Summary: A worthy buy !
Review: I bought this during the Holiday season to make use of my spare time catching up with Movies of the last few years. I found the player has lived up to the Panasonic brand name. Great features at a good price. Great value ! I have the following observations about the product:
1. Good quality picture output. Played scratched DVD with ease while others (Like Samsung DVD P231) were just not able to do that. In fact, I replaced my Samsung with the Panasonic S25.
2. Ease of operation directly on the DVD Player is good. Not so on the remote. Some of the remote control commands are difficult to navigate. I would say, it needs getting used to.
3. Audio output is not to my expectation. I would have to increase the volume atleast a couple of notches on my tv set in order to hear the dialogs clearly.
4. Response time from the remote is a little delayed
5. The player's noise is a little pronounced during very quiet scenes
6. Plays multiple formats pretty well especially VCDs and CDRs. Have not tried the other formats.

Overall a big thumbs up for this model.

Summary: Best DVD Player you can buy for the price
Review: I have seen many reviews for this product and it seems most of the bad reviews are from people who have no idea what they are talking about.

First of all, this DVD player will allow you to play any capable movies in TRUE DTS or Dolby digital surround sound. I have seen some sites claim it has optical digital inputs, which it doesn't. However, having experienced both coaxil and optical digital sound, I can hear little to no difference in the quality.

The main reason I purchased this player was to play DVD recordable formats and to have digital sound. Both my expectations have been met. I have tried several DVD-R and DVD+R recording formats and it has played all perfectly. CD-R's and VCDs also play perfectly.

As for the quality of Panasonic DVD players. Before this player I had another Panasonic DVD player that lasted me about 5 years with no problems what so ever. Maybe people have got a bad apple here and there. As for me, I have nothing but good experience with Panasonic equipment and would definitly recommend this player to anyone

Summary: What A Surprise!
Review: I am sorry to say that I did not read the other reviews until after I had made the purchase. However, I would like to thank all the other reviewers. The afternoon I came home with this Dvd player I made the connections with all of your help. I was then expecting it to blow up like my last 2 units. The last was a PlayStation 2 which made it for about 18 months used about 50/50 Dvd player and for game play. When I made it past the predicted 3 disk play with no audible internal noises. When it sounded much better than Sony's Toy. When the picture was so perfect. (Not a HD Tv)With its many picture modes from normal to dynamic, I finally relaxed and totally enjoyed this so far excellant players performance. It may go sooner than later, but for this priced right Dvd Panasonic player with most of the bells and whistles I would highly recommend you to give it a try. When it blows up I will report on its life span. However, for the here and now what a nice suprise.

Summary: Don't buy Panasonic DVD players until they resolve H07
Review: The motors on several Panasonic models have quit working after about a year. Do a search on "Panasonic DVD error code H07" in Google and watch what comes up. Until they get their act together I would avoid Panasonic all together.

Summary: Very Disappointed...2 defective units in a row!!
Review: I received this unit as a Christmas present, and used it 3 times in two weeks, then the unit failed to read any CD I tried to play. I re-read the owners manual and nothing worked. I then contacted Panasonic and their instructions failed as to what was wrong and it still was unable to read CD's. I then contacted Amazon and related my problem to them. Their customer service department was terrific and sent me a replacement unit (same model), which was used only twice and the same problem arose. I again contacted Amazon, who again were absolutely wonderful in helping me, said they would send me a prepaid label to return the second unit and would issue me a gift certificate for the purchase price of this gift. I cannot praise Amazon enough for their excellent customer support. I will think twice before I ever purchase a Panasonic product again, especially any of their DVD players. I will use my Amazon gift certificate to purchase a DVD player from another manufacturer, it certainly won't be a product from Panasonic. Keep up the good work Amazon...I will be a customer with you for a long time.

Summary: AVOID AT ALL COSTS. Bad motors HO error
Review: I also, thought that Panasonic still made quality. We were all wrong. Just out of warranty the motor quit (HO7 error) as have MANY,MANY others. I checked the google search and this problem runs through most of their product line. Bye bye Panny; hello Sony.

Summary: Panosonic best picture best sound best options
Review: Some of you who've read my previous reviews on DVD players may know I use to work at an electrinic store selling players. Now even though i dont work there the store manager alway has me try any new models of DVD players he recieves at my home for a given period of usually about a month,a month of hell for any player I will thuroly check them and Keep them playing about 18 hours a day. This player falls in line with panasonics 30's series player in short that means this is a great player i invite you to read my other DVD player reviews, that will give in depth what feature this player has check the panosonic 31-35 models their identical to thos although this is a little cheaper model which shows only in that it has no fiber optic out only coaxil.Click to go to my other reviews to get a better look at panasonic or dont bother and waste no more time and purchase (If you dont have to have or want fiber optic out)

Summary: Terrible
Review: This looked like a great DVD player, given its features and price. Unfortunately, it died after 18 months. Just like many other people who have bought Panasonic DVD players, the display reads "H02" whenever I put in a disc. This means that the motor can't spin up any more. My understanding is that it has burned out and costs just as much as a new DVD player to repair.

I won't buy Panasonic again.

Summary: Panasonic Died After Two Years
Review: I didn't purchase this one, but I would have to give the Panasonic DVD players a BIG Thumbs DOWN. I received the PANASONIC DVD-RV31 as a gift from Amazon.com two years ago. After limited household basic use, it just stopped working. I received an error message (HO2) and the Panasonic Service told me to go to a local repair shop. It will be cheaper to buy a new Player, so that's what I plan to do. I would strongly suggest another brand of DVD player (JVC is what I have for other components with much success). I'll never get Panasonic again!!!!
