Rating: Summary: Great value, nice little DVD player! Review: ***** For the money, this DVD player is very nice---note that it is more than just a player---it is a kit! It comes with all accessories, cords, batteries, etc. so you only need to spend the purchase price. This was nice for me because I would have no idea which accessories to buy. It even comes with 2 headsets and a Y adapter! Many functions run off of the player itself, and the rest off the remote. The fast forward and fast backward are only on the remote not the player, but the chapter forward and backward are on the player. I am satisfied with how things are set up. It is the first DVD player I've ever had, and I think it makes an excellent entry-level player. I really wanted to buy something sturdy but inexpensive, and this one fit the bill; I have heard other reviewers of other DVDs complain about what is on the remote and what is on the player, but I'm not picky. One fun feature it has is the fast forward and backward multiply each time you hit it (first time is 2X, second time is 4X, etc.---all the way up to 16X). I like this because with the subtitles on, I can fast forward through boring parts of DVDs and still quickly read what, if anything, is going on. It has many more features than I would ever use. The picture quality looks great to me. The battery life is supposed to be 3 hours, and so far, that seems about right. I would recommend this DVD player kit for families with children (who will be hard on the player, so you wouldn't want to spend a fortune on it!) and entry-level purchasers. *****
Rating: Summary: Great player for the money! Review: I just ordered this based on the reviews it received. I was in the market for a DVD player and had been doing some research. I can't believe how fast it arrived, in less than 4 days!! My mom has an Apex 7" and the colors on the Mintek are much better as is the quality. It makes a little noise once it starts a disc but otherwise pretty good. My mom paid $278 for hers without the headphones, jacks or bag. My only complaint is that in the car if the sun is especially strong you will have a hard time adjusting it for the passengers to see. My minivan has tinted windows so it is alittle easier but my husband's car does not and it made it hard to see the screen for a little bit. All in all a great player!
Rating: Summary: Finally, a complete package, region-free Review: Most of these players (along with just about every other electronics device) skimp on cables, adaptors, batteries in order to keep their costs down or to upsell you on accessories. In some cases (USB devices are notoriously bad), you can't even operate the things without buying more stuff, and it ends up adding 10% to 25% to the price. These folks proudly seem to provide everything and then some. Not only are they thoughtful enough to include a Y-adaptor so two headphones can listen in, they actually give you 2 headphones. Also included: car power adaptor, remote control, good carrying case, and it plays burned CDs. The may or may not matter to you, but it is region-free so you can buy + play DVDs from other counties (certain titles aren't available in the U.S. or released later). These devices are going to evolve so quickly that it really doesn't make sense beyond the minimum amount on one. I'm sure the next generation will have things like DVD-R and firewire so you can dump files from your video camera, 40GB hard drives and iTunes software, 3x the battery life, etc.
Rating: Summary: Sooo Cool! Review: I love this player, its soooo cool! I have had this for a week or 2 and it has worked great. It comes with everything you need. The picture is great, the sound is good too. If you have it up all the way it can even be a little to loud. While you are watching the movie the player makes no buzying or humming sounds like others. With the carring case they give you can hook it you in the middle of 2 seats or on a head seat. For the price you can't find a better one!!!!
Rating: Summary: Good At First, Especially for the price but broke Review: I was initially drawn to this model because of the price. It is very inexpensive relative to other port dvd players out there. However, with low price comes lower quality. This became evident within 2 months of use. It simply died; stopped loading any DVDs. I returned it and got a toshiba, which was a little better (I had to return that model a few times as well). My advice, spend a few more bucks, get the better quality plyer unless you are looking for a disposable player that you are only planning on using for a couple of months.
Rating: Summary: It was broken when it arrived Review: Ordered this kit for my son's birthday. It took several weeks to arrive (not a problem, since this was stated). The kit is a good deal, but the on/off switch was broken when we went to use the player. Looks like a good product, but we were disappointed.
Rating: Summary: An excellent value Review: I've tried two other models of DVD players, all much more expensive. I finally settled on the Mintek. The price to feature ratio is fantastic. The picture quality is good, the extras(good case, extra headphones, all cables and adaptors) go beyond other packages. Its been back and forth with me to europe 3 times without a hitch. At home we use it as a regular DVD player for one of the TVs.
Rating: Summary: Love this DVD Player!! Review: As a mother who is always in the car, it was becoming really hard to travel with my son. So we started looking at every DVD player on the market. Went to a lot of stores and talked to a lot of people. We go on long trips every month and that was becoming a nightmare, so we found this one. Well I read every review on here and any other site I could find and it is all true. I live in a very pothole community and it never skips. It is great my son has no problem seeing it in the day or night. I have it hooked up between the drive and passenger seat so he doesn't kick it and it works great. I love the remote! The only thing I wish it had were volume control on the remote, but I haven't found one player anywhere with that feature. I am extremely happy with it! I did a lot of price comparision too and this is a GREAT deal.
Rating: Summary: Good value Review: We purchased this unit after considerable review reading. I had never heard of Mintek but all the reviews were very positive. We've only had it a week and primarily use it in the car to entertain our daughter but so far it seems like a good buy. The sound is better than I expected and the picture quality is great. The only thing I am disappointed in is that in just the last week since I made my purchase the price has come down $20 and there is now a $50 rebate. Grab this unit while you can. You won't be sorry. Oh, one funny thing about this unit is that remote does not have an on/off feature or a volume control. I find that kind of funny but I can live with it.
Rating: Summary: Junk! Review: I own the 7" model. Being a deployed soldier, many others around me also own Minteks. The PX sells them. The hinges on my player are completely severed. The wiring harness is holding the screen to the base. The 5" models do the same. It's not that I don't take care of the player. For a few months I replaced it in the factory styorfoam and kept in the box after each use. I eventually invested in a quality storage case for the unit. It's kept inside a building; I don't go into combat with my Mintek, or anything. The price of this player simply wastes money you could spend on a quality one.
