Summary: If You Want More Letters, Get the DVD Version
Review: "Winnie the Pooh ABC's" is an original Winnie the Pooh story designed to teach rhyming, words and letters. Rather than straight, rote learning, this is presented in the form of a half-hour adventure. Things all get started when Christopher Robin introduces Pooh to a book of rhymes about the characters in the Hundred Acre Woods. Christopher Robin lets Pooh borrow the book and soon Pooh and all of his friends are learning about rhymes, words, reading and the alphabet, with some help from wise old Owl.

One of the major complaints about this movie seems to be that it only introduces a few letters. If this is a concern for you or your child, then I recommend making sure you get the DVD version and not the video. It has a wonderful special feature that goes through the alphabet thoroughly, having the characters teach each letter in both upper and lower-case and associated words. Adults will probably get bored with this pretty quickly, but it'll be dead useful for your kid(s). There's also an ABC song with scenes from "The New Adventures of Winnie the Pooh" that's quite worthwhile.

Overall, if you want your kids to learn the alphabet, or just wanna see another good Pooh story, I'd say you can't go wrong with this, especially if you get the DVD version. Also included on the DVD version is a Fast-Play option and previews for movies such as "Mulan II" and "Pooh's Heffalump Movie," as well as the original trailer both this and the 123s video / DVD.

Was there anything else I wanted to say? Oh, bother. Think, think, think...

Summary: Expected More !
Review: I bought this for my 3 year old who doesn't seem interested in learning his ABC's. I thought at the very least the video would go through each letter but seems to only touch on the beginning letters of the Pooh characters. (The rest of the alphabet can be viewed in the extras) I was VERY DISAPPOINTED and it did not hold my child's interest well at all. It was recommended I buy the Leap Frog Letter Factory DVD and it is EXCELLENT, my son has learned the alphabet and most of the phonics sounds in two weeks!
Don't buy this, not much bang for your buck.

Summary: Does Little to Entertain Much Less Educate
Review: Pooh! I can't believe I spent $15 on this video. It is soooo BORING and miserably lacking in educational value. My little girl wouldn't give it the time of day. I had patience, though, and waited to see how it might redeem itself by creatively introducing letters and sounds to promote alphabet recognition and beginning phonics skills. Disney should have hired a phonics instructor or a reading teacher to guide them in learning theory before promoting this movie as "educational." Good for the Pooh collector, that's it.

Summary: Only 30 minutes long!!
Review: This is not a movie, as you might expect for the cost, but only one 30 minute long episode! While it is cute and very nicely done, I couldn't believe how short it was. They should have put both the ABC's and 123's on the same disc for this price! What a rip-off (albeit a cute one)!

Summary: Few letters, but teaches them well
Review: This video does only teach a few letters (P, R, T, O, E), but it teaches them incredibly well. My daughter (3 yrs) has only been watching it once a day for a week and she can write all of those letters. None of the other kids in her class can write them. Most importantly, she is very excited about being able to write letters now! This video has really primed her for learning to write. I was initially disappointed that only 5 letters were covered, but once she started writing them, all my disappointment went away.

Summary: Big Disappointment!!!!
Review: This video entertains my 21 month old, as do other Pooh videos, but I bought this for educational purposes. I was highly disappointed to see that the "A", "B" and "C" named in the title were not even presented ~ Only the first letter of each of the character's names were. I thought the title was very misleading and do not recommend this to anyone interested in using it as a learning aid for the alphabet. The Pooh - 123's video is excellent with it's presentation of numbers and counting from 1 to 10.

Summary: Very Disappointing
Review: This video promises to teach your child the alphabet but only presents, I believe, 5 of the 26 letters. It speaks more of rhyming than of letters and proves to be somewhat confusing to it's base audience. My almost 2 1/2 year old daughter, who already knows the alphabet by sight, was bored with this movie. It does not come close to it's sister video "Winnie the Pooh's 123's" which is educational and wonderfully done.

Summary: Winnie the Pooh ABC's
Review: Very enchanting movie! Not a comprehensive spelling lesson as the editorial review says, but nonetheless, a great starting point for letter recognition and sound. My 2yo absolutely loves this one and also the 123 video too. Definitely favorites in our house:o)

Summary: Stay-at-home mom
Review: We bought this before they even got it on the shelf. I saw a preview on the Disney Channel and it look good. So we went out and got it. It is great!! The main movie teaches the kids about rhyming, sounds letters make, how to make letters and working together. The extras have a cute letter song but the best extra is the how to write your letters and things that start with that letter.
The songs are cute and make you want to dance along with Pooh.
