Summary: oh this is going to be horrible
Review: "freddy VS jason"..a movie that all freddy fans and jason fans have been waiting to see for years.
all of us back in the day when freddy was a huge success and anybody who was anybody loved freddy all thought this movie was going to be the greatest movie EVER!
well back in those days horror was at its best..now horror in general is at its all time worst..
now lets look at this movie..kane hodder isnt going to be playing jason due to the fact that ronny yu wants jason to have a little bit of a thin build..and even be a little "sympathetic" a side of jason im sure none of us wanted to ever see!
its almost like this movie dont belong to the enjoyment of the fans anymore..im sure ronny yu knew we had some great ideas for this..one of those ideas im sure we wanted was to keep hodder in freddy vs jason..to have jason be the monster we always loved..but noooo ronny yu wanted jason to be the good and caring jason we never saw.
another flaw about this movie is the fact that MISTAKES such as NEW NIGHTMARE and JASON X have killed the idea of having freddy vs jason.
bottom line is this...if your a true fan of the nightmare series then its worth a peek due to the fact freddys in this back to his old ways..but if your a die hard jason fan who pretty much got used to kane hodder then who knows..
but either way at least in my view FREDDY VS JASON is going to be down right horrible.
freddy vs jason does have the potential to be a great movie..but ronny yu didnt want to listen to fans and obviously didnt want to study the psychology of both the nightmare series and the jason series so thus..this will be a joke just like "bride of chucky" another series ronny yu had no idea about

Summary: Battle of the horror titans. Yes please!
Review: "Freddy Vs. Jason" has been the hot topic for horror fans for over 10 years now, having been re-written and shelved many times since it's inception after "Friday the 13th Part VIII: Jason Takes Manhattan". The results are, happily to note, better than one might expect.

The movie opens with a splicing of the classic Nightmare on Elm Street theme song, with Jason's trademark "Chi Chi Chi Ah Ah Ah" playing along. It is a sign of things to come. Freddy, bitter at the fact that he has beem forgotten, thus he is no longer powerful, summons up Jason to kill the remaining Elm Street children. Freddy's motivations are simple: "He'll get the blood, and I'll get the glory". Once he becomes a feared presence once more, he will have his power back and can continue his rampage. Unfortunately, Jason goes a little overboard and steals Freddy's spotlight. Freddy gets annoyed and, literally, all hell breaks loose.

For fans of slasher movies, you can do no better. There is plenty of blood and gore (perhaps the most of any slahser movie so far) and nudity to keep the fans happy. The acting and dialogue is pradictably inane, while the story suprisingly works. Considering all the ham-handed ways this could have been conceived, the final cut works well. It is a common mistake in later horror installments to take itself too seriously. By trying to inject an epic story, or give some new twist to try to explain old events, it only makes the movie weaker. This is a slasher movie, after all, so the formula shouldn't stray too far from what the fans love.

The two villians are equally menacing. Freddy (Robert Englund in his classic role) has his usual wisecracks and colorful moments, while Jason (newcomer Ken Kirzinger, who replaces Kane Hodder) does his best to both kill and take abuse in equal helpings. Special commendation should be given to the stunt work and special effects here, since they did a bang up job of making this the most violent and gruesome slasher movie ever. Kudos indeed.

Fans of both series have been waiting for this for some time, so they should be especially pleased. Non-horror fans should run for the hills. But for someone like me, who grew up with these slasher movies, this is a satisfying experience that exceeds expectations because it doesn't stink. Recommended.

Summary: Freddy Vs. Jason is an excellent horror movie!
Review: "Freddy Vs. Jason" is one of the excellent horror movies I have ever seen. Robert Englund returns in his signature role of Freddy Kreuger in this well made horror film that is a part of both the "A Nightmare On Elm Street" and "Friday The 13th" movies. Ken Kirzinger takes on the role of Jason Voorhees. Kirzinger is superb in his role as Jason Voorhees. Englund is just as superb as Kirzinger is. The directing by Ronny Yu is excellent and the screenplay & story is great. The production and costume design, the make-up and special effects, the cinematography, and the music are brilliant. Go see this movie now, I mean, right now!

Summary: the same material being reycled with a new title
Review: "Freddy Vs. Jason" seems like the horror fan's dream come true but it is rather boring and unoriginal. Even the sequels of the "Nightmare On Elm Street" and "Friday The 13th" series are much better than this film. I expected to see Jason and Freddy battle it out throughout the film but instead, they just end up killing stupid teenagers like they have done in all their movies. They only fight towards the end of the film and it is a draw. The film kinda gets interesting when Jason starts dreaming and we see what makes Jason tick; his mother (How Freudian) and its kinda interesting how they link up the past films into "Freddy Vs. Jason" but other than that, it is the same material being recycled with a new title. I can't believe this film took so long and went through so many scripts to end up as this pile of trash. "Freddy Vs. Jason" is a real waste of time and you should look for other "Nightmare on Elm Street" and "Friday the 13th" films for a better time.

Summary: "FREDDY VS. JASON"-Legends Never Die
Review: "FREDDY VS. JASON" was by far, bar none and without exception the most purely "fun" movie of 2003! Hardcore veteran fans as well as the uninitiated came out in droves to see the battle between Freddy Krueger (Robert Englund, in another perfect performance as the "dream demon") and Jason Voorhees (Ken Kirzinger, doing well in his first portrayal of the hockey-masked killer). Screenwriters Damian Shannon and Mark Swift created the perfect scenario in which to place these two icons together without straying from the original two series' plotlines. And you can just tell Ronny Yu had a blast directing with the intent that the heart of the film lie within classic 1940s monster-fests like "Frankenstein Meets The Wolf Man" and "House Of Dracula". Like those films, "FREDDY VS. JASON" isn't particularly scary but it is enormously entertaining, fast-paced and an absolute MUST for every single horror fan that ever debated in 5th grade study hall with friends just who would win in an unholy war between Freddy and Jason! Being a HUGE horror film fan myself, I paid and saw this film SIX times in theaters (twice on opening day itself). I was ecstatic when it made $36.4 million opening weekend with a final box office cume of $82.5 million in the USA alone. The day the DVD was released, I bought it and I have to say that it's probably the best and most complete DVD I have ever purchased. The two disc set is full of extras and bonus features that will keep you entertained LONG after you've watched the film a 7th, 8th, 9th time. Also, now that this disc is out and has already charted at #1 on the Top DVD Sales lists its first week of release, I'm sure we'll all be seeing a "FREDDY VS. JASON 2" in the future. And that would be just fine with me!

Summary: AWESOME
Review: "Freddy vs. Jason, place your bets" the trailer boasts. We horror fans druel at the rare possibility of a showdown between two of the biggest icons in the genre with high hopes of a spectacular knock down, drag out hack-a-thon. Of course there is also a good chance that they will disappoint the hardcore fans with a less than satisfying result. I'm happy to report they pulled it off and delivered not only an over the top blood drenched slug fest that more than lived up to the hype and did justice to the style and persona of both characters but also a kick ass movie overall.

I can't understand the few bad reviews that are out there, anyone who is a slasher/horror fan will love this movie which runs like a greatest hits of both Jason and Freddy. The storyline was surprisingly well thought out and makes perfect sense- Freddy needs to send someone to temporarily take care of his killing on Elm St. while he regains his old strength and Jason is the perfect guy for the job. As we all know Jason can get carried away, and he keeps on killing Freddy's victims, stealing the spotlight from Freddy if you will. Freddy realizes he can't control Jason and meanwhile the kids from Elm St. figure out the best way to save themselves is to bring him out of his realm and into the waking world where Jason will be waiting. So the stage is set for the greatest battle in horror history.

In the end, a movie like this should be entertaining, and it definitely is- with some downright scary and haunting images (the scene where we look into Jason's mind is crazy) some of the GORIEST killings ever, and of course truckloads of clueless teens getting naked and partying. They also kept the humor to a minimum which is a good thing. So for the hardcore slasher freaks this is obviously a must see but for horror fans in general I think it'll be a lot of fun too. Check this bad boy out!

Summary: SO INCREDIBLY RIDICULOUS IT HAD TO HAPPEN!
Review: "Freddy Vs. Jason" is the penultimate blood and guts fest that pits Freddy Kruger against the Crystal Lake psycho - Jason with inevitably predictable results. Conceding that this is a horror movie there is surprising little that's genuinely horrific about the killings. They're rehashed uninspired vignettes from a dozen other knock off, schlock and load junkies. The shock level hasn't been raised even if the budget for this film has.
TRANSFER: Good things to talk about here. A really pristine transfer that captures fine detail in the darkest of scenes - and believe me, they're dark! Colors are well balanced. Some minor edge enhancement and a hint of pixelization but really - it's only a hint. The audio is well balanced and just when you think things are getting too quiet it's sure to surprise and kick all five channels into action with all the visceral charm of bringing up one's lunch.
EXTRAS: Too many for a film who's plot is this thin. Only if you're a die hard fan of pure junk will you be encouraged to sit through the barrage of thought-numbing nincompoopery. I think it's about time both these murders hung up their torture devices and called it a night - a long one!
BOTTOM LINE: I love a good scary movie. This is nothing like one!

Review: ... This is a movie about two of the longest running horror franchises ever to be created ,and quite frankly putting them together only will make even more money. besides how long has it been since they made a "classic" horror movie that people would be interested in that you can just sit down and watch something that you have been scared of since you were a kid scare you and scare you some more. The plot seems very good and it seems alot better than any horror movie thats come out this year.I can't wait until Freddy vs. Jason comes to theaters.
