Summary: With long hair or short...FELICITY always ruled!!!
Review: I loved this show so much! Every season got better and better. So I'm really looking forward to each subsequent season on DVD. I just really wished we all could have watched Felicity go into the real world, after watching her change so much in college. It's a shame the ratings tanked after Keri cut her hair (hello! it does grow back folks) and the "Winter Breaks" to TRY to give Jack&Jill a chance...but while it was on, I relished every hour. As well as the talents of the entire cast; both Scotts were just great...so great in fact that I'd be happy with whoever she ended up with. Anyway, it's about time a truly great show get a rebirth. So everyone that stopped watching after "the cut" can take advantage of Felicity on DVD (by the way once out of the awkward stage of growing, in my opinion her hair looked way better...b4 it looked like it could attack and kill bystanders).
Fans & the WB lost a lot when Felicity graduated.

Summary: The Amazing Felicity
Review: Okay, so I never went away to college. I went locally and bunked with the parents. When this show came out in '98 my sister, who did go away to college, told me about it. I was skeptical, thinking that I could and would never enjoy a show that I couldn't possibly relate to or understand. I was wrong. I started watching around episode 7. I was totally hooked. The characters were amazing and the scripts so well written. The acting was flawless. Every Sunday my sister and I would have a date with the TV. I don't think I missed a single episode. But, I was thoroughly bummed when the show ended. (Although, I thought that if they had continued it would be hard to pull off.)
I LOVE that I now can own all the shows and have them forever. I can watch them over and over again. I have a daughter who is three, and I can't wait to watch them all with her someday.
For some reason this show has touched me to the core. I am not sure why, but it has and does. It's worth every penny and hour spent watching.

Summary: Wonderful College Years Relived on DVD
Review: I just finished watching my dvd set of season one and it just made me remember how compelled I was to watch this show every week when it debuted in the fall of 98. It was my third year in university and I identified so much with felicity and her longing for someone she wanted so bad. Not having seen the show since the first season years ago, I forgot how much I loved Keri Russell and all the drama surrounding her neuroticism and the ongoing Ben - Noel fiasco. The first season really almost could stand on it's own without continuing the story into the following seasons. Though the season ending cliffhanger means I have to buy season 2 so I can find out how felicity's college years continued to play out. Even though the show ran for only four years, it was a rather appropriate run for a show set in college. Anything more and it would have been a bit contrived.

Summary: A fantastic season! Unfortunately not great on dvd.
Review: What makes this show so enjoyable is how fast pace it is. When I first watched it I expected another 'dawson's creek', typical teen moving with bad script writing.
What I discovered was an exciting show with script lines matched perfectly and humourously with the characters and their personalities.
Every episode is a delight and deals thoroughly with university life.

That said this season is one of the best. Overall it is hard to judge one season from the next - season 2 was also pretty cool. Rather, the show acts as an epic. However this season is extremely funny. The episode where felicity and the gang study in the library is a hoot and a half. A stand out moment is when Noel downs one of meghan's recipes to help you study, containing an ingredient Noel is alergic to, Beets! Nervously he runs about the library with the a humourous christmas song chiming 'jingle jangle...'

The dvd is quite lacklustre. For its price it's not too bad but one might expect more features (much more), more quality picture and sound, and respect to the original soundtrack. The redo of the music takes away the diversity it had, and the reflection of teen music (popular and unpopular). The new edited music seems somewhat out of place.

However if you're looking to own the first season of felicity regardless of the above problems it's a season well worth the buy. I'm just happy to see it available on dvd now.

Summary: Spend a day with Felicity
Review: I am a fan of several television series, but never have I wanted to see a show as often and even repeatedly the way I do with Felicity. The series was clever, fun, and interesting throughout the four-year run.

It is a shame Felicity could not have continued another season or two, but we can enjoy this DVD set of this first season. Sit back and spend a day catching up with Felicity! You'll have a great time.

The second season may be released on DVD in May. Be sure to pick it up too because we want to make sure we show there is a demand for the third & fourth seasons on DVD!

This DVD does not have a lot of extras. The menus are very nice and there is producer commentary for the Pilot and season 1 finale. That is all the bonus content, but the season 2 set is rumored to have more bonus material. Lets hope it is released in May and that the third & fourth seasons follow shortly.

Summary: Modern Classic, A must Have!!!
Review: This is one of my favorite series of all time. I never saw the first season because I really started watching the series in its second season, so I was really glad when I learned last November that the almost impossible has happened, 1st season of Felicity is coming to DVD. And my love for the series just grew even more after watching the first season. Most of the very best episodes of the series is in season one.

Standout episodes are The Pilot (one of the very best pilots of any series I've ever seen), Finally (my absolute favorite of all time), Gimme an O! (another all time favorite of mine), Boggled, Thanksgiving, Friends, Spooked, The Force (love this one), and of course the finale Felicity was Here. I strongly recommend the first season because really there is no single weak episode in the season 1.

Keri Russell did a marvellous job, she is just perfect for the part, I cannot imagine anyone playing Felicity better than her. She is surrounded by a great supporting cast. The two Scotts are just perfect for their roles. The triangle among the three never really took the center stage this season until the finale.
Amy Jo Johnson's Julie had her biggest storylines in season one (rape, birth mom) and she was great in all of them. And two of my favorite supporting casts Amanda Foreman and Tangi Miller just started to steal scenes when given the right materials. Amanda in "Happy Birthday" and "Boggled" though were small parts were just hilarious, and who can forget her box? Tangi Miller in episodes like Friends (her boyfriend cheats on her) and Assassins (hilarious and cute in here) was just fantastic. And lets not forget Ian Gomez' Javier who is just another scene stealer.

Sadly the Dvd didn't have a lot of bonus features, I would really love to see the documentary on the making of the show, some interviews with the cast, or bloopers but instead we have to be contented with two commentaries by the creators on the pilot and finale. It was a very interesting commentary, definitely worth a listen. Another thing that should be noted is that a lot of music in the season 1 has been changed, since I never really watched the original airings of these epsiodes, I cant really detect the changes. But it would still be better to watch them with their original music, but hey Im just happy I was able to see the first season. So I dont feel like complaining.

To wrap it up, just buy this one. This is the type of DVD where
repeated viewing is guaranteed, so it is really worth every penny.

Summary: Surprising! Amazing! Better then what I thought it would be.
Review: I normally don't write reviews. Mainly because I don't watch enough movies and such to consider myself someone who has enough knowledge to be able to write them. This time it's different though. This time I had to put my one penny worth of information in.

I was walking around a video store, not to long ago, trying to decide what to get myself with my not so hard earned Christmas money. I saw this nice little box seat of DVD's entitled "Felicity." I looked over it and, to be honest, I wasn't very impressed. I started to sit it back on the shelf when the manager of the store came by and smiled. "Ah, Felicity..." he said to me. "My family and I have spent many hours watching that show. It's one of the best family show's I've ever seen. Highly recommended. Just be warned, the first season, the one your holding in your hand, is the best season. It all goes downhill from there on." Thanking the man I bought the DVD set just to satisfy my curiosity. I had known Keri from my younger Mickey Mouse Club Days and figured at the least I could see how she has matured as an actress over time. Besides, if I happened to not like it I could always sell it.

When I got home and popped that first DVD into my DVD player. That folks was all it took. I ended up watching dang near 4 hours worth of episodes (that's right around 4 of the 22) and my viewing habits of it didn't decrease either. Within a week I had finished viewing the series and I was uetterly amazed at how engrossed I had become in it.

To start with, the characters are VERY realistic and the situations that happen are EXTREMELY realistic. It's about college life, and perhaps one of the best shows that I've ever seen that has ever truly represented what college life can be like. Though it does contain a love story (quite a love triangle actually), the story unfolds step by step nicely and in a very even flow and you never feel like things are being rushed or are happening just to act as a filler. Every episode brings out more character and advances the major plot lines.

The viewing quality for the most part is excellent as is the sound. There was one episode, I believe, that was a little dark, but that didn't bother me in the least little bit

Overall, I give this two thumbs up and an easy five. Many great hours of family viewing with this one and many life lessons to learn from it as well.

All I can say is, I'm looking forward to season two should it ever arrive.

Summary: Impressed!
Review: I'll just preface this by saying how much I love sleep. How is this relevant? You'll see.

I bought this set of DVD's having only seen a few episodes before of Felicity - which, ironically, was because the show aired in a time slot that interfered with my much-loved sleep.

I had been on a recent Scott Speedman kick, having watched "Underworld" for the 50th time, so I picked up the series Season One for more fodder. (Hey, I write fiction on the side. He's good guy material! Sue me.)

I watched an episode or so per evening, until about halfway through the season, and then BAM. For two nights in a row I was up until 1:00 A.M. because I Wanted To See What Happened. If you knew me, you'd know it takes an Act Of God to get me to stay awake past 9:00 P.M. - but I just couldn't stop watching! The characters speak naturally, and there are real college issues addressed in much of the series. It isn't just love triangles and fluff, which is nice. The dialogue is terrific (and quite often hysterical) too.

If you're still on the fence about it, let me just say the last two episodes of Season One will pay for the whole set. Well written, well acted, charged with tension, and totally worth it. Enjoy!

Summary: The train wreck that was Felicity Porter's freshman year
Review: It was interesting to go back and watch the freshman year of "Felicity" again on DVD, knowing who Felicity (Keri Russell) was going to end up with at the end of not only the first season but the entire series. You have to understand that I was always rooting for Noel (Scott Foley) over Ben (Scott Speedman) and ended up caring for Julie Emrick (Amy Jo Johnson) more than Felicity, even before she made the wrong choice. But then the first season of "Felicity" is all about wrong choices and the human train wreck that is Felicity Porter. Our local cable company lost its WB affiliate all I ever got to see of the second season was the first episode where I was outraged by the revelation of Felicity's decision and took a perverse satisfaction in the infamous hair cut. But then my anxiety was quickly shifted to finding friends or relatives around the country who could tape "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" for me and I quickly forgot about "Felicity." When we got the WB back I caught a few of the finale episodes, including the "time travel" ones, which brought the whole first season back to light again.

Once upon a time a young girl named Felicity finally got the nerve after her high school graduation to finally go up and speak to the good lucky guy she always had a crush on. He signed her yearbook and what he wrote was enough to have her decided not to go to Stanford to study to be a doctor but to head to New York to follow the boy, Ben. The big public comment on the first season was that if you reversed the two roles you would have the story of a stalker. But since it was a girl doing the stalking and because she had wonderful ringlets of curly hair, the behavior was apparently okay. More importantly, Felicity pays for her actions in those first three episodes, where she crashes and burns at just about each and every opportunity, and the show is more about getting away from her parents than it is about pursuing Ben Convington.

Unlike "Twin Peaks," where the hook ended up destroying the series, "Felicity" avoids the mistake and comes up with the most credible job of showing what college is like on television since "The Paper Chase" (which was really on point only if you were in law school). The episode "Cheating" involved the topic of plagiarism while the two-parter on "Drawing the Line" dealt with the issue of date rape, both of which were dealt with in responsible manners. The second time I saw the latter I had the exact same thought when Ben starts beating up on Zach, who yells for him to stop, and Ben does saying: "When you said 'Stop,' I did. That's the difference between us." At the other end where we deal with comedy there is Noel on "smart juice" during "Finally," Felicity putting "sex with Noel" down in her day planner in "Give Me an O," and when Meghan's parents confront Felicity with what they found in "her" box in "Happy Birthday."

I also like the fact that although the show focuses on the love triangle between the three principles and the problems of Felicity's gal pals Julie and Elena (Tanig Miller), that background characters like Sean (Greg Grunberg) and Megan (Amanda Foreman) could emerge so strongly, especially the later, who starts off as a one joke characters as Felicity's absent roommate and ends up stealing every since scene she is in the rest of the season. But replacing Javier (Ian Gomez) with Abby and Danny was a mistake, that was thankfully rectified the next season. Yes, there are bits that will go too far for your tastes, such as Felicity agreeing to marry Javier so he can stay in the country (although I loved it when she brightly announced "I'm marrying a gay guy too" to Noel's gay brother's partner) and a college professor deciding to have an affair with a freshman, but there are enough legitimate track wrecks to keep you attentive.

The extras are sparse on these DVDS, with commentary by the creators on the first and last episodes, and my biggest complaint is that there are no chapter stops for the episodes, so that when I wanted to check and see if Bradley Whitford's name appeared in the end credits of "Birthday" it was a pain to check it out. On to Sophomore year so I can find out what happened to Felicity after she went bald...

Summary: Remembering the good times.
Review: What can I say but relive my college years through the eyes of Ms. Felicity Porter. I first heard of this show and began watching it because a former classmate of mine named Tangi Miller (Elena) was on the show. She was a graduate student at my drama school at UC Irvine when I was an undergraduate pursuing the same field. Boy was I glad to come across this gem. Drama, acting, writing and music aside, this 1st season really captured what it was like to be in college all over again. There's a scene in one of the early episodes where Felicity goes to a grocery store and buys a pint of ice cream along with a silver spoon. I remember doing the exact same thing because I didn't have a spoon in my dorm room. Another episode that takes place during finals week uses subtitles, a brilliant idea on the part of the writers, because Felicity and Ben are whispering in the library, prompting the other students to say "Shhhhh!!!" in disgust. Some may say that Felicity is unrealistically passionate or too obesessive but it only heightens the drama of being alone for the first time in a new world known as college. This 1st season dvd is a must own for anyone who wants to remember a part of their past or just enjoy a really great drama. The soundtracks on this show is simply amazing. Many scenes display the full emotion of pain, love and laughter simply by the use of the carefully chosen song on top of images. Felicity is and was the best drama on tv over the last handful of years. Enjoy!!!
