Summary: Balto is cool as ice...
Review: Only drawback? It didn't follow the real historical story, in that there is the wolf vs dog conflict, something that would have never happened in a society that bred wolves and dogs together in order to create a better worker. If I'm not mistaken, huskies weren't even a "pure" breed at this time. One more thing... the DVD doesn't offer widescreen. :( Since this movie was originally in the theatres, I really was hoping for widescreen option.

Highlights? The voices are wonderful! The explanation of why a kid should be grateful for shots is very vivid and educational. The acceptance of himself to do the job teaches kids that what they think are weaknesses may actually be strengths when the chips are down. And the feel-good ending teaches kids that stereotypes can be overcome by showing people that you are more than they percieve, with the twist that if you show people a false front eventually they will see by your actions just what you are. The animation is top notch, the DVD allowing the option to freeze frame and really examine how well these people and animals were drawn. The connection to the real Balto by showing the statue in central park and a modern day Siberian Husky pup is great storytelling. And don't turn it off when the credits start rolling! The song, with it's lyrics, is one of my favorites and I have watched the video many times just to hear it.

In all, this is one of my favorite movies and I recommend it. I also recommend teaching your kid about the real Balto, who's story can be found in the public library among other places.

Summary: One of the best animated movies of all time!
Review: There is no film quite like Balto. It features top notch animation on par with any Disney film, an all star voice cast, a simple but well done plot (which is acutally based on a true story!). The best part, no annoying songs every 10 to 15 minutes! A must buy for fans of animation, at any age!

Summary: Wonderful!
Review: This is a film I have no problem recommending to anyone! Suitable for adults and children alike, Balto is a movie that first touched my heart back in 1995 when it was first released and continues to reign as my all-time favorite animated movie. Kevin Bacon delivers an excellent performance as the humble and timid, Balto, while the rest of the voice cast brings to life his simple but captivating world. I can't say enough about this movie. While it isn't exactly historically correct, the movie uses the true story of Balto as a stepping-stone into a tale about friendship, love, and what real courage is. Relaying a timeless message of excepting others for who they truly are, Balto is a movie thats perfect for helping children realize that hate, prejudice, and discrimination are evil poisons. It also delivers a message about loving those who hate you and that one person (or dog) can make a difference- they just have to be willing to stand up and step in. These are lessons that not just children but also adults need to be reminded of and this is just the movie to do that. Forget Disney for awhile and check out this true masterpiece from Universal.

Summary: Couldn't be a better film!
Review: This is a really good movie.I've been watching it for as long as I can remember. It's about a dog (part wolf)who is an outcast in Nome,Alaska. He's friends with a Russian snow goose called Boris (the funniest character in the movie) and 2 polar bears called Muk and Luk who can't swim. He's also in love with a dog called Jenna, and there's a villian called Steele.
When a disease strikes (with Jenna's owner, Rosie, among the sick) and the sled team sent to get the anti-toxin is lost, Balto must find and rescue the team and face avalanches, icicle falls and (of course) Steele.A brilliant movie.

Summary: It is a great heartwarming story
Review: This is such a good movie. The characters a funny and though the storyline isn't accurate it is a great children's movie. It makes me cry, I am admitting that, but when Balto and the White Wolf are howling I just break apart, I don't know why, but if you have kids who loves dogs get it, rent it however you can get it just see it.

Summary: A Beautiful Masterpiece
Review: This is the story of Balto, an outcast of the town of Nome because of his wolf heritage. He is teased and taunted by everyone in the town except Boris, Jenna, and Muk and Luk. When the town is plagued by a disease, Balto races to find his enemy, Steele, who is miles off the trail home. When things look bleakest, Balto is reminded by a familiar soul to look inside himself and release his despair and fears.
This is based on a true story but the real hero was all dog and already on a sled team. It also includes some live action scenes from a suvivor during the 1925 epidemic. A funny, heartwarming tale of a true hero, Balto is one of the best action movies around, but never got the recognition it deserved. Balto was honored with a bronze statue placed in Central Park and his body is still on display in Cleveland, Ohio, his birthplace.

Summary: Even grown-ups will love it!
Review: This movie is wonderful, my children love it! The story is compelling, and has prompted my kids to ask a lot about history as well as teach them lessons about perserverence and loyalty. I like this movie more than most of the Disney movies we have!

Summary: WONDERFULL!!
Review: This movie really captures the spirit of the wild. I love stories about sled dogs. I have always thought it would be awesome to live up north and be a musher. Is it true the ididarod race was created to commemerate this journey? I wish I could find out more about the true story. I think they should do a more adult(meaning non-animated) movie about the story of the 1925 run for medicine. Kind of more like an Iron Will thing. Muck and Luck didn't help anything though. They were the only things making the movie "cheezey" in any way. But this movie is awesome!!! great too!!
