Rating: Summary: A Classic For Every Generation! Review: 101 Dalmatians is a GREAT film! Kids will be rolling over laughing and be awestruck by what happens! Cruella De Vill wants a coat and will do anything to get it. But, this coat is going to be made of Dalmatian fur!Watch the rest of the movie and see if Cruella's cruel wishes come true. It is definitely NOT a boring film and I can't resist watching it once in a while!!!!
Rating: Summary: Masterful adaptation of Disney's animated hit! Review: 101 DALMATIANS is one of Disney's most adored animated masterpieces, and has been embrased by dog lovers around thew world. So the stuido needed to make sure that this live-action adaptation followed in it's footsteps--er, sorry, PAWprints. But they didn't have to worry--this has all the elements of a good live-action comedy, while not streching itself too far away from the goodness of animated. Glen Close is a devilish Cruella...Disney couldn't have picked someone better for the role. While it can be a bit scary for the youngest viewers, it's very entertaining and has just enough power to make you get goosebumps when she has screen time while not scaring you completly so you turn the video off--a little scare is refreshing now and then. While it doesn't have the animated characters, Disney is limited in what they can have the puppies do to escape--but where there lacks the power of anamation, there comes the power of comedy. There's always some zany way for the escape to happen--and there's also one more important element: the stupidity of Horrace and Jasper (Cruella's bumbeling henchmen.)To sum it up: While this is a little bit different from the animated classic we all remember, it's still got the spirit--and it's very much worthwhile to dog lovers, although I don't know how much certoam cat fatanatics will enjoy this..... ;O) (HIGHLY RECOMENDED. Essensial to any family's collection, this is something everyone can enjoy...unless, of course, you purrrrrfer cats and kittens.)
Rating: Summary: 101 Dalmatians Review: 101 Dalmatians was a bit of a surprise to me. I usually do not go for Disney/Pixar movies (especially the new ones), but this truly a classic. Sound - OK Picture - The quality of the picture (VHS) was not too great, it was scratchy. Movie - A+++++! This was good, and, although they spent a great deal of time outlining the characters, the story was great! However, they DID NOT need to make two new sequels with Glenn Close. I saw the first one in theaters and it was horrible and I'm sure "102 Dalmatians" is just as bad.
Rating: Summary: A good family movie, if not a towering classic Review: 101 Dalmations has a nice story and Disney really never surpassed this movie until Little Mermaid. The trouble, however, is the animation. I understand the challenge faced in trying to animate all those spots, and I realize that some people have convinced themselves that the style used is some fabulous milestone in animation (and it may actually appeal to some tastes). But to my my eyes, the animation style gives the movie a cheap look, more suited to a Pokemon TV show than a Disney movie. So all in all, a good movie that will mildly disappoint those expecting a towering Disney classic, but will still be enjoyable to most.
Rating: Summary: AMAZING Review: 101 dalmations is hands down the best and most underrated disney animated film in existence. The "live" version with Glenn Close was a complete insult and disgrace and did not even deserve to be made. And to go as far as "102" dalmations is a complete and utter disgrace. Skip those "versions" if you can even call them that, and please, please watch the cartoon version! It is amazing...the drawings are incredible and i respect the fact that this was created without computer assistance--i admire the artists so much. At times i forget that i am watching a cartoon. Not only is the art amazing, the characters a so well-developed (particularly cruella de vil) and the voices are suited perfectly to the characters. The story in itself is so clever and i never tire of watching it. This movie is AMAZING and should not be pushed aside.
Rating: Summary: *~cruella de~vil~*cruel~la de~vil~~* Review: a classic. no need for words. i never get tired of watching this. it's not even that easy to find elsewhere.
Rating: Summary: Bre's Review: A great movie for all the family! Strongly reminiscent of the cartoon version, this makes for one very enjoyable film. Glenn Close is simply stunning as Cruella. Whoever cast her is nothing less than a genius. However, the movie does tend to be more slapstick than real genuine humour.
Rating: Summary: Good not great film Review: As with the 1961 original, this was a good film only for Cruella. I am no fan of Glenn Close, but she was perfect in the part. Disappointed it did not have extras but glad to get it letter box.
Rating: Summary: Good, but I prefer "The Lion King" and "Aladdin"... Review: At the moment, Disney is reissuing their old films on 2 Disc DVD. I've already upgraded "The Lion King" and "Aladdin" and when they are released, I'll probably get "Lady and the Tramp" and "The Little Mermaid", but I'm probably not going to bother upgrading "101 Dalmatians". It's okay, but I don't think I want it on DVD as much as I do as the other Disney movies. The best things in the film include the outrageously bitchy Cruella De Vil (who has some of the most interesting mannerisms of a Disney villain) and the two songs "Cruella De Vil" and "Dalmatian Plantatian". Yet it is a bit slow in places and some of the animation is sketchy and messy. I'll recommend it, but I personally don't see myself going out to buy the 2 Disc Special Edition coming in the near future.
Rating: Summary: GREAT movie Review: But don't believe the Amazon.com quote "flat Saturday Morning style." It's a very graphic style, but derives it's influence more from the graphic movement in print ads and UPA cartoons rather than "Saturday Morning" animations which had not yet made ANY impact. The quote from Amazon.com cheapens the memory of the most successful stylized feature length endeavor Disney has ever made.
