Summary: Great Mini DVD Player!!!!
Review: Great dvd player I got it for my 11th birthday. It is very nice has tons of features and has a 7 inch screen. LCD is very clear at an affordable price. Would buy for double what I payed! Alot better than the Poloried for a certain price and the guy at Best Buy said that he did not reccomend it. I love this player!!

Summary: audiovox...hmmm
Review: I am writing this review in hopes that you will listen to my warning and not buy this player. I wish I had listened to the reviews on other websites that gave the same warning. I bought this 6 months ago for my daughters birthday. Most of its use was in the house, hooked up to an extra television. I must admit that when it worked there was no problem with picture quality or sound etc. I now get a message that says "no disk". I now noticed the box does not mention the 90 day warranty, you have to read that after you buy it. I guess after I read the warnings I thought those things only happened to other people, I was wrong. You have been warned.

Summary: Battery Problems
Review: I bought this DVD player and after 3 months (used it 2 times) the battery won't take a charge. I called customer service and they said it would cost $100 just to look at the unit. I refuse to pay $100 just to have the unit looked at. I will cut my losses and but a better brand. STAY AWAY FROM AUDIOVOX!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Summary: You get what you pay for.
Review: I bought this unit at a warehouse store. We have it strung up in the minivan for the kids to watch. We too get the no disc message, but thats when we leave it in the van overnight in very cold weather (less than 45 degrees). So, we pull it out everynight and pop it back in every morning. It does what we need it to do. If it breaks we'll buy something a little tougher to handle the temp extreme's. Otherwise, it is 5 months in and still functioning.

Summary: My problems with the d-1708
Review: I like the picture that the 1708 produces, but when playing dvd-r and +r's and +rw's the disc skip no matter what brand I use,and there is a motor noise when playing disc that can be heard on the right channel when using headphones.I'm sending it to audiovox for repairs. It seems to skip or strobe every 10 to 20 seconds so this could bs a firmware problem. The only workaround with the audio problem is to use the audio out in the back of the player you won't hear the motor noise, but the volume level is fixed, so you would need an headphone volume controller to adjust it, which can be bought.

Summary: 19 hours straight and going strong!
Review: I've read lots of reviews that said after a few hours the screen shut down, and you could hear the movie, but not see it. The back of the Audiovox screen gets hot after 3-4 hours (which I think is normal) so we would shut it off for about 30 minutes, and hoping it would be fine. We have had it for a month, taken several 3-4 hour trips and two 19 hour trips and it is working great. It is easy to use, my 7, 9, and 10 year old kids can work the controls on the player to start the movie, and they like being able to go through the special features on their own now. They all claimed to have a great view while watching in the backseat of our truck. The player also has a contrast adjust which really cut down on the amount of glare on the back window, compared to the TV/VCR we used to use. We used the car adapter the whole time in the car, but I have used the battery for small periods, just to finish up the movie they were watching. I have hooked it up to a TV and it worked as if it were a regular DVD player, with quality sound and picture. I plan to set it up as our second DVD player in the house.

Summary: Stopped working on day 2
Review: My son won this at school through a magazine sales promotion. We hooked it up that afternoon and verified that it worked. The next morning, the drive failed to spin. Audiovox won't respond to any request for help - at least, not without a store receipt. Fortunately, we didn't lose any money, but what good can come from giving a child something that does not work?

Summary: Life Saver....
Review: We purchased this DVD player for our children last year and it has been a life saver. We have two boys and travel a lot. We purchased a splitter and two head sets and off we go. Our DVD player has been dropped, stepped on, sat on, you name it, it's been done and it's still going strong. We love the slimline and the size of the wide screen. The clarity and color is so clear. Another plus about our Audiovox, after looking at several other name brands we found that the sound on this brand was great. Others you could hardly hear turned all the way up, even with headphones. This has become a staple in our home...if it broke I would be going to find another (Audiovox)!!! You will not regret it!!!
