Review: Just received the TV/DVD player today. I hesitated when reading previous reviews but I like to live dangerously. I found the system easy to set up. The manual was not confusing and took less than 7 minutes to set up (including test of the CD player, cable programming, remote operation and closed captioning). Picture and sound are very crisp. I don't see any reason this product won't last as long as any other of similar type. At this point it looks like a great deal.

Summary: The company
Review: Konka is the biggest TV manufactuer in China. China as the biggest TV market in the world is also the most competitive market with all the Japanese and domestic TV makers fighting over it. Konka made their name in China with quality and price, winning customers back from Sony and Panasonic and Toshiba and JVC, going from a tiny outfit ten years ago to one of the biggest company in China, and now they are in the US! It's a exciting fresh force in the US TV landscape. But because of its novelty, and lack of promotion, not much American people know it. But trust me, they sell tens of millions of TV sets in China every year, they are famous and big, and they can be trusted.

Review: Received the TV via UPS in a timely manner. Opended the box, plugged her in, and nothing...zip...a little click, but nothing more! It's very stylish, but it don't work! Contacted the maker--they replied, '...must have been damaged in shipping, we make a quality product...' (aren't all TVs shipped?). The shipping was fine, the box showed no excessive damage! On the bright size, our buddy Amazon has been very helpful in the return processing.

Summary: Very unusual package.
Review: This made-in-China TV-DVD combo is a most inscrutable mix of good and bad. First of all, the TV tuner is very good and the TV picture is quite acceptable. In addition, the front-firing stereo speakers sound better than I had figured they would. On the less-than-pleased side of my ledger, the ergonomics are a laughable bust. There is no way you're going to plug this baby in and insert your first DVD in anything under 15 minutes. Why? Because the manual, which was written by someone with either very poor English or a very great sense of mischief, is an abomination. The remote is so confusing you'll want to toss it against the wall, and the controls on the set itself are almost as bad. However, once you figure it out, it works pretty well. This venture reminds me of the early Japanese products of the 60s; they were not ready for US markets. This is in sharp contrast to Korean electronics, which seem to be ready for prime time the day they arrive. I'll write later on durability, but my hopes are not high.
