Summary: Good Freddy movie, A whole lot better than part 2,3,and 5
Review: Freddy's Dead is an improvement over those horrid parts(2,3,and 5) but the storyline/plot sometimes makes little or no sense and the death scenes were laughable. A boy is having nightmares and ends up in Freddy's hometown and ends up at a mental institute and meets other patients and soon battle or get killed by Freddy. Though the movie isn't scary it has black-humor so you can bill it as a dark comedy and there is about 4 death scenes and there sometimes laughable. The best parts are when Johnny Depp was on the T.V. screen and he was doing a drug talk about your mind on drugs and used a egg(for the brain) and fried it on the pan and Freddy hits him with the pan and the scene were the boy was on the plane and the fat old lady fly's out of the plane. Too bad the 3D ending isn't on the home video but the ANOES box set is presented with 3D and includes a pair of 3D glasses. The good cast includes Lisa Zane,Robert Englund(as Freddy),Yaphet Kotto,Lezlie Deane(who was in Englund's 976-EVIL),and Breckin Meyer along with cameos by Roseanne,Tom Arnold,Johnny Depp, and Alice Cooper(as Freddy's abusive father).

Review: THEY SAVED THE BEST FOR LAST.

THIS MOVIE IS ONE OF THE COOLEST IN THIS SERIES. I LOVED IT. IT HAS COOL PARTS IN IT. LIKE THE VIDEO GAME. OR THE 3-D ENDING. I LIKED WHEN FREDDY SAID GREAT GRAPHICS. THIS IS THE BEST OF THE SERIES FOR SURE. MY FAVORITE DEATH HAS TO BE THE VIDEO GAME. I JUST THINK THIS IS THE MOST ENTERTAINING OUT OF THEM ALL. TO BAD NOBODY ELSE THINKS THAT.

THE SPECIAL FEATURES ON THIS DVD ARE:

1.THEATRICAL TRAILER

2.CAST AND CREW

3.JUMP TO A NIGHTMARE MENU

Summary: Dreadful.
Review: There are three things that save this movie from a one star rating. And even then, the two stars is out of pity for the most part. If you consider yourself a fan of the NoES series, and enjoy this one, then there's something wrong with you. Really, I'm at a loss for words here. Is it worse than Freddy's Revenge and Dream Child? I don't know, because putting all 3 of them in the same sentence causes time to stop and creates a vortex of stupidity that leads to memory loss. But I'll do my best to review this...this thing.

The movie starts out with a guy who falls asleep, and after waking up, hits his head on a rock, leading to amnesia. He's taken in to a home/shelter where other kids with problems are. At first, everyone thinks he's a drug addict since he acts like one...with about the same acting skills. In an act of brilliance, the woman asking him questions, Maggie, names him "John Doe". He starts talking around with the other kids and they all have a plan to escape. Blah blah blah, it's essentially the same thing as Dream Warriors only terrible. And again, they all have dreams about Freddy. When Maggie drives to a town with John Doe, it turns out the 3 other teens were in the back of the van. Real creative there guys. Once in town, they find that everyone's lost it. People are talking to themselves, throwing a fair where there are no children at all, and once they go into a school, the teacher is teaching a non-existant class, and begins talking about a Freddy timeline. Yeah, it doesn't make any sense. Especially when it gets to the part where they mention that he had a kid. Everything from that point is predictable and you'd do best to watch this if you're having trouble sleeping. Which is funny because the original Nightmare on Elm Street made people stay awake. And let me just add that John Doe is the single least likeable protagonist I've seen in the whole series. Fortunately, he gets killed off and it carries on with Maggie, who is one of the three whole good things about the movie. It's just too bad that all of the deaths aren't too creative, and it re-uses a ton of concepts from previous Nightmare movies. You have one girl who's a street-smart fighter. Yet when she goes to take on Freddy, her physical attacks actually work on him. Here in a NoES before this one when someone tried it, there wasn't any effect. Maybe it's her charming attitude that re-enforces her punches. And the two other good things about this installment? GREAT GRAPHICS. You'll see if you have the mispleasure of watching, but it's a death that involves Freddy playing a game with his own brand of Power Glove. His facial expression in this scene was priceless. And the other pro would be the little collection of clips at the very end showing some of Freddy's more unique kills. One second of this collection is better than the way they kill off Freddy. I shook my head in shame when I saw how they took him out.

And again, for the final time, the picture and audio is good. Since this was a more recent NoES, it doesn't have as many problems with grain or fuzzy sound as the first two did, and there's always the Dolby 5.1 mix that makes everything sound great.

Special features? I'm sure you've read all my other Nightmare reviews by now, so let's just skip over this section.

So for the love of god, stay away from this one. You could ignore the second, fifth and this installment, and still understand the entire series. And I love how this is called "Freddy's Dead", yet he managed to come back in Freddy vs Jason. Now there's a good one. Yeah, go with Freddy vs Jason over this thing. At least there they put some effort into it. I'm just glad they stopped making Nightmare movies with this one. Wes Craven's New Nightmare doesn't really count, but if they ever do throw in another one (and not that NoES prequel I read about 2 years ago), hopefully it'll truely be the last, and Freddy goes out strong.

Summary: Freddy's Dead The Final Nightmare
Review: because this is THE worst of the lot (LadyLestat of Birmingham, Alabama, I agree completely!).

If you thought "Freddy's Revenge" completely killed Freddy as a credible monster, you have to watch this. This totally ruined Freddy as a monster and thoroughly discredited Wes Craven's original storyline.

Nowhere in any of the previous movies was there even a hint that Freddy had a kid, so where the folks who made this disaster pulled that from (except their anal cavities) I haven't a clue.

And couldn't these people think of anything other than teenagers who were orphans and crazy with a counselor who dreamed the same dreams they did but didn't know it? (That angle was exhausted in "Dream Warriors.")

The ending was cornier than the beginning and the saddest part of all is that Freddy was brought back yet again (with Nancy, who, supposedly, died all those years ago in Part 3, now with a son).

The only part I enjoyed of this movie was Johnny Depp's cameo (the original Nightmare on Elm Street was his first movie role.)

Freddy Kreuger went from a scary monster who you couldn't shake off after watching the original Nightmare to a complete laughingstock.

So much for trying to appease the masses.

Summary: This movie BLOWS!
Review: First of all, If I could give this movie negative stars I would. Secondly, they have completely destroyed a horror legend and icon with this disaster of a movie. I didn't see anything funny or comical in the least about it because it was too stupid to even be funny. However, what they have managed to do is turn one of the best horror movies of all time into a complete joke. Frankly, until I saw this movie, I was totally convinced that the 2nd film was the worst of the franchise, but this film totally blew that out of the water, so now "Freddy's Dead" holds that honor. I just don't see what happened, the original "Nightmare on Elm Street" was a horror classic, and a movie that made you terrified to go to sleep, especially if you were young when you saw it like I was. This movie just BLEW! Frankly, I was so disgusted by it that half-way through the movie I decided that I had tortured myself enough, and ended my pain by turning it off. I can't even tell you all what the ending was because at that point I didn't even wanna know. In fact, the only reason I was even interested in watching as long as I did was to see how the whole thing with Freddy's daughter would play out, but by the time I got through watching most of that ludicrous and outlandish trash I didn't care to know about that either. This is a movie that you have to watch at your own risk, but I strongly would vote against it. Unless of course, you have a lot of spare time to waste watching garbage.
