Summary: A wonderful movie that is entertaining and thought provoking
Review: "Billy's Hollywood Screen Kiss" is by far one of the best movies I've seen (Oscar worthy). It is about a twenty something man chasing after his object of affection. The fact that his object of affection just happens to be male brings to the light that this is a gay oriented movie (As if you couldn't tell that from the cover, trailers, or movie poster) and something that few directors have tried to attack as a movie plot. We are introduced to Billy, played by Will and Grace's Sean P. Hayes, in bed with Fernando, his bed hopping latino lover. Not one for the promiscuous relationships, Billy leaves Fernando and to drown his sorrows, goes to a party. Here, he meets the man of his dreams (Ok, he actually technically met him in a coffee house, but they never said more than ten words), Gabriel. They hit it off and Billy asks Gabriel to be his new model in a set of poleroid shoots. Gabriel agrees and the rest of the movie involves Billy trying to figure out if Gabriel is gay or not (and Gabriel trying to figure it out for himself). Along the way, Billy recieves the consultation of fellow photographer and good friend, Perry, as well as his straight female roommate George (short for Georgeanna) and a few others. I won't tell you how it ends, but Billy does get his kiss.A remarkable movie, "Billy's Hollywood Screen Kiss" shows us just how alike homosexuals and heterosexuals are when it comes to love and gives a down-to-earth view of the life of a homosexual, without all the clichés and stereotypes. Sean P. Hayes gives a spectacular performance as Billy, who nothing like Haye's Jack from Will and Grace. I don't quite understand everyone's fascination with Mark Anderson's Peter. Everyone is saying what a wonderful actor he is, when all he says on camera is one line: "Do you work with Fernando?"I mean, what kind of acting is that? Anyone can say that, and though I do admit that he has a few more lines at the beginning, they're on an answering machine. I don't quite see how this is acting. Anyway, a first rate movie. I'd give it six out of five stars. If you missed it in the theater, rent it tonight. Whether straight or gay, a garanteed hit!

Summary: Lovely romantic kitch!
Review: "Billy's Hollywood Screen Kiss" offers gay and straight film audiences something quite unique. It is a kitchy romantic love story with a gay twist, and all the trappings of a goofy romance. Sean Hayes absolutely shines as the boy-next-door, hopeless romantic photographer pre- "Will and Grace" days. Beware: Billy is not "Jack", and you will come to love his character just the same! A great supporting cast adds flavor, and the nice twist at the end just peppers a wonderful story overall. This film is creative, inventive, and wildly funny, and it made my personal "Top Ten" list for 1998. And DVD owners watch out! The commentary by director Tommy O'Haver absolutely adds to the magic of the behind the scenes of making this film. Don't miss it!

Summary: Romantic escapism with a lot of charm.
Review: "Billy's Hollywood Screen Kiss" provides for the viewer romantic escapism with a lot of originality and charm. Whether you are gay, bi or straight, Tommy O'Haver's first feature will leave you wanting more. My only criticism is that O'Haver did not further explore the relationship between Peter (the under-used Mark Anderson) and Fernando. This would have provided the viewer with another interesting subplot that would have complimented the Billy/Gabriel relationship. Newcomer Anderson (who, by the way, is an accomplished stage actor)shows a great deal of promise and makes the most of his all-too-brief scene with Hayes. Catch him in O'Haver's critically acclaimed "Two: A Dysfunctional Romance" and you'll be treated to his versatility as the original "Billy". No doubt this talented young actor has a promising future in film acting. Watch for him!! This is a highly entertaining original work and deserves all of its plaudits. if you didn't catch it in theatres, then treat yourself to "Billy's Hollywood Screen Kiss" tonight!

Summary: "Billie's Hollywood Screen Kiss" is a delightful little film
Review: ...it is visually delightful...and very middle of the road for a gay themed film. A friend of mine says she is going to show it to her thirteen year old daughter...because the people treat each other really rather nicely. And that is the thing.. it is a funny little film about people who are attracted to the wrong people, but nothing really bad happens...everyone kind of learns something without being hurt. And it has location shots of Catalina, and the beaches north of Malibu. I like this film a lot...and watch it from time to time to remind myself that it is a rich wonderful world out there with many kinds of delightful people in it. ALL the actors are good--SEAN HAYES is at his early, understated best (Billy is out, but NOT as far out as his "Will and Grace" character). The commentary is pleasant and quirky---mostly about making a film on a small budget. Well...I certainly hope that some more films get made in THIS price range...this one is a humdinger!

Summary: Filmed beautifully and an interesting cast of characters.

Summary: If you were in my movie...
Review: A fresh and funny trifle, fluffy, brightly colored and utterly inconsequential but so personable you kind of have to love it.

Billy (Sean P. Hayes), a photographer who specializes in Polaroid works, has a knack for falling in love with the wrong men. Like Gabriel (Brad Pitt look alike Brad Rowe), a handsome, hunky and self-professed straight waiter/musician who's sending a veritable flash flood of mixed messages.

Bankrolled by old friend and mentor Perry (Richard Ganoung), Billy is shooting a series of images based on famous screen clinches, and pegs Gabriel as the Burt Lancaster stand-in for his homage to From Here to Eternity's famous full-body kiss on the beach. But Gabriel is also being wooed by fashionable photographer Rex Webster (Paul Bartel) for a high-profile underwear ad that will have to be shot the same weekend: Quelle crise!

Add in Billy's best friend George (Meredith Scott Lynn), short for Georgianna, her on-again off-again boyfriend Andrew (Christopher Bradley) and supporting cast of drag queens, lipstick lesbians, surfer studs, butch dykes, stoners, beach bums and scenemakers -- Carmine D. Giovinazzo stands out in the role of drug-addled Gundy, who tries to woo Georgianna by composing an impromptu and hilariously vulgar love song -- and the stage is set for frisky romantic farce, complete with running commentary. There's a danger in overpraising Tommy O' Haver's debut feature: It's such a modest little thing that it could easily be crushed under the weight of great expectations. But it's a sweet little breath of fresh air, all attitude and bubbly neuroses: Only a churl could resist its cracked Holly Golightly vibe.

Summary: Titillating
Review: A guy meets an attractive and apparently sexually ambiguous guy who agrees to have his picture taken along with drag queens for a series of recreations of famous Hollywood screen kisses. Hmmm....Preposterous? Somehow, Sean Hayes and Brad Rowe pull this off brilliantly with the help of one of the most colorful casts since Fellini's Satyricon. The score by Petula Clark greatly enhances the sense of longing and unrequitted teeny bopper love often associated with gay-straight crushes. The drag queen scenes are top drawer high camp. A date movie for sure.

Summary: TOUCHING WAKE-UPPER
Review: a modern gay tale mixing romance with reality---quite a tragedy. yanks you out of your dream with a mighty slap about living gay in the 90s. actors were great and all good looking---adds gloss to the surreal inspirations, but also poses the reality of being human and gay. ends with high hopes, but also tugs a sentimental string.
