Summary: Clunky, not worth the price
Review: Despite the Denon name and the relatively high price tag, this is not a great DVD player. There are distinct, noticable pauses between layer changes, and the user interface is clunky and slow.

Review: I disagree with the folks pooh pooh'ing this player. I have this player hooked up into a samsung 61" dlp projection tv and the video is awesome whether you are watching you've got mail or terminator. What you need to do is read the manual...unlike many of the older dvd players, this player has a set up menu which allows you better match the output quality with the capabilities of your TV.

Summary: Pass if by if you have a Sony widescreen
Review: I have the DVD-910 and the image flickers when connected to a sony wide-screen tube television. It seems that several others are having the same problem, so you may wish to pick another player if you have a Sony KV-34XBR800, KV-34HS510 or KV-30(or 34)XBR910.
Apart from the flickering, the player works fine and the image is very clear. The DVD-910 was rated very highly on the Secrets of Home Theater webpage.

Summary: Good Player
Review: I purchased this Denon for use with a new Sony KV34HS510. I had a 6 year old Onkyo 600 that had an awesome picture but,it did not have progressive scan, nor did it play CD-R's (this always bothered me). I first bought a SONY DVPNC665P & SONY DVPNS725P, both are fine DVD players, but the 725P is poor on progressive scan and the 665P had a good picture but lacked the three dimensional picture quality that the Onkyo has. I then tried the ONKYO DVCP701, which produced very subtle green spots. At first thought I was crazy, but then it became very evident on movies like BlackHawk Down, with an almost entirely tan earth tone back ground. So, I took it back to the store and this time decided to try the Denon (I hadn't read the previous reviews). Well, it works great! The picture quality and sound quality are excellent, and I do not have any of the issues that the previous reviews mentioned on my Sony TV. The Denon plays my DVD-RW & DVD+RW's without any problems. I will say for all those that label their DVD+R or DVD-R's, the Denon does not like the labels and will cause freezing or skiping. This does not happen with labeled CD's. Over all this is a good quality player at a low price ( especially compared to other Denon models).

Review: If only I had stumbled upon the earlier review BEFORE wasting my time by: purchasing this player; taking it home and encountering flickering whem playing on my Sony XBR; exchanging it for another of the same model (having assumed that I just got a lemon); and then returning home to find the same flickering. Now a third transaction is necessitated, and suffice it to say I will not be going with a Denon. Pathetic that they have failed to correct this apparent incompatibility w/ a major maker like Sony.
