a great chemistry. This film has grown in popularity over the years and now that DIANE LANE is an A-List star, maybe it will get a DVD release. A heart-warming and involving love story with great footage of Paris and Venice. Great! Very recommended!
Rating: Summary: i thought i was the only one Review: who loved this film...I agree...favorite movie of all time...my friends have never heard of and they think i'm crazy...but...i know I'm not...and now i know others love it too! Rating: Summary: Beautiful film Review: There is no way that I can improve upon the comments already noted for this great film. One actor not mentioned by name is the stepfather of Lauren, played by Arthur Hill. He also appeared in The Andromeda Strain as a scientist. A Little Romance is perhaps one of the most touching, innocent and remarkable films made on young love. Wouldn't it be nice if teenagers had movies like this to watch these days instead of the mean-spirited Hollywood claptrap that spews out from studios. I am overwhelmed that the film has elicited such great reviews from all of you. I knew that there were still some people out there with great taste.
Rating: Summary: Enchanting film Review: Enchanting is a good word for this George Roy Hill film. It follows a romantic relationship between a young American girl(Diane Lane) and a french boy she meets. It's really got that sort of "storybook" feel to it that makes it really resonate. Read some of the other passionate reviews for more details if you like, but I can't stress how much you should just watch it-you'll love it!
Rating: Summary: Superb, funny, heart-warming romantic comedy Review: And don't miss one of Olivier's finer movie performances! This is a tale of young love, with a pair of genuinely likeable young lovers, who are trying to escape the (largely clumsy) machinations of the grown-ups around them, and to make a binding promise of eternal love. Laurence Olivier plays an old man who becomes caught up in their tale, and decides to help them out. Many complications ensue. Oh -- and the sound track is just magnificent, plus lovely shots of Venice, Paris and other places in Europe. I really hope that a DVD of this movie is released soon. Highest recommendation! This one is really worth going out of your way to see.
Rating: Summary: dvd ever? Review: I love this movie, and have been waiting for it to be released on DVD. Does anyone out there know when/if that will happen?
Rating: Summary: This film is a winner! Review: I was 19 years old when I first caught this film on cable tv. By chance I had come across it while channel surfing, and it immediately caught my attention. Perhaps it was Lauren, or maybe the Parisian background. Whatever the case, the remote control was placed gently on the table, there to remain until the final, moving scenes of Daniel running behind the car waving goodbye, telling Lauren they would be together again. Alas, it wasnt meant to be (where was the sequel?), but what a story just as well. I recently got the video as a gift after telling my girfriend it belonged in my "top five" of all time. After seeing it again, I still feel that way. Though in all actuality that "top five" contains from 10 to 20, it is an exclusive list nonetheless. I would recommend this picture to anyone who has a tendency to dream from time to time, is young enough (at heart) to believe in those dreams, and can accept that, although this is fiction, it succeeds in allowing one to escape the reality of everyday life, chosing instead, to be young, carefree and full of hope. I loved it!
Rating: Summary: My Favorite Movie of All Time Review: I was fortunate enough to see ALR in the theatre. I went to see it on a hunch, but it was the last showing before it left town, and I was very frustrated at not being able to recommend it to friends because it was gone the next day. Thankfully, it was released on video, so I bought a copy and have shared it with many, many friends... all of whom love it.There's really nothing more I can add to all the wonderful reviews written here... just see it... especially if: 1) you are a romantic, 2) you had a sweet, innocent love relationship in your teens, 3) you believe in the soulmate concept, 4) any or all of the above
