Summary: A little boy's Christmas fantasy comes true.
Review: I saw this movie in the theater when it first came out, and I knew immediately that I wanted to own it on video. It has so many things that make it a great movie. There is the main character, Ralphie, with his boyhood dreams of getting the "bad guys" with a Red Ryder BB gun; the mom who has the right mix of zaniness and motherly compassion; and Darren McGaven is great as the dad with all kinds of eccentricities, but in the end comes through for Ralphie. The family is great, and the little vignettes are hilarious. I especially liked how they went to a Chinese restaurant for Christmas dinner, and the rules of how to dare a friend to stick his tongue to a frozen flag pole. This movie has so much charm, humor, and innocent sweetness that it has become one of our family traditions, along with Charlie Brown, the Grinch, and George Bailey.

Summary: CLASSIC.
Review: I'll get right to the point, this is the best $$$$$ you'll ever spend on a movie. It's funny, it is also a tear jerker, and most of all it is America, our families, everyone can relate to this 1940's setting type film. Since I watched my first tape so much my vcr ate it I am happy to see it here on amazon.com. To all of you who have watched this hilarious flick and to amazon for offering it, "Thanks A lot!!" LOL!

Summary: A Necessity for the Holidays
Review: "A Christmas Story" is the best film for the holidays, bar none. The trials that Ralphie goes through are the same for kids growing up in the 40's, 60's or people in my generation, the 1980's. I grew up watching this film, and many of its lines have become part of my speech pattern. Whenever I hear the phrase "Sonsofbitches," I automatically say "Bumpasses!!!" Peter Billingsly used to do commercials in Indianapolis portraying a local weatherman as a child. Although I don't know where he is today, he will always be the kid who wants an "official Red Ryder Carbine action two-inch range model air rifle with a compass in the stock and this thing which tells time."

... Poetry. Sheer poetry.

Summary: A true classic, even for a baby boomer born in 1960!
Review: A must for every family! This film is a classic and though it takes place in the 1940's, the story line is contemporary. A great way for parents to share the idea times have changed but there are some things about childhood and that never change!

Summary: It was just like being there.
Review: The story of Ralfie may have been fantesy, but the things he went through was like a reality to me. Wanting something so bad, and doing anything and everything to achieve that goal, proves that where there's a will, there's a way.
