Summary: Revenge at school, sign me up
Review: "Carrie" is the tale of a high school misfit who has telekinetic powers. At the prom a cruel joke was played on her and she avenges herself. I liked this film a lot because I went through a lot of the same thing in high school. I understand her finally having enough and wanting to teach everyone a lesson. Sissy Spacek is really outstanding as the tormented girl who's getting it from both ends, from the kids at school and her religiosly fanatic mother. This film also launched other carrers; Brian De Palma (he gets too much crap and not enough respect), Stephen King, and John Travolta, among others. I recomend it.

Summary: Revenge Of The High School Misfits!!
Review: This film was a huge blockbuster when it came out. The fact that it was viewed mainly as a Teen/Slasher kind of flick tended to obscure the artistry in this film. Though primitive by today's standards, and a little amateurish around the edges, it has become and remains a classic horror film. For a generation of those who were never asked to the prom, and were nerds, geeks, etc...this film provided a cathartic come-uppance to all those who abused the "less-than-populars" in the horrific and superficial high school hierarchy. How many of us dreamt of being Carrie??!!, exacting revenge on the jock who beat the crap out of us, and the snippy prom queen who wouldn't give us the time of day? Never mind that we can now take pleasure in that the aforementioned privileged ones are more than likely overweight has-beens , while we that were abused are just coming into our lusciousness. No, we wanted BLOOD! and "Carrie" gave us all the revenge, and then some, that we would have carried out, had we had the ability. The success and power of this film is due largely to the intelligence and skill in the performances of Sissy Spacek and Piper Laurie. Sissy Spacek was relatively unknown before this film, but it was a star-making role for her, and what a carrer she has forged since then. She is one of my favorite, and, I feel, most under-rated actresses. She gives Carrie a quality of such humanity, but such other-worldly strangeness, for someone with such a then very young acting career. Then, as now, it is hard to imagine anyone else in the role. And then, there's Piper Laurie, as "Mrs. White", Carrie's religious fanatic mom. Formerly a beautiful ingenue of the films of the 1950's, Miss Laurie's career was mostly forgotten when this film came out, and, her performance, though over-the-top, was totally believable and awe-inspiring, and surprised many. A classic tour de force performance ("Eve was WEAK!!")... She conveys all the fanaticism, guilt, and, insanity of such an extremist, and, what a wild ride she provides! She is so perfect in this role, for which I believe she was at the very least rightfully nominated for an Academy Award, that I consider her performance , at once unbelievably eerie and at times comical in its outrageousness, as one of the most brilliant in film history. Everyone knows of the cast including then unknowns John Travolta and Amy Irving. But, it's the remarkable portrayals of Spacek and Laurie that make this film. The famous prom scene has entered film folklore, and the finale is horrifying, visually flawless, and ultimately very moving. This film was basically produced as a "B" movie. It is not a "big" film, with tons of special effects, which I never find truly "scary" anyway, I always feel they render a film sterile, with very few exceptions (Aliens.) No, it's great acting that make a memorable film experience, and because of two wonderful portrayals, this one has become a timeless classic.

Summary: CLASSIC Horror! This is a film EVERYONE should should see!
Review: Have you ever been the misfit? Ever felt like you didn't fit in? Still bitter about those evil people in high school that taunted you through out your adolescence? THIS IS THE FILM FOR YOU!

This is the ultimate in justified revenge movies. Brian DePalma does a fantastic job in his directorial debut of this Stephen King classic. While watching, you empathize and want to become her. If only....

Cissy Spacek does a fantastic job as Carrie and Piper Laurie is amazing as her crazy mother. John Travolta also stars in the film along with Amy Irving. A great cast, indeed.

I HIGHLY recommend this film to all film fanatics!!!!

Summary: FABULOUSLY SCARY, BUT THE END IS A BIT OVER THE TOP
Review: Carrie is admittedly a stylishly done (on what was apparently a slim budget) adaptation of the eponymous King novel.

Sissy Spacek turns in a very credible performance as the teenage Carrie White who has never had a good day at school, and the high school bullies who taunt her are amusing twits. This whole rigmarole of a kook's daughter reaching out to her paranormal capabilities is actually quite worth a watch if you are into this genre -- and no, it's not your blood dripping Living Dead type horror if that's what you were worried about.

But the denouement is a bit overboard. Amazon's reviews call it an "immemorable finale", but a harrowing high school holocaust (in split-screen, apparently mildly tongue in cheek) was frankly a bit uncalled for. By this point much of the film's wit and taste had quickly faded away anyway, so I guess it shouldn't have made much of a difference.

Worth a watch? Definitely, this is one of the better horror movies. A masterpiece? No, by any stretch of imagination.

Summary: Creepy Carrie! Creepy Carrie! Best Prom EVER!
Review: Let's face it - puberty is scary. Your body changes, your emotions run high, and you're scared you won't fit in. That's the real beauty of CARRIE. Underneath the telekenisis is a tale that could apply to anyone. Stephen King knows how to find terror in the mundane, and Brian DePalma knows how to make it look incredible. Combine this with great acting, good special effects, and a psycho on acid score! The DVD has two featurettes that run about as long as the actual movie. In an interesting move rather than doing a commentary they give you a wonderful look inside the movie where you get to see the cast now talking about the film. Very very well done! A timeless classic! Superior to any re-makes or sequels. Probably the best Stephen King film adaptation ever. Even if the tv version is more literal this one is just stylish and well done.

Summary: VERY SCARY!!!
Review: I watched this movie late one night...creeped me out! After it went off, I proceeded to go downstairs to my family room to watch more tv. I was carrying more than a handful of videos down with me. Saw Carrie covered in the pig blood...and the tapes fell and I followed them!! That's all I will say!!!

Summary: Great acting, great cast, great film
Review: CARRIE is Brian De Palma's second film (the first being SISTERS). It is the story of a teenager (Sissy Spacek) who possesses powers and when she gets cheesed off, can make bad things happen. I'm sure we all wish we could do that at times!!!

The film is a cut above the rest because of the script and excellent acting by the key actors (Spacek, Piper). Brian De Palma once again uses split screen in the tense scenes (like in SISTERS and DRESSED TO KILL) and I have to say I like that style.

DVD SUMMARY:
The Special Edition is the one to get because the print is anamorphic and cleaned up alot more than the original DVD release. Add a couple of featurettes, trailer and 5.1 surround remix and the package is complete. Carrie is a must-own for horror genre fans. They dont make 'em like this anymore ...

Summary: Carrie (1976)
Review: Sissy Spacek is Carrie White, a teenager who is about to graduate
but is constantly teased by her class mates. The precense of a religious finatic of a mother (Piper Laurie) doesn't help her high school trama either. After strange things begin happening at school after she gets angry or upset, Carrie eventually notices she has telekinetic powers and begins using them on her enemies.
Spacek is so good as Carrie and Piper Laurie is amazing as the mother. Nancy Allen and John Travolta bring out the hate we should have for them very nicely in their debut roles. The second-last scene with Carrie's mother trying to commit murder to her daughter is so eerie and the music helps put the atmosphere into it. The famous prom sequence is very cool.
