Summary: Bad Cueing and Editing
Review: Both tapes are 30 minutes long. The workouts will get your pulse up and you will definately sweat. However, the cueing and editing on both videos is bad. The production is still a mess (poor editing).

The stretching portion is dangerous and the faux tai chi cool-down at the end is useless. Billy stops the workout at one point to explain form. It's a disruptive moment and you get to experience it again and again every time you workout - very annoying.

Summary: Marketing Hype
Review: Come on! Do you really think you'll end up looking "ripped"? The Tae Bo workouts have a slick marketing campaign to make the consumer think they will get hard bodies after doing these videos. Truth is, these videos are all hype and do not explain the moves safely, especially for those of you who may be beginners. Really, if these videos are as good as they say they are, wouldn't more of us looked "ripped"? Where are all the "ripped" people anyway? Making appointments with plastic surgeons.........

Summary: Great Workout
Review: Considering I can't walk and chew gum at the same time, I love this DVD. It took me a week to get the hang of it. But now that I can do the exercises without knocking myself silly, I feel stronger and MUCH more coordinated!

Summary: Awesome to kick start your exercise routine!
Review: I bought this DVD hoping it would help me kickstart my weight loss after a 50 pound pregnancy weight gain. I haven't been disappointed.

I like:
* the music
* the fact that not everyone in the video has a perfect body
* it continues to interest and motivate me after 3 straight weeks of doing it 5 days a week

I don't like Michelle Reber (the annoying instructor behind Billy)'s ongoing comments and i don't like that Billy's cueing is a bit off and not a mirror image of what he wants you to be doing. But these are minor points. I normally lose interest in exercise DVDs really quickly but this one has really kept me motivated. I'll be buying other Tae Bo DVDs. There is substance behind the hype!

Summary: 2 great choices depending on your mood!
Review: I had been doing the original Tae Bo tapes and was bored with them. I do not have a lot of time to spend exercising, maximum of 1/2 hour a day. This DVD is great, I can choose which workout I want to do, or if I have extra time I will do both of them.
This is a great buy and lots of fun!

Summary: Great Workout!
Review: I have been cardio-kickboxing for years, so when I recently decided to buy some DVDs and weights for working out at home, I was eager to try out the much-hyped Tae Bo workout. I thought the Basics workouts would be too easy, and I do add a little more bounce to my workout than is in the tapes (when I have the energy, that is). I was wrong. With a solid effort, these "basic" workouts can kick your [behind! It is also good to have workouts divided into 25 minute (and one 8 minute) segments, if you don't have time for an hour's worth of exercise or if you want to reverse order for variety. Blanks has good form and uses all the basic stretches, punches, and kicks that my instructors over the years have used. He explains each move for those who are unfamiliar, and he starts slowly with each new move. (If this is too slow for me, I simply double-time it.) I also like Blanks' supportive, "let's have fun doing this" attitude and friendly encouragement. I am looking forward to getting the advanced DVDs for more combinations and greater variety of moves.

Summary: Even Better than the Original
Review: I have been doing the first version of Taebo for quite a while now, and I've loved it. So when the new version Taebo II came out it was the first thing on my Christmas list. After working out with it for a few weeks I've found that I loved it!! I especially like 2 workouts instead of 1. 1 workout focuses on cardio (and legs) and the other focuses on glutes, and abs. In the first Taebo I was at the advanced level, and I thought that I would be as well, but I have still not conquered the basic version. I skipped the instructional part as well since I had been doing Taebo already. I always disliked the long glute workout in the first advanced version which is why I liked how it was seperated out in Taebo II. That way I get to choose if I want to work out the abs and glutes, or not. I highly reccomend this... but I also caution that newbies to Taebo need to have a fitness base BEFORE they attempt it... Its not a good idea to start with Taebo, although the instructional DVD might be better since it has beginner's workout...

I was thrilled that this Taebo DVD had REAL people in it, not just already buff instructors working out with Billy Blanks. It had regular women (meaning not buff or overly skinny), older woman (60's or 70's), and slightly overweight women (who basically are normal women). It was motivating to see such a wide range of people instead of the usual instructors.

Lastly, for all you DVD guru's who, like me, were disappointed in the quality of the first Taebo DVD, this is finally digital quality.

Summary: Review of Basic Workout 1
Review: I have only tried Basic Workout 1, the one that includes floor work in addition to the kickboxing routine. This video begins with a warmup, which is Billy's standard 5-minute stretch routine. Following the warmup comes the target toning segment: 4 minutes of abs work and then 4 minutes of (...) work performed on hands and knees. Then Billy leads one of his basic kickboxing routines consisting mainly of punches with some knee lifts and kicks thrown in; Billy also emphasizes the abs while in a standing position. The kickboxing segment lasts about 10 minutes, and a final 3 minutes of cool-down stretches complete this 26-minute workout.

As an instructor, Billy Blanks is very likeable and extremely enthusiastic. However, his counting is not always accurate, and he frequently completes an uneven number of sets from one side of the body to the other. This would be a good workout for those who like simple kickboxing routines focused more on toning than on cardio.

Summary: FUN,FUN,FUN
Review: I just purchased this DVD and I absolutely love it! I have done kickboxing in the past but this is the first time doing TaeBoe. Billy Banks does a beautiful job putting this DVD together..there are many different types of people involved in the class and he is there to motivate you throughout. If you want to learn TaeBoe, I really think this is the one to try. He teaches you the basics..I can't wait to move to the TaeBoe II Advanced. GOOD LUCK!!!

Summary: billy my boy
Review: I love tae-bo ans was not disappointd with this dvd. I did tae-bo until I was about 8 mo pregnant (obviously I had to adapt a few moves)and have started on this series to get back into my pre-preg body. These workouts include more stretching that in the first series and a longer cool down period. There are 2 basic work-outs and an 8 min which is great. They are more fast paced but include new moves and incorporate floor work for abs and glutes but not to the extent you see in the advanced tapes. There is still the occasional too many sets on one side but if you alternate which side you start with you will always get a complete work out. these are the only tapes I can do at home and not get bored. I alwasy feel like I get a great workout.Great purchase and I will buy more.
