Summary: I love Sam so much...
Review: I really like this film 'cause it shows several types of gay lovers to let us think of true love. Among them I really like and sympathize with Sam (Shane Powers), who always behaves as a straight guy while always thinking of and loving his best friends in his heart... Shane Powers, as an actor, acts really well (amazing!), which left a very strong impression on me... Since I watched this film I've been looking for any information about him... Please tell me more about him!

Summary: Lack-Luster
Review: I think somebody needs to go back to film school and several need to crawl back to acting school. I usually can forgive bad camera angles, poor lighting, poor sound quality, and poor transfers, if there is a good script and good acting. The script of Luster is simply ridiculous. Featuring a rape that is handled nonchalantly, love at first sight, and an inexplicable suicide, this story lacks credibility from beginning to end. To add to the feeling of disbelief is the complete lack of talent of several main characters. The absolute worst was Billy (the "inspiration") who is to acting what William Hung is to singing. What is most pathetic is that the creators of this movie seem to think they were creating art. The recital of "poetry" in different scenes, the sound effects over the closing credits, etc., may be art in the hands of a good director, but here just make us wonder: What were they thinking? By the way, if you are going to recite poetry in a movie, please hire a professional to write it. In short, this is by far the worst movie I have ever seen.

Summary: Good concept, bad production
Review: I thought the idea behind the film and the undertones where good if not great. The acting was questionable at best and the production quality was poor. I wish I could say more possitive things about this film but I honestly can not. Poor investment.

Summary: Luster is a lack-luster film
Review: I'll just start by saying, I hated the main character of this movie and usually this is not the type of emotion you want to elllict from your viewer. Jackson, a blue haired punk rock loving hipster is so cool he throws people out of the record store he works at for listening to Madonna. Oh yeah, and he rolls around on his skate board while working and putting up cds---oooohh...he's just so cool! This uneven story centers around Jackson trying to find love or discover if he is capable of love. It starts when he wakes up from an orgy of mingled male and female bodies and continues as he has desire for his newly arrived cousin, Jed, and captures the attention (God know's why) of a preppy looking customer at the record shop. There is also Sam, his boss and best friend who also loves him. Why so many men are in love with this egotistical, obnoxious punk freak is beyond me but we are expected to believe that Jackson is THAT charasmatic! Sorry, I just didn't buy it! The story was boring and the acting ranged from fair to bad. (...)

Summary: Good Times!
Review: This movie might actually make you cooler just by watching it. It's 1996 Los Angeles in a way you've never seen it, but is much more accurate than either the gay gay films ("Jeffrey") or the gritty punky angry urban ones - it falls in between the two. And the soundtrack is fantastic, really really really good. It's worth it just for the soundtrack.
