Summary: LASTED A MONTH PAST WARRANTY
Review: After reviewing and deciding to buy this unit, I was satisfied with the performance until 13 months after buying....wont turn on out of standby. The problem is, it is cheaper to buy a replacement than get fixed based on labor and parts. However, my next unit will not be a JVC as the timing at one month out of warranty is not a good sign.

Summary: Very disappointing!
Review: As soon as it was out of the box and an hour into a movie, it starts messing up, freezing, blocks, etc. Certain chapters almost always messed up on all dvd's we tried to watch and a brand new Disney dvd "101 Dalmations" the JVC wouldn't even play it at all! Also, seemed the more info the dvd had on it, the worse problems it had. (Small Sample disc's worked great) Maybe we got a defective JVC...but we ended up with a Sony that plays All our dvd's and plays them with no problems.

Summary: Excellent Design, Lots of Functions BUT...
Review: Got this at Circuit City. I hooked it up to my digital receiver and the sound was crystal clear. Good picture quality and they are lots of functions for this unit - DVD, MPEG, JPEG (never tried JPEG though). Thus, a progressive scan for this price, I think it is unbeatable. The design was slim and simple.

Only problem was it would not read any DVD after my 3rd DVD, I think mine was either faulty or there is something that was wrong with it's optical head. I was not able to skip over that part also. Bummer. I thought it was the DVD from Hollywood but after getting another one, it gave me the same problem. The DVD did not have any scratches at all.

Oh well, it's back for a exchange, I think the panasonic model which plays WMI (Windows Media Format) is something worth looking into though the design it a bit less refined.

Buyers beware...

Summary: Nice player for the price
Review: I bought this after returning a Philips DVD724AT that was defective. I'm very glad I made the switch as the JVC unit has more features and is built better. I had a non-progressive scan JVC DVD player for years before this that has always been very reliable.

The only downside is the JPEG file viewing is so slow it's not worth bothering with. On the other hand, I didn't buy this unit for the JPEG feature anyway so I don't really mind.

Summary: A Great machine
Review: I checked all the ratings on this DVD player. They were all good,
except for maybe 1. This is my first DVD Player and I've had no problems with it. So far I have had it for 6 months.
I'm glad I bought this model. Also very easy to hook up.

Summary: No Memory of where you left off?
Review: I give this DVD player a 4 out of 5 only because I was used to a feature on our old DVD player that when you turned off the machine, if you did not eject the DVD- it kept your place in memory so that the next time you turned on the DVD player you could resume watching the DVD from that point on. This one, if you turn it off you have to use the scene selections to find where you were, there is no resume play (once turned off) or memory. It is compact, slick in appearance and plays DVD's well, no other complaints from us.

Summary: Great unit for the price
Review: I just received this unit today and am very impressed. It does everything you would want (Progressive scan DVD, MP3, JPEG) and has a very nice user interface. The digest feature, similar to a scene seletion screen, is cool, and the zoom and strobe features, while a little unusual, are fun to play with.

A Great Buy!!

Summary: Awesome Features at an Awsome Price
Review: I ordered this dvd player based on many reviews in a lot of electronics magzines and on the net and it is everything they say it is.This player will play everything you can put in it and does it flawlessly. There are so many features on this dvd player you wont find on other models at higher prices.I can't say enough good about this purchase and with the free shipping it was the best deal going.I priced this player out locally and could not find it for very cheap!I also own a JVC vcr and it is going on its' sixth year and still going strong. If that is any indication of their products I expect a long life from this dvd player.

Summary: A Winner
Review: I purchased this DVD player after doing some research -- it is highly rated by Consumer Reports. When I got to the store, I compared this player with a Sony model and two Toshibas which were equally well-rated. I purchased the JVC because I have a JVC TV, the price I paid was reduced and it had all the features I wanted. The picture is crystal clear, the sound terrific and set-up and installation was simple. At this price, this is a terrific machine and a good value.
