Summary: Disappointing
Review: This movie was cute but didn't follow the book very much. I would have liked to have seen the scene where Anne has her teacher over and finds a mouse in the jam. The biggest problem I had with the movie was that they combined Diana Barry's mom with Rachel Lynde to form RACHEL BARRY. Could they not afford two actreses? Rachel Lynde is essential to the story and all her children were grown and she was at least in her fifties in the book. Plus, they made Marilla much too harsh. And then there was a scene where Anne and Marilla kissed and it was sure a long kiss. Strange!

However, the acting was above par. I loved Anne Shirley and the guy who played Gil was charming.

If you really want to see ANNE at its best, I suggest that you buy the version with the supremely talented Megan Follows.

Summary: Horrible Transfer to DVD
Review: This transfer to DVD is terrible. There are horizontal grey-scale bands moving up the screen the entire movie, as though they had "filmed" this straight off a video monitor and not from a 35mm print. A wonderful movie spoiled by this annoyance.

Summary: Give it a chance and you may actually find out you like it!
Review: Well I watched this old black and white movie and I liked it and I don't understand the reviewers who gave it 1 or 2 stars or said they hate the movie even though they admit that they never watched it, I mean how could anyone give a bad or even a good review to a movie they've never watched? At least watch the movie to fairly give it a bad or good review and rating! I think if these people actually watched this movie they might shock themselves by finding out they actually like it! It may be old and black and white and not as good as the color movies with Megan Follows but that doesn't mean it's a bad movie, it's actually a pretty good movie! Okay so I'll get off my soap box and just say I love this movie and also the Megan Follows movies and would gladly own them all!
