Rating: Summary: A Reviewer with 84 DVD'S and growing Review: I enjoyed this movie and would have to say it is one of my favorites in the series..And the 3-D effect is a good effect, it just gives it a little bit more edge, espeically in the killing scenes...But all in all this movie was great, and it made me shiver, laugh,(and I like that in a good horror flick) cheer for the fact that good ole Jason traded in that stupid pillow case he wore in the second one, and got his trade mark hockey mask....But I recomend seeing this one,for it is one of the best in the series...So either go buy it or rent it either way it is worth it...But when viewing it I recomend three other things, it seems to be a little bit more effective when viewed late at night with or without a bowl of popcorn, and I think it is a must to be watched with a close friend...So what are ya waiting for get out there and rent it if you have'nt seen it...
Rating: Summary: JASON SLASHES THE COMPETITION!!! Review: This part is one of the better of the series. It steers away from the camp counsler theme and puts Jason up against a group of young adults on vacation. The setting is a ranch in the woods but Jason does'nt care. He'll slaughter who's ever in his woods. The chill aspect is from the maniac in the woods story. The ranch is a bit run down which also adds to the scare element. The group of vacationers consists of your typical oblivious to everything victims. You wonder if Jason might be doing some of them a favour by cutting their lives short. This is the one everybody knows as the part where Jason gets his trademark hockeymask.
Rating: Summary: rent it before you buy it Review: The only reason I would think that someone would look at the reviews for a Friday the 13th movie is that they haven't seen it. If you are one of those individuals that haven't viewed this movie, then please go to blockbuster, hollywood video, videotime, or what ever other video rental store you go to and rent this movie and the rest of the series. Why? Because the Friday the 13th series is not for everyone. The DVD doesn't have many extras, mostly just trailers and commentary, so if you buy DVDs for the extras, and not the exellecent audio and picture, buy the VHS version.
Rating: Summary: Enter.....The Mask!! Review: Even though this begins right after the end of part 2, Jason seems to have grown about twice the size he was in that film. He's also now completely bald, he seems to have lost all of his hair in that half hour time frame. The disco theme is pretty catchy, and the 3D thing looks quite dumb. It would be nice if the dvd came with glasses and the film was in 3D. When the van full of victims pulls up(as it always seems to in these the beginning of these films. They might as well have an announcer say, "Lets meet our victims, ladies and gentlemen"), you will identify almost immediately who the lucky one is who'll survive. That point is pounded home even more when she refuses the advances of her old boyfriend. And of course, as you probably already know, Jason gets his hands on that hockey mask in this one, and he must love it, coz he's never without it again. In fact, he manages to get it back after losing it a few times, and even gets a brand new one in 8. No different than the rest, but I have to admit that this one has what I feel to be the creepiest moment in the series. These films are far from being scary, but there's a dream sequence at the end of this film that's pretty well done and might even give you the chills.
Rating: Summary: Steve Miner's Friday the 13th Part 3 Review: (Spoilers?) This was the one where Jason finally gets his hockey mask. After surviving the events of Part 2, Jason goes to a near by small store and kills a couple. It's sort of odd that he has no hair in this one after he had hair at the end of Part 2. Anyway, Jason makes his way to a cabin in the woods in which teens are staying at. This time he goes after the couple Chris Higgins and Rick, a jokester named Shelly, two girls, two pot smokers, and three bike gangsters. Most of the murders took place in the barn. Even though the climactic chase scene was fairly good, the ending was horrible. In Chris' dream, Jason is alive again with his mask off and runs to out of the barn. At that same time, Mrs. Voorhees pulls Chris under water. How is that possible. Chris didn't even know about Mrs. Voorhees. Not being at Camp Crystal Lake hurt this film. This series just didn't have the same magic as the Halloween Series...
Rating: Summary: "A decent Jason for once..." Review: Well, folks, it's finally happened, Jason Voorhees, the Crystal Lake teen slasher, has finally acquired his trademark hockey mask in Friday the 13th, Part 3. The opening credits were great, and the theme song was really catchy. If you're wondering why there are so many scenes where things get really, really close to the screen, it's because this was in 3-D when it was in theatres, so naturaley they had to do some surprise and three-dimensional elements. Richard Brooker stars as Jason Voorhees, and does a pretty good job, but he would be the third understudy for me on the three people best at playing Jason. The second would have to be C.J. Graham for his performance in part 6, and the first would, of course, be Kane Hodder for his performances in parts 7, 8, 9, and X. But, sadly, we may not see Kane's name in the credits for Freddy vs. Jason, unless he coordinated the stunts, because New Line considered passing him over for the Jason role, and filming began on Sept. 9. So, hopefully, they'll have decided to go with him, but we'll just have to wait and see. Anyway, even though Jason Voorhees gets his mask here, it's about 4/6 into the movie, but that's okay, because he looks pretty freaky without it too, but it doesn't really show his face. Usually, when he appears without the mask, they either don't show his face at all or they show it so quick that you couldn't make out what the actual appearance was. Written by Martin Kitrosser and Carol Watson, produced by Frank Mancusco Jr., and directed by Steve Miner, who also did Friday the 13th part 2, Friday the 13th, Part 3 introduces Jason Voorhees with his trademark hockey mask, as well as delivering major chills, and excitement that should be more than enough to get you through the movie.
Rating: Summary: Well, the cover art pretty much says it all Review: You can tell by the cover art alone that it was filmed in 3D. It's too bad that if you were not able to see it originally in the theaters in 1982, then you'll probably never see the 3D version. I am among the unlucky in this respect. At least Part 3 tries to be a little better than the previous two. In this one, they've tried a little character development as apposed to the previous installments in which they just lined up horney teenagers to be killed off. On the sake of sounding like I'm trying to draw much more out of the film than there actually was, I'll say that it seemed that they managed to bring in characters that showed the wide scope of humanity: There's an aspiring actor with incredibly low self esteem, an attack victim, pot users, and a misfit biker gang. Incidentally, even though they tried character development, no matter how diverse the characters, I never said that I thought they succeeded. The uses of the 3D effects throughout the movie are sporadic, and if you don't pay attention, you'll miss one. Of course, the underlying fact is that it IS a slasher film and, eventually, it starts acting like one. It seems that after all of the fun--and as the movie picks up its momentum--the 3D effects seem to be disregarded. I think the last effect is the eye popping out at the camera trick right before the traditional "girl discovering all of the dead bodies" routine. Aside from that, I'd have to agree with some that it seems that entire scenes were created and set up just to have a 3D effect in it. The Yo-Yo scene is a good example. Is it me or is the heroine during the chase sequence act a little too melodramatic? For example, when she attacks Jason with the ax and he stops for a moment then continues to peruse her, she starts walking backwards, shaking her head and screaming, "NO! NO! NO! NO! NO!" over and over with a crazed look in her eye. Like the director deliberately gave her too much coffee before the shoot. Then of course there's the dream sequence that makes you think, "been there and done that". Afterwards she's seen being walked out of one of the cabins by a police officer and escorted into the back of the squad car. I guess she had too much coffee before that scene too, as this is where she starts throwing a fit in the back of vehicle. That makes ME think, "All right, THAT'S never happened in a Friday the 13th movie before . . ." Overall, with the 3D effects scenes aside, I think that this is one of the better F13 films that were produced.
Rating: Summary: A Great Sequel Review: I really enjoyed this one. This is the one where Jason get's his hockey mask which is the trademark of the series. I found this very entertaining and fun to watch.
Rating: Summary: "Let the bodies hit the floor...!" Review: "Friday the 13th, Part 3" will go down in history as the very first time Jason appears with his trademark hockey mask. The acting was okay, except Rachel Howard, who played Chilli, did an extremely bad job when her death scene came. Richard Brooker had had the honor of playing Jason Voorhees, and he was really good at it, but still, he's no Kane Hodder. If you buy this all-new on VHS or DVD the picture looks very new and up-to-date, but after you watch it a few times then it starts look more 80's style. Jason was extremely ugly (not that he isn't in the other movies) and that is what also conjured up some serious thrills, because you never know when he's gonna whip his mask up and show you his grotesque face! The script was pretty clever, and I thought such lines like "that teaches a valuable lesson, a pretty girl like you should never be out in the dark alone" (Shelly said this after he jumped out of the water at Vera, wearing his hockey mask) or "between you and Shelly I'm lucky I haven't had a heart attack yet" (quoted by Chuck after he got out of the "toilet" smoking yet another joint), were so important (along with a few others), that without them, this movie would be a wreck. I don't know why, I just do. Jason's key weapon is, in fact, the machete, which is his key weapon in "Friday the 13th, Part VI: Jason Lives", "Jason Goes to Hell: The Final Friday", "Jason X", and "Freddy vs. Jason" (which will be in theatres sometime in 2003. And finally, the body count was high enough and plenty gory. In conclusion, "Friday the 13th, Part 3" will make a nice addition to your collection, it did in mine.
Rating: Summary: He was so grotesque he was almost inhuman! Review: I think if the people involved in making these movies who have actually thought of a plot like wes craven did with the scream trilogy friday the 13th would have been a bigger success. I am amazed there still making these movies. The final chapter, the final friday, and then jason x. I guess jason changed his killings to saturdays now. Friday part 3 is a good chapter. This one I think jason has met a tough survivor, dana kimmel plays a better role that Ginny part2 and trish part 4. She isnt as hysterical as the other survivors, especially alice, but did kick jasons butt considering shes a woman. Best of all she was the sole survivor like part 1. Ofcoarse expect the usual sex, drugs and mangeled bodies. This one I think was more gory with the murder scenes. Jason not only stabbes but cuts a man in half while he was walikng on his hands, not fair, he didnt even know what hit him. Watch this film if you like suspense.
