Summary: sneaky
Review: I got this as a gift for Xmas. At first, when playing a DVD, it would just stop in the middle of the DVD and you would have to reload the DVD and fast forward to the part. After two months, it will not play DVD's at all -- the screen just says "DVD Open" even when it is closed, and impossible to get it to work. When you try to call the warranty number shipped with the DVD for Argus Electronics, the number is out of order. When you try to return the gift on Amazon's Return Center, there is apparently a bug on the site (have been trying to return it for over a week) and the return options for a gift do not appear. All in all, this has been a nightmare!

Summary: ok so far...up until just now
Review: I got this dvd player and was worried about the other reviews others had left. But nevertheless I bought it anyway and it works just fine. No problems at all, small and I can't see what what the other reviewer's were talking about. Some other reviewer talked about downloading something from some website, which I couldn't find at all in the instruction manual. Although, just now I put in Rocky Horror Picture Show and it starts to work, then the CD stops spinning, spins again for a minute then stops, like the DVD player is struggling. I don't believe I'm having the same problem with other DVDs. Well if the system gets messed up the first thing I will do is change this review so nobody buys a bad DVD-player. Oh and I've had it about 2 weeks now. Good luck with this thing, remember if you get it and its messed up, you can always send it back.

Summary: Perfect DVD player for my bedroom.
Review: I love the design of this DVD player. I needed something to play my DVDs and my VCDs, and this product does exactly that. It also plays CDs and MP3s as stored as files on a regular CD-R. It does not show a slide show of photos when you insert a CD with photo files on it, but, to me this product is still well worth the price.

Summary: Works sometimes
Review: I purchased this as a gift for my parents and this thing is very fickle. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. And it doesn't matter what DVD you play it will never work the same. I would not purchase this item again.

Summary: a pretty cool unit
Review: i was searching around for something to gift my room mate christmas when i came across this unit. it is a very sleek looking system without the flab of the usual dvd playes that we see. plus it is pretty good and response times are great too.
and the best part is that being only a little bigger than a conventinal discman, it is extremely portable especially if you tend to travel a lot. it gets my full marks.
the remote could have been designed a little more sleeky, but it has all the basic functionality.
a good deal at 90 odd dollars if you ask me.

Summary: Owned it for a year
Review: I've had this model for a year now. No major problems. We watch 5-10 dvd's per month. Works great for the price.

Summary: Hope this was just a fluke, because it was awful.
Review: Maybe I just had a bum unit, but I had problems with this thing right out of the box. I popped in my first movie, and it displayed the message, "No disc." So I took the disc out and put it in again and got the message, "Open." I took the disc out and put it in a few more times, until it finally acknowledged the disc and that its lid was closed. However, 3/4 of the way through the movie, it just stopped playing for no reason, suddenly saying "no disc." I managed to restart it, and watched the last 1/4 of the movie with no problems. I was hoping that these were isolated incidents, but they weren't. This problem started on Friday, right after I hooked it up. On Saturday, it became more and more of a struggle to play a disc. At one point, I just had to let it rest for an hour and go back before it would acknowledge that it was indeed closed, and indeed contained a disc. By Sunday, it gave me the message that the lid was open no matter what I did, and the thing was useless. I'm shipping it back and buying a totally different unit. I am very disappointed because I loved the looks of the thing, the remote was easy to figure out, and given the very limited space in my entertainment center, the size was perfect. But if it doesn't work, it doesn't matter if it looks pretty. Hope others are having better luck with this unit, and that my bad luck was just a fluke, but I'm not willing to re-try to find out.

Summary: fickle DVD player
Review: Often isn't able to play DVDs that I've owned for sometime and new ones right out of the jewel case. Can't understand why this is occuring and to make matters worse, phone provided with manual is no longer in service and the web-site no longer exists as well. Piece of crap, if you ask me,

Review: Ok lets be real...this is a cheap dvd player...very cheap...you cant really exspect 2get a lot out of it...i had got it for my dad for xmas...it lasted about a month..then when he was watching "minority report" it wouldnt play pass the part where tom cruise is going in the train...it just froze up then it started skipping on other movies i played...the movie had just came out of the package so it was not like the disk was damaged. It could of just been my unit that was defective...buy it and try it...if it dont work just send it back.
