Summary: Extremely interesting...
Review: This was actually a pretty good movie. I know it's just a movie and all, but I couldn't get past alot of the new age stuff like reincarnation. The whole movie would have been ten times better without the reincarnation junk.It was not a biblical portrayal of heaven or hell, but it's just a movie so I'm fine with that. The reincarnation just made the entire afterlife thing less permanent. Plus, would they remember their kids when they returned to heaven? Who knows? I really like how heaven and hell are portrayed, though...but this version of heaven is not to be taken seriously.

Summary: Excellent take on the afterlife...
Review: Chris ( Robin Williams) and Annie (Annabella Sciorra) Nielsen are crushed when their two kids Ian (Josh Paddock) and Marie (Jessica Brooks Grant) are killed in an automobile accident. One year later, Chris and Annie are still trying to work through it. If things couldn't get any worse for Annie, Chris is also killed in an automobile accident as well. With her husband and two children gone, Annie does not want to go on living and kills herself. When Chris goes to Heaven, he is confronted by a younger version of his best friend Albert (Cuba Gooding Jr)who explains to him that he died and that he can make Heaven whatever he wants it to be. Unfortunately, he also reveals that Annie has gone to Hell for committing suicide. Chris refuses to accept this, and becomes determined to bring Annie back so that he can spend all of eternity with his wife and two kids.

There have been many films that deal with the afterlife. However, I feel that What Dreams May Come did the best job illustrating the afterlife and what it can be like. The special effects are amazing in this film when it comes to showcasing Heaven and Hell. The overall story is extremely powerful because of Chris's determination to save his wife Annie. The film shows that the bond between soul mates is hard to break. This is also an extremely emotional film as well. I was bawling like a baby througout he film, and I rarely cry when watching a movie. All of the main actors - Robin Williams, Annabella Sciorra, Cuba Gooding Jr, and Max Von Syndow do a fantastic job in their roles.

Overall, What Dreams May Come is an amazing film. All of the actors involved are wonderful, the story is very powerful and emotional, and the special effects create a stunning and creative version of the afterlife. The DVD is very affordable and features amazing picture and sound quality. There is also a making of documentary, an alternate ending, and more.

A solid 5 stars...

Summary: ALL IMAGE
Review: What Dreams May Come has breath-taking visuals, and outstanding concepts of heaven and hell.
Unfortunately, that is all the film has to offer. True, it does have a story--but it plays second-fiddle to the visual imagery. Moreover, the stale acting by Williams and Gooding, Jr., does not make you care about the characters.

Summary: One Of A Kind
Review: This movie is like none other. It's more of a work of art than a movie. Like many great works of art, the meaning is often left up to the viewer. What's really important here is how the visual aspect of the film makes you feel. The storyline is secondary, and for good reason. It's hard to follow for one, what with the timeline jumping back and forth. For another, it's a journey into the arena of faith and theology with barely a mention of God. It's basically a hodgepodge of new age/reincarnation belief, psychobabble, and ultraromanticism. I consider the storyline nothing more than a tool to explore the possibilities of modern technology in moviemaking. In this regard this movie excels. An incredibly vivid imagination and adventurist spirit on the part of those who created this movie brought it from a 20 year old script to the finished product - a cinematic impressionist masterpiece. (Much of the artwork was actually taken from the works of Van Gogh and Monet.) This and the additional features provided on the DVD (an excellent mini-documentary on the making of the movie plus a couple of trailers and bios of castmembers and more) give it 5 stars. If you can actually get anything out of the story that's a bonus.

Summary: You've got to be kidding me!
Review: I was reading the online remarks about the movie and landed on one inpaticular I think the persons online name was Iwijaya. Obviously this person has no clue what it takes to really see a movie especially a movie as deeply moving as this one. Deeply moving to someone such as Iwijaya would have to be either a good bowel movement or one of these movies such as Friday. Don't get me wrong I laughed all the way through that movie, but know one said that this movie was suppose to be entertainment for someone that doesn't entertain easy. This was a very deep and compeling movie. If your interested in a movie that you only have to watch briefly while you have other things going on around you than this definetly isn't the movie for you! It is a real heart clencher, and it truely makes you think. So if your someone like Iwijaya who just isn't ready for a movie that, if opened minded, can really make you feel every emotion there is to feel, than I suggest something easy like Daddy Daycare or Finding Nemo something that won't really make you think but will give you a laugh. Maybe this film should have been rated for MATURE addience only!!!!:)Don't mean to cut you down I just can't fathom if you truley watched this movie it could have made you feel this way. I've watched so many movies and have never remarked to any except this one because it was so compelling. I beleive the actors should have won nominees for such outstanding acting. To see the intensity they put through in there characters was nothing short of amazing! Watch it again sometime and not only can you see it in there eyes but you can feel it in there soul, you have to be one fine actor to be able to portray such a tuff and compelling role and actually bring those characters to life!

Summary: The only movie that has ever truely moved me!
Review: I am shocked and astonished to hear so many critics complain about such an amazing movie!! I don't know maybe it's because there's so many religious people out there that were appauled by something different like life after death, but who really knows it was just a movie and a very compelling one at that. If people who just be open minded and watch the movie w/out reservations they would see a beautiful movie with fantastic acting and wonderful special effects, the movie will take you reeling on a roller coaster ride of emotions. Open up take in all it's beauty and superb acting than you will see one of the most incredible movies of our time. It did not get the recognition it desirved and I believe that has a lot to do with the whole religion aspect. For those of us with a fear of dieing this just gives us a little something to hope for in the after life. I've never had a movie truely move like this one. So all you skeptics open your mind a little bit and let this movie in, because it truely is beautiful!!!!!

Summary: Visually spectacular (unbelievably cheesy storyline)
Review: I know "What Dreams May Come" is a constant punching bag for movie critics alike and it wasn't exactly a blockbuster smash for Robin Williams but I sincerely like this film. I first saw "What Dreams May Come" when it was in the movie theaters. It was total eye candy with the gorgeous colors and the art-like quality. I felt like I was watching an artist creating his art work. The premise of the film is a bit silly. Robin Williams's character Chris is killed in a freak accident, leaving his emotionally unstable wife Annie played by Annabella Sciorra devasted and alone. The viewer also finds out that their two children were killed earlier in a car accident so when Chris dies, Annabella is completely consumed by grief and chooses that life is not worth living any more. Chris is sent to heaven which is basically a Monet painting. The bright vivid colors were stunning and made it a joy to watch. Cuba Gooding Jr. welcomes Chris into the after life and eventually helps Chris in his quest to find Annie. At the time, I enjoyed the storyline but as I was watching it tonight on tv, I never realized until now just how hokey the storyline and dialogue could be. Despite the hokiness of the film, I still enjoy watching "What Dreams May Come". I think my favorite scenes had to be when Chris literally went to purgatory. The images and colors were spectacular. Those scenes of people falling from the waves as well as from the air and exploding when hitting the ground was stunning to say the least. Those scenes were pure eye candy. "What Dreams May Come" is a good movie. It isn't nowhere as emotionally manipulative as "Patch Adams" was except maybe for a few scenes that involved the children. Otherwise "What Dreams May Come" is a good popcorn movie. It may not be Masterpiece Theater but I will take this movie over something as tripe as "Patch Adams" or overblown as "Armaggedeon" any day.

Summary: Emotional, Life Changing
Review: While the entire suicide theme is a bit controversial, I have to say that this was an excellent film. It had such depth and pulled at the core of our emotions. It left us realizing that suicide truly is not the correct choice. There is always hope in life. Robin Williams went out on a limb with this film, but I believe it was a courageous choice as it will help heal many lives.
