Summary: Terrific, compared to other Teen-flicks!
Review: I decided to buy this movie two weeks ago because it's about football and James Van Der Beek is in it. And this movie rocks! I didn't expected it to be that good. It's so much better than most High School-Teenie-Dramas. Varsity Blues is surprisingly subtle and Van Der Beeks performance is great. But not only Van Der Beek is great, John Voights and the whole casts performances are good as well. The dialogues are very realistic and funny, the plot is exciting, though you know how it's going to end. The soundtrack is terrific and the visualisation brilliant compared to other teen-flicks.

Summary: Great Football Movie
Review: When I first saw "Varsity Blues", I was really hard in judging it. I've grown up around football all my life and now I am a varsity coach, so I can be a harsh judge of all things football.

I can admit now after seeing it a few times that it is a fun, exciting, and realistic portrayal of what some towns are like for football.

The young actors are very good, the action scenes are second only to "The Program" and the comedy is very reminiscent of "American Pie" style teen humor. If you just want to rent a fun and enjoyable flick, this is a good bet.

Summary: A Great movie
Review: I play football in a small town with a coach very similar to John Voight's character. I just sat there and shook my head at how close they were to what happens where I live. It is a close portrayal of what happens in a small town where High School football is the only thing that matters and what everyone in the town is pulling for. Our whole town is at every home football game. It gives you a great look at some of the pressure that parents and a town can put on a student-athlete. It is no wonder some can't deal with it. This makes for a very realistic and adrenaline rushed movie. The camera work when they are playing under the lights gives you a feeling of what it is like on a friday night football game. Some great acting and some beautiful girls in this movie, and some memorable quotes from some of the actors. This is one that you shouldn't miss. You should at least rent it, if not buy it.

Summary: Explosive Football Movie
Review: This is a must for any and all football fan and especially for anyone who ever played highschool football. A true to life tale of what happens behind the scenes of highschool gridiron and in the lives of those youngmen who brave to take the field. Outstanding performances by John Voight and James Van Der Beek. With an explosive soundtrack to back up every tackle this movie will have you cheering every touchdown and booing every penalty.

Summary: THERE'S NO REASON TO SING THE BLUES AFTER WATCHING THIS
Review: I was suprised that I actually liked this film. I thought it would be a little stupid movie only teens would like. I was wrong. A great performance was given by James Van Der Beek. I've also notice that Jon Voight is making some great films lately. He was terrific in this. And I though he was great in Enemy of the State. This is a great movie,so I hope that no one thinks this is a dumb teen movie, like I did. IT'S WORTH THE WATCH.

Review: Varsity Blues was the best movie I've seen in a long time. I went to see this movie initally because James Vander Beek was in it but I watch it over and over because it is such a great movie. Jon Voight was excellent as was the rest of the cast. This movie kept your attention the hole time. I highly recommend it to any movie fan.

Summary: this movie is tight as hell
Review: This movie rocks. I've seen it with my boys like 6 times. The DVD picture quality borders on perfection and the sound is nothing short of amazing. This is one of the best movie on DVD I've ever seen. It's not really a movie for football diehards though if you want a movie like that see Any Given Sunday. For the rest of us Billy Bob 4eva!

Summary: Varsity Blues Scores!
Review: As a high school senior in a small Texas town, I can appreciate the honesty involved in this movie. I can also say that this movie is NOT just for the teen generation...my dad I watch it together, and we both love it! If you love football, high school, and even if you hate them both, this is one movie you MUST see. (Sorry DVD lovers- the special items aren't so special on this particular movie!)

Summary: Let's ROLLLLLLLLL!
Review: If you like football, then you want to see this movie. Being both a film undergrad and an ex-high school football player, I believe I am more than qualified to review this film. My opinion is that this is simply the greatest football film ever made, and believe me- I've seen just about all of them. Varsity Blues portrays the hits, polotics, mental game, emotions, and consequences every football player is faced with more vividly than anything I have evr seen before. It is also the first movie that has had the balls to truly capture the essence of my generation (class of 98).
