Summary: "There's Broadway shows, we'll have to learn how to...
Review: "...buy tickets. Then there's street crimes, but I believe we can watch that for free."

Gremlins had a wonderful story, plot lines, theme, city, and characters to base the gremlins around. Gremlins 2 is about the gremlins themselves, and how they can be manipulated for entertainment. They are really two completely different movies, and good in two separate ways.

The science lab scene says it all about the type of movie Gremlins 2 is. For some reason in this high tech building that is mainly television station based, there is also a science lab that does genetic research. Of course they have random potions lying around like they were a fairy godmother or something. Once the Gremlins break out, in a very similar fashion as the first one, they start drinking the potions. This provides you with female gremlins, spider gremlins, vegetable gremlins, bat gremlins, smart gremlins, etc.

"Peltzer, you're having a psychotic episode. Thanks for sharing it with us."

Joe Dante directs this very interesting movie. He also directed the first Gremlins, along with Small Soldiers, The 'burbs, Innerspace, Twilight Zone: The Movie, and The Howling. I liked how he played off the first Gremlins, almost in a parody way. Phoebe Cates character starts rambling on about Lincolns birthday the same way she did about Christmas in the first movie, then on a television show they start making fun of Gremlins during a movie review television show, etc, etc. Dante really threw the first movie out the window when he made this film.

"Television again? An invention for fools."

The key element to this movie was Dante's ability to bring back Phoebe Cates as Kate Beringer and Zach Galligan as Billy Peltzer. He also brought Dick Miller and Jackie Joseph as Mr. And Mrs. Futterman, who just happened to have a snow plow drive through their house in the first movie, only to get attacked by the bat gremlin in the second.

"Coming to work in a $200 million dollar flee market."

In conclusion, there were many delightful scenes in this film, such as the cooking show that gets infested with gremlins (which reminded me of the kitchen scene with the mother from the first Gremlins). There were also some annoying characters, like the man who developed the "Clamp" corporation, and his line: "developer saves city, I like the sound of that." There were also some very cheesy scenes, such as when Hulk Hogan stands up in the movie theatre and tells the Gremlins to get a hold of themselves. That cheesy scene alone makes me give this movie 4 stars instead of 5.

Gremlins 2 is a movie for entertainment purposes only. Some people may say it is stupid, then they took the movie too seriously. Dante made a very fun movie, and I'm not ashamed to say I found it entertaining, and it is part of my DVD collection.

Grade: B+

Summary: The new and wilder batch of Gremlins
Review: "Gremlins 2 - The New Batch" is a much funnier, wilder, and surprisingly even a better movie than the original "Gremlins." Zach Galligan and Phoebe Cates are back in this hilarious sequel, and so is Gizmo. Gizmo's old caretaker dies and Gizmo is picked up by some scientists who want to do experiments on him. Billy (Zach Galligan) rescues Gizmo and tells him to stay put until he can take him home. However, Gizmo doesn't stay put and (yep, you guessed it) he gets wet and produces even more of the ecstatic Gremlins than ever before. This time, the Gremlins terrorize a building that belongs to the new business, Clamp. It's up to Gizmo and the people of New York City to find a way, if there is one, to stop the wildly insane Gremlins from taking over the whole city.

"Gremlins 2 - The New Batch" is 100 times funnier than the first movie, and you'll know what I mean when you see some of the parts such as one of the Gremlins trying to be a dentist and some Gremlins duking it out with the Duke himself, John Wayne, with some guns in a western movie. The special effects are also a lot better. And the Gremlins are now taking new forms such as electricity, one Gremlin becomes smart and can talk distinguishly, and there's even one that can fly, and one that is in the form of a huge and terrifying spider. These Gremlins are wilder and more uncontrollable by the minute!

Pretty much, "Gremlins 2 - The New Batch" is a funnier and more upbeat movie than the original, and that makes for an even more entertaining movie. There's not many sequels to great movies that can even stand up to the original, and especially not many that are better than the original, but "Gremlins 2 - The New Batch" is a huge exception. I recommend this movie to anybody who liked "Gremlins" and to anybody who likes comedy movies at all. This is a must have!

Summary: THE GREATEST SEQUEL OF ALL TIME?.......
Review: .......Probably not, but it is certainly up there with the best, most of the originals return in this sequel. Smalltown folk, Billy (Zach Galligan) and Kate(Phoebe Cates) move to Big Apple, the only thing is, the furry critter that started all the trouble in the first movie, Gizmo, also turns up. And sooner than you can say ''gooey, sticky pods'' there are more little fuzzballs running about; and you know what happens when the rules(Don't feed them after mignight, etc)aren't followed: Scary, Green, GREMLINS! This time they set about an office block in NY, and in the genetics dept., things go from bad to worse, with the Gremlins(now multiplied tenfold)DRINKING GENES, and taking on those genes' persona:eg. Brain Gremlin, Spider Gremlin. The way that the Brain Gremlin is executed is surprisingly effective. Great acting, and some brilliant comedic moments, ''Gremlins 2-The New Batch'' is a refreshing sequel, that is well worth a look.

Summary: Even better than the first one
Review: Absolutely Hilarious movie. Picture all the crazy funny mayhem from the first, and triple it. It is so much fun and the new characters are great. There becomes genetic experimentation and the creation of new types of Gremlins. Entirely hilarious. Absolutely amazing. Buy it. Most definetly.

Summary: 2.8 out of 5
Review: After the mild success of GREMLINS, there was plenty of room for a sequel. Not that anyone expected it (especially the parents). But here we have it, GREMLINS 2: THE NEW BATCH, another horror/comedy which is this time entirely comedy. In fact, GREMLINS 2 is overall one gigantic spoof of itself. Zach Galligan and Phoebe Cates return as lovers Billy Peltzer and Kate Beringer - this time they're trying to thrive in The Big Apple. One day, Peltzer discovers Gizmo (the voice of Howie Manel) in a media mogul's science lab. Of course, Billy takes Gizmo to work with him - and guess what? - the gremlins are back, more hilarious than ever, and led by a super-smart gremlin with the voice of Tony Randall. The best part of the film is John Glover's hilarious performance as Billy's boss; there's also nice directing by Joe Dante and a fair score by Jerry Goldsmith. The film, overall, is pretty weak, however; the script is all-out madness, with plenty of star cameos. The effects are arguable; awesome gremlin effects, [bad] everything else effects. A hilarious, no-holds barred spoof of itself...lovely, but no where near as good as GREMLINS.

Summary: Hulk Hogan Scenes
Review: Anyone remember the theater scene in Gremlins 2 w/ Hulk Hogan that was in the actual theatrical release? I wonder if they'll include this scene on the DVD. The television broadcast has the Gremlins taking over a t.v. station and somehow they interact with a John Wayne Western instead.

Summary: Gremlins 2--The New Batch
Review: Director Joe Dante ("Pirahna") is back at the helm after a six-year hibernation, continuing the story of those mischevious mutant monsters. This time, they invade a futuristic New York office complex run by a billionare, and only Galligan and Cates can save the day. Just as exciting, scary, and humorous as the original, "Gremlins 2" is unique in it's slapstick and laid back approach that actually works in various ways. If you're looking for a fun 2-hour romp with little green goblins, a cute furry pet, many crude sexual jokes, and a pulse-pounding musical score, this film is certainly for you. Director: Joe Dante. Cast: Zach Galligan, Phoebe Cates, John Glover, Robert Prosky, Robert Picardo, Christopher Lee, Dick Miller, Jackie Joseph. Rated PG-13 for slapstick violence and profanity. 114 minutes.

Summary: .
Review: Distinctly inferior to the original Gremlins, but although immensely silly, this is generally an entertaining sequel. A good way to kill an evening if you liked the first Gremlins -- it's inspired and imaginative -- but ultimately it isn't exactly the gem the first one was.
