Description:

At little more than two inches in height, this JVC player is as sleek as it is powerful. To ensure the integrity of its video and audio, JVC built the XV-N5SL with separate construction throughout, from the power supply and digital circuitry to its analog video and audio circuits. The player offers premium-quality progressive-scan video (for use with a high-definition or HD-ready TV) and JVC's custom 1-bit P.E.M. D.D. digital-to-analog audio converter with 192k Hz/24-bit resolution. Oh, yes--the unit will also play your MP3 music and JPEG image CDs.

JVC's Digital Direct Progressive Scan Output, quantified as 480p for the number of horizontal lines that compose the video image, creates a picture using twice the scan lines of a conventional DVD picture, providing higher resolution and sharper images while eliminating nearly all motion artifacts. High-quality component-video outputs help minimize line scan and digital artifacts on compatible televisions, while composite- and S-video outputs assure compatibility with nearly any set. JVC's versatile VFP (Video Fine Processor) allows seven parameters of advanced picture adjustment, including gamma, brightness, contrast, color, tint, sharpness, and "Y delay." In addition to two factory presets (normal and cinema) there are two user-selectable memories.

A single set of left/right analog-audio outputs channel audio to Dolby Pro Logic receivers and stereo televisions. Both Dolby Digital and DTS 5.1-channel surround-sound signals can be routed through the player's digital-audio outputs (one each coaxial and optical) for direct connection to a full-featured audio/video receiver. If you don't have a surround receiver or six-channel speaker setup, you can still make every movie night the ultimate experience: 3D-Phonic virtual surround sound simulates surround through two speakers (even the stereo speakers on a TV). Playback options include digest (for visual access to desired title/chapter), resume (bookmark), parental lock, and picture zoom. The player comes with a composite-video/stereo analog-audio interconnect, user's manual, and a multi-brand remote control.
