Summary: Stutters on every disc
Review: So far I have tried to play Close Encounters of the 3rd Kind, Jacob's Ladder, and The Big Lebowski, and periodically the picture freezes or slows down and the audio cuts out for a second. <Sigh.> I should have known better: you get what you pay for.

It is a nice unit except for the fact that it doesn't work. :-\
Nice remote, nice outputs (coax, optical, s-vhs).

Review: The ad does not say anything about speakers or sub woofer?

Summary: Worked great......for a while
Review: The title basically says it all. We used it exclusively until we got the Xbox (which is now our main game and dvd player). We then moved the Daewoo to the back bedroom and didn't use it for a while. The next time we tried to play a dvd, the player would power on, but wouldn't read any dvd when put in it.

I didn't try to get it serviced because I figured it would probably be more of pain to get it fixed than to just get a new, better quality player.

Summary: Great player, good price
Review: This DVD player has been nothing but great; it works wonderfully with both DVDs and CDs. Haven't had a single problem with skipping or freezing -- nothing but smooth sailing with a variety of DVD features.

Instructions are easy to follow, and remote control is lightweight and easy to use. Hookup is very easy, so unplugging it to clean or for my impending move isn't a worry.

Highly recommend this DVD player.

Summary: looks like its not just me...
Review: Well i hooked it all up and it seemed to work somewhat perfectly for the first 6 movies or so...now...it will not play any of my dvd's. they freeze at every chapter, and the only way to resume the movie is to stop and play again. there's no luck in watching a dvd at a certain point, because it does nothing but freeze when i try to skip a chapter...ive tried totally disconnecting it and reconnecting...ive about had it with this thing. it plays CD's fine, but...i wasn't looking for a new CD player...what can i say. you get what you pay for...and thats what i get for being cheap.

Summary: Buy from Sam's Club, works like a charm!!!
Review: What are you all complaining about? My DVD has not got a problem. I did not purchase my DVD from Amazon, but from an electronics shop in Cape town. I think that for the [money] I spent on this DVD, it was a give away. I am more than happy and got more than expected. I would recomend this DVD to any first time buyer. It is a great entry level player.

Summary: This is an average DVD player, don't expect too much.
Review: When I purchased this DVD player, I was looking for a DVD player that was cheap, and could play DVD's or VCD's. Basically, I needed a no frills DVD player for my bedroom and that is exactly what I got. We have a nicer Pioneer DVD player in our living room that is attached to our large television, which is much better than this Daewoo model.

An added unexpected bonus is that my wife uses the Daewoo in our bedroom to play music CD's while she reads.

Otherwise, there are a few things that leave me disappointed about this Daewoo DVD player. I don't think that it handles high speed action very well. It seems to have a little trouble playing the fight scenes in Episode 1, and Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon without pixelizing a little. I forget which movie it was, but one we watched locked the DVD player up completely; we had to stop it and FF through that spot. I think that the remote is also laid out funny. The up/down, left/right buttons are at the very bottom left corner, instead of in the center of the remote, as many DVD remotes are set up. The DVD player is also a little big; it reminds me a little of a 1980's era VCR. Finally, I can't figure out how to turn the on-screen display off by default, even after looking through the users manual.

Each of these complaints about the DVD player and remote gives me a lukewarm feeling about it. Fortunately, all I wanted was a simple DVD player that could do the basic job, so I am satisfied with it.

Summary: Average DVD Player, good starter.
Review: When we first got the player it would skip constantly. It was to the point where we were considering returning it back to Amazon.

A few things to keep in mind:
1. It is very sensitive to scratched DVDs
2. When it heats up it will start skipping the picture and audio
3. It will "freak out" to where you have to completely turn off the power and turn it back on.
4. I also have not found a way to turn off the OSD by default
5. It does play music very well, no problems there.

If I had it to over again, I would have waited a little longer and spent ~$... for an entry level name brand.

We have had the DVD for 3 months now and it has stopped skipping all the time. I'll revise my review in a few months.

I bumped up the starts to 4 because the skipping is nearly nonexistant. The picture and sound quality are excellent. Will probably upgrade in the future but for now it works great.
