Summary: Good Product, Poor Value
Review: I'm disappointed with the Panasonic DVD-RP82S only because I bought to much of a player. The progressive processor may be fabulous (according to other posts) but isn't quite as good as my Pioneer Plasma 433cmx built-in processor. I now realize I only needed a simple DVD player with digital output selling for $... (1/3 of the RP82S price).

Review: I'm disappointed with the Panasonic DVD-RP82S only because I overbought the player. The progressive processor may be fabulous (according to other posts) but isn't quite as good as my Pioneer Plasma 433cmx built-in processor. I now realize I only needed a simple DVD player (with a good MPEG decoder) with digital audio output selling for $... (1/3 of the RP82S price).

Summary: Better than I could have imagined!
Review: It took about 3 weeks of research and comparison, but I finally decided on this deck for my DVD player. The list of features is amazing, it has everything you could possibly want from a DVD player. It is also a very nice looking deck, with a mirrored front and a slim design, it looks great on the rack! Besides the looks and features, the performance is what really sets this deck apart. I demoed MANY decks in this price range, and even some more expensive, and I have yet to see a picture comparable to the RP82S. It even makes my older Sony Trinitron look like a million bucks! The only drawback is the remote, with its' small buttons and awkward layout. Oh well, I guess not everything can be prefect, but in the competitive world of DVD decks, the RP82S comes pretty close.

Summary: Best DVD player under $[price] dollars
Review: Well I don't know where to begin. All I can say is buy this player. Even though it's a little more then some of the other player, the extra performance you get is well worth it. Right now there is still not a perfect DVD player, not even the TAG,Krell,Denon,Camelot are perfect. But since we are still waiting for the best to arrive we will have to make do. This player will hold us over till it get's here. And to think it's pretty cheap. First this dvd player has the best mpeg decoders available at this moment. What that means is you'll have one of the best pictures available, matching performance in players costing thousands of dollars. It's chroma bug free, very few players are. If you need to know what the chroma bug is research some of the home theater forums online. It has gamma correction. This player also has excellent sound for your DTS and Dolby Digital DVDs. It's also a ok cd player, though not great. It's also pretty good with the new DVD-Audio format. I'm not big on multi-channel audio of old recordings, though some of the newer recordings designed for multi channel are good. I actually perfer Super Audio CD because I find stereo more natural. But I considered this additional feature well worth the extra $... dollars over a average player. The only problem you might find with this players DVD-Audio feature is that it does not have bass management. It does have a bass management feature for everything else. Just so you know what DVD-audio is(it's the music only format and not related to DVD movies). But again very few DVD-Audio players have it. Since it's such a new format. If you have any questions just ask.
