Summary: The best Friday the 13th movie...
Review: Well... I guess I shouldn't use the word "best" since none of these films are actually great, but oxymoronically, this one is the cream of the so-called crop. Every once in a while, I just love to kick back and watch these types of movies for the sheer pleasure of being momentarily scared by a sudden JUMP in the frame, creative murder sequences and, my favorite of all, to point out just how stupid some of the protagonists in these movies really are. Why the heck would someone want to fist fight Jason on a rooftop anyhow?

This is my favorite Friday film for one reason: Jason finally takes a vacation from the woods and heads for the city by following a few students and teachers in a lifeboat for about two days. Yep. Jason swam after them for two days and nobody noticed he was there. Even more shocking is the fact that Jason could actually swim for that long. What follows are some pretty good chase sequences. The subway one is pretty good. A madman in a hockey mask is chasing two frantic teens and nobody cares. Haha. Classic. I also dig the part where the couple run into a diner and say, "Please help us! There's a maniac trying to kill us!" A waitress at the counter snickers and responds, "Welcome to New York."

That alone should tell you that Jason Takes Manhattan is probably the most inspired script this series has ever gotten. It's nothing brilliant, but it's a cut above the whole sex/kill...formula we've all become accustomed to. I gave this movie three stars because it supplied me with an hour and a half of pure entertainment. And that's all I ever ask for from a movie like this...

Summary: A Stupid Ending To A Passable Flick That Ruins the Mythos
Review: First, I'll give the film props where the flick deserves it. They change pace by getting out of Crystal Lake. Seeing Jase rampage through New York is a nifty novelty and the "Steam Room" and "Uppercut" deaths are pretty original. The DVD transfer is probably the best the film has ever looked and the surround sound is the best out of the first 8 movies. The extras as with all Paramount Ft13th flicks [are bad].

Now onto the bad. A cruise ship in Crystal Lake?! I can swallow Jason being a walking corpse that punishes kids for having sex and doing drugs, but I just can't get past having a cruise ship in Crystal Lake. Smaller boats, yes. Cruise ship, no. Regardless, my biggest problem is the fact that they mess with the legend. They portray young Jason as a normal, mild mannered everyday kid. He's a mentally challenged, slighty deformed child. That's wht Mama Voorhees was so over protective. That's why Jason drown. The whole fact that the main character has some sort of attachment to Jase (or his ghost or spirit or whatever) irks me as well. The worst part, however, was the ending. ...

Summary: Jason takes a bite out of the big apple
Review: I decided to rewatch the last 2 (not counting the awful Jason X) Jason flicks that lead into the upcoming box-office hit, "Freddy vs. Jason" , in order to get back into the Jason line. I recommend bot this movie as well as doing what I did before heading to the theatre this week.

Summary: Another Excellent Sequel
Review: Part 8 along with Part 6 is another sequel that tops the series in my opinion. In this movie you have a new idea that ends up making a successful sequel unlike Part 7. Jason Takes Manhattan is a good twist to the series. Even though Part 8 doesn't take place in Manhattan until the 2nd half of the movie the plot still holds up. Just as you saw Jason get chained to the bottom of Crystal Lake in Part 6, Part 8 starts off with Jason chained down to the bottom of Cystal Lake which is part of why Jason Takes Manhattan should have been the next sequel after Jason Lives in the series. As in Part 6, there are some characters that you care about and some that you don't. Plus, there is something about Jason that you don't get to see in the previous sequels but I won't spoil that for anyone. As of Part 5 and 7, do yourself a favor by skipping Part 9: Jason Goes to Hell and watch Jason X.

Summary: Jason takes NY!
Review: Tired of being stuck at Camp Crystal Lake, Jason decides that its time to go on vacation as he hitches a ride on a cruise ship and heads for New York.

Despite its title, Jason only spends about 20 minutes in the Big Apple (well, it's actually Canada). The scenes in New York are actually real good but the wait gets sort of tired as you get to watch him go through a bunch of victims including a geek with a movie camera, a slutty teenager (surprise!), and the boat's own staff. V.C. Durpee as the class boxing champion and token black character is real good and makes for some pretty memorable scenes. Also look for a young Kelly Hu (The Scorpion King) in a small role.

Summary: THE BEST IN THE SERIES, BAR NONE
Review: IT'S ABOUT TIME THEY TOOK IT OUT OF CAMP CRYSTAL LAKE. HERE, JASON IS SHOCKED BACK TO LIFE BY ELECTRICITY, AND HE BOARDS A CRUISE SHIP THAT HAS A BUNCH OF GRADUATING HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS ON IT THAT'S HEADING FOR NEW YORK CITY. DESPITE THE TITLE, MOST OF THE MOVIE TAKES PLACE ON THE CRUISE SHIP. I'M GLAD THEY FINALLY TRYED SOMETHING DIFFERENT WITH JASON, AND IT WORKED TO PERFECTION. THIS IS THE BEST OF THE ''FRIDAY THE 13TH'' SERIES, I DON'T CARE WHAT ANY CRITIC OR MOVIE FAN SAY. THIS SEQUEL WOULD BE FOLLOWED BY AN 8TH SEQUEL ENTITLED ''JASON GOES TO HELL; THE FINAL FRIDAY''.

Review: JASONS THERE AND HE PAINTS THE TOWN RED SMART AND STYLISH SEQUEL WITH A FEW SUPRISES

Summary: Bad
Review: Worst series of all time! I bought this one and after 1 lousy viewing gave it to my friend. The movie is sheer and utter trash, stick with parts 1,4,6 and 7. The only good 4 in the series, even Jason X was better. Yet at least part 8 is better then Jason goes to hell.
