Summary: Why re make it???
Review: Whe I heard that the folks at ABC were remaking "Brian's song",
I was really upset... Why tamper with success, and why remake one of the most beautiful movies ever! I saw Brian's song during its original broadcast back in 1971, and thought it was one of the best. James Caan and Billy Dee Williams are superb as Brian Piccolo and Gale Sayers. The supporting cast, including Shelly Fabares as Joy and Judy Pace as Linda are also excellent as is Jack Warden as Papa Bear Halas. If you really want to see this movie go for the original!

Summary: A Very Lovely Screen Play& Movie
Review: When I was younger I had to read the screen play of Brian's Song, a very heart warming play. I loved it! Two years later I saw the movie; it was even better!!!!

Summary: What Tears?
Review: While I admit this is a good "made for t v movie" it left much wanting in the way of continuity. It was a good review about a chapter in the career of Gale Sayers but it left me wanting for more. While I am sorry for the death of Brian Piccolo I was not moved to tears myself, perhaps because at middle age I've seen several close friends and relatives die over the last few years. I guess when death is real and frequent, one becomes inured to it in make believe televison or theater. James Cann, Jack Warden, and Billy Dee Wiliams all do great jobs in acting but sorry folks, it just did not make me cry.

Summary: Superbv
Review: Years go by and repeated viewings only confirm the fact that this is a tremendously moving film. The compact script is superb, the performances touching. The rarest of breeds, an honest tearjerker. And to think that this was originally a TV movie...
