Summary: DVD Player Broke within 3 months of purchase!
Review: This DVD player broke down within 3 months after I purchase it.
I first contact the APEX by phone, and was on the phone waiting for over 30 min. Once I told the operator what I need, I was put on hold again until the phone call got cut off.

Then I tried to email APEX with the email address list on their web site, and email got bounced back.

So I registered myself with APEX and emailed them about the problem. Of course, no reply either.

Very disappoint at the customer service and the product quality.

Summary: Thought it was good deal. Guess NOT!!
Review: It started out great !!! Played all kinds of formats. And it was affordable.

Then at about 3 months old, it died. The problem I have is the same problem customer support has as a FAQ. That's not a good sign (means that it happens alot!!)

My unit is dead (no power) and I can't get a response from customer service !!!! to fix it.

btw - this unit will NOT play the latest DVD's either (dual layer, like Alias) and Disney movies. hmmmm....

Personally I understand things happen to electronics, what puts the nail in their coffin is that I can NOT get hold of customer support !!!!

Summary: A TRUTHFULL ASSESMENT OF THE APEX AD-2600.
Review: THIS IS A GOOD LITTLE MACHINE, LITERALY IT IS VERY THIN, GREAT LOOK AND EASY TO OPERAIT. THE OLDER APEXS HAD VCR LIKE MENUS BUT THIS ONE LOOKS LIKE A COMPUTER WITH ITS MENUS. ITS LITTERAL MEADIA PLAYER, HAS A VERY NICE AND COMFERTIBLE INTERFACE, IN FACT THE ONLY PROBLEM I HAVE WITH THIS SYSTEM IS THE LETTERING ON THE DISPLAY, KEEP IN MIND FOLKS THIS IS ONE OF APEXS FIRST ATTEPTS AT AN DIGITAL DISPLAY. SO LET IT RIDE, I CANNOT WAIT TILL THE NEXT APEX COMES OUT, IT WILL ETHER SINKEM OR CARRY THEM INTO 2010. DONT BUY A KOSS EMERSON OR ANYTHING ELSE, GET THIS ONE IF YOU NEED TO SAVE MONEY. YOU WONT BE SORRY. EVEN PLAYS MY VERYVERY SCRATCHED DVDS. THANK YOU

UPDATE*

AND PEOPLE I AM SICK AND TIRED OF THE BAD REVIEWS, READ YOUR MAUALS, LIKE THE BLACK AND WHITE WITH SCROLLNG PROBLEM, DUH, READ UP ON PAL/NTSC SETTINGS. ITS ALL THERE. AND MANY MANY OTHER PROBLEMS LIKE THAT ARE JUST ID-10-T ERRORS (IDIOT) AND THERE IS SUPPORT, WWW.APEXDIGITAL.COM YOU CAN CALL THEM. (...)

Summary: Plays all types of media
Review: I bought this player to replace a Sony that always skipped on DVD's with even the slightest scratches. I was delighted to find that not only does this DVD player work perfectly, it also plays horribly scratched disks without blinking. As a test, I put in an old CD with nasty gashes on it that I couldn't get my other player to even recognize as a disk. The Apex played it perfectly.
The build quality does not seem to be the greatest, but I have not had any problems with it after a couple of months. At this price, who cares if it breaks in a year.

Summary: Poor quality - problem with dual-layer DVD's
Review: Player has a problem with dual-layer DVD's such as Alias Season 1 and Season 2. For the money, get a better quality player. Player works and looks great - if you can get the DVD's to play. I know the saying is "you get what you pay for" but at this stage of game DVD players must have better quality than this - there is no excuse. Will never purchase APEX again. Customer Service and Technical Support are overloaded and nonresponsive - tells you about the quality of their products and their willingness to stand behind them. Pass this player up, and never believe the reviews on a product right before Christmas!

Summary: Has DESTROYED several of my DVDs and CDs.
Review: For the first few weeks, this player was everything I expected it to be, an affordable multi-format DVD player with a stylish slim case as advertised... Then my DVDs would stop playing in the middle, or not even be read at all. New CDs almost always began skipping after a few plays. I thought it was just the player, but then I started checking the discs to find that the Apex 2600 is actually ruining my media. There are funny little ridges on the DVD that look like the slice of a tree trunk! This player is not worth any price and I recommend that you don't purchase it. I intend to contact the company, but from what I've read... I just got screwed out of fifty bucks. Apex doesn't answer the phone. *Sigh.*

Summary: Great Value
Review: I bought this APEX 2600 DVD player for myself at Christmas because it got good reviews as a good value for the money on a variety of different sites. I took it to my father's house to play a Tom Jones concert DVD and he loved the player so much I gave it to him. Now I need to buy myself another one! Have used it frequently and have had no problems. I always research electronics online before I buy because even within the same company, some models are better than others. I liked this one enough to buy another. My dad also has an APEX TV and it was another great value for the money. Great quality picture and features.

Summary: 2 Out of Three Ain't Good
Review: Thought I'd weigh in here with my stats. I've bought 3 Apex DVD players now. They play just about everything, but #2 and #3 died very shortly after getting them. I am back to using #1. Nice machines, but I consider their quality pretty low now.

Summary: Buy a better known brand name
Review: This item broke just two weeks after I gave it to my kids for Christmas. The door would not close. I tried to contact APEX to return it (I missed the Amazon return period) and it took 3 months to get through to their customer service dept. I am still trying to resolve it four months later.
