Summary: WOW!
Review: I saw this movie when it was on TV a couple of months ago and really felt my skin crawling - I think the noises on the end of the phone had a lot to do with that! The eye peering from behind a door was pretty freaky too! A must-see movie that pre-dates most of the well known 'it's coming from inside the house' films. BUY IT!

Summary: Predate's Halloween
Review: This movie is GREAT!!!! Buy it if you love Halloween. The movie predate's Halloween shot kind of the same from the killer's eye's like Halloween. I love Halloween to death but this movie will push you to not have a second phone in your house.

Summary: No wonder hardly anyone's heard of it
Review: This movie is a joke, trust me. There are far, far scarier films out there.

Summary: Do not watch this movie alone.
Review: Think about it. It's Christmas time, you are a sorority sister living in the sorority house. Your head is filled with thoughts of the semester ending and heading home for the Christmas break. You answer a phone call and the sounds coming from the other end turns your blood to ice. And to top it off,the phone call is originating from your attic. Hence the plot of "Black Christmas". Sorority sisters, Christmas, Yule tide; sounds warm and comfy right? You couldn't be more wrong. On the surface the movie's set up doesn't sound so interesting. A Psycho in the attic of a sorority house knocking off the sisters one by one. But this movie is far from typical. The use of an eerie score, the fact that most of the scenes are shot at night, and the phone calls. The phone calls........ make for a truly frightening movie. People usually watch horror movies because they are entertaining. You know it's just a movie. "Black Christmas", although entertaining, leaves you with the feeling of uneasiness. So much so that you will have a hard time convincing yourself "it's just a movie". Keep telling yourself that after you watch "Black Christmas". I dare you to watch it with the lights turned off and pray the phone doesn't ring while watching it. "BBBIIIILLLLYYY".

Summary: SCARY SCARY SCARY CHRISTMAS
Review: I seen this movie years ago when I was a teenager i'm 39 now.I made my 5 year old niece sit up with me,she has yet to forgiveme! This movie is SCARY!! A creepy whodunit that makes you watch the doorknobs "is it turning?".With Margot Kidder as a how shall I say" foul-mouthed, booze-guzzlin, chain-smokin innocent college coed". She really works this roll.So lock the doors,go to the bathroom because you wont want to put your feet on the floor, sit back and get ready, because you will be freakin and peekin!!How many phone lines do you have?? Merry Christmas

Summary: CAN'T RECOMMEND IT ENOUGH, BUY IT!!!
Review: When this film was originally released, some newspapers' movie listings featured these curious little ad's, reading, "____ shopping days until Black Christmas", accompanied by an evil cartoon of Santa looking VERY nasty, with NO other explanation. Once the reason for these was finally made clear, well, it was worth the wait... BLACK CHRISTMAS is an absolute way-ahead-of-its-time, deserves-much-more-credit WHOPPER of a fright-film. It STILL scares the beejeezus outta me! From the creepy, mood-setting opening, to the sheer screaming "OH NO!" at the screen ending, it's great, in a very un-self-conscious way. The performances, while not outstanding, are very human, and full of delightful quirks and occasional tension-relieving laughs. The mood throughout is (to me) so satisfyingly BLEAK. ALSO, please note, unless I'm mistaken, this was the first use of the now-cliche'ed "actual location of the caller" trick. If the phone rings during or after you watch this, you'll jump outta your skin. Can't recommend it enough!!!

Summary: You'll never have (2) phones in the house agian!!!!
Review: I saw Black Christmas for the first time when I was in junior high at a Drive-In theater. I believe it was showing as the second flick of a twin-bill with the Exorcist. I could not sleep for a week after that night. Black christmas is one of my all-time favorite horror films. The voice on the phone still gives me "goose-bumps" ( What did you do with the baby, Billy!) I purchased the video in 1998 through amazon because i could never find it in the video stores. It is a fine addition to my collection. This movie along with John Carpenters "the Thing" are 2 of my favorites. I strongly recommend it.

Summary: Underrated is an understatement!
Review: It's a shame that in this age of dime-a-dozen horror flicks, a film as great as Black Christmas can be pushed into such obscurity. I've repeatedly tried to rent this movie, and have found that NO area video store (including Blockbuster) carries it. It's quite a shame, when I search the racks and can find Blackula, but no Black Christmas. If this review can accomplish anything, I hope it will inspire someone who has not seen this movie to take a chance on it! It's well worth the money.

Summary: Is Black Christmas The Scariest Movie Ever Made?
Review: Black Christmas may very well be the single most frightening movie ever made. True, it is not as slick or as effective overall as the unsurpassed masteriece it inspired, Halloween, but it is nonethelss a truly terrifying picture and one of the greatest genre movies ever made. The acting is completely believable, the suspense is unbearable, and those Phone Calls.... Not even the relentlessly unnerving opening sequence in When A Stranger Calls could possibly compare. I first rented the film because I had heard that it was extremely similar to Halloween, so I viewed simply for the purpose of making comparisons. Little did I know that I was in for the scare of my life. As a passionate and shameless horror movie obbsessive, I can safely say that I have seen just about every "scary movie" ever made, and yet I never, ever, EVER get scared. Yet I found myself tempted to shut Black Christmas off in several scenes; the intensity was that overwhelming. Don't let the cheesy cover art and lurid tag line dissuade you. Black Christmas is a knock out, with an ending that continues to send chills down your spine well after the movie is over. But be forewarned: viewers of this film are likely to have trouble sleeping, will probably hear strange voices coming from inside their closets, and are guaranteed to see men hiding behind open doors. If you scare easy...don't say I didn't warn you. But if you don't scare easy and would really, really like to....you've just stumbled upon The Holy Grail of horror movies.

Summary: Superior to Halloween
Review: I couldn't agree more with everything the other reviewers have said (and the fact that there are only six of you proves just how underrated, or at least unknown, the movie is). Black Christmas is superior to Halloween, and the latter flick was great. If only Clark had stayed in the suspense/horror genre, instead of gravitating to comedy, we might have had a Hitchcock for the '70s and '80s. I've seen this chiller at least six times, and always find something new to appreciate. Last viewing, it was the sound -- listen to that ever-ticking grandfather clock in the background, serving as a perfect complement to the howling wind outside and that rocking, rocking chair in the attic ...
