Summary: A Good Basic DVD Player
Review: I was able to hook the player up and have it running in less than ten minutes. The quality of the player is worth every penny! I was so happy that it also comes with a remote with options like zoom, angle, super fast FF, superfast RW, slow motion, captions, pitch changer and other handy commands. It plays all the DVDs flawlessly so far. If your looking for a nice simple dvd player for your home this is it! I think I may buy another one.

Summary: Very good entry-level model
Review: The DVG-3000N is an excellent choice for beginers, screen is crystal clear as well as the sound (be it movie, cd or mp3), basic all-around functionality is ok as is the standard remote, the pitch control function allows you to speed up/slow down the perceived audio (I say perceived audio because no change is done to the movie speed) which is funny to play with and useful if you use the player in a PAL environment.
Connectivity is ok but not impressive, as it lacks component video and optical audio jacks, the player DOES have a ZOOM feature (tech data is wrong) and the manual is simple but complete.
Manufactured in China and backed by a well known Korean brand, this player is everything you need if you are more concerned about watching movies than about buying the ultimate techno-hype.

Summary: Great for the price but...
Review: This is a great DVD player for the price. It's even got a classy look to it. I have had problems with it freezing on me during playback and the only solution seems to be to get up and turn the player off and back on. As mentioned in many posts, this units remote control does not include a power on/off button. This is not THAT big a deal except it sure would be handy those times when I have to get up and turn the unit off and on again. I would have preferred a power button over an eject button on the remote since I have to get up anyway to insert or remove a DVD. This is also a region free player which is nice now but I understand that might become a problem in the future as they devise new means of making DVDs' only play on players that are not region free. You can not bypass copy protection with this player as one post I read misleadingly stated. Overall, I give it 3 stars for the price, features, and look.

Summary: Great Deal
Review: I bought this DVD player after carefully reading all the reviews here, and reviewing all the information available elsewhere on the web. The DVG-3000N offers a lot of features for a very small price. It makes a very robust first impression, and does not look cheap, like many of the APEX players. So far, I managed to play the following formats: MP3, CD, VCD 1.1, NTSC DVD region 1, and PAL DVD region 2. The latter was played on a regular NTSC TV. The built-in conversion from PAL to NTSC works well. I can wholehartedly recommend this DVD player, especially to those who own region 2 DVDs.

Summary: This Player does so much right!
Review: Ok, So it's not the worlds greatest DVD player..but it sure is nice to have one that is able to play all my DVDs without any problems due to region codes or the like. I have a buddy who always returns from Asia with a bunch of DVD titles...the problem is that they only seem to play in DVD-ROM players. I put a bunch of them into this player and it played each and every one without a problem!
Here are the drawbacks of the player: Poor display panel(very dim and hard to read), remote lacks a power button, and remote is not very powerful(you have to point it RIGHT at the player to get it to work). Other then that...I'm very happy with it.

One last note...One reviewer mentioned that the picture keep dimming then getting brighter. Perhaps he/she had hooked the player up through a VCR? Unless you disable MacroVision...you cannot hook this up via a VCR connection (This is how they keep you from recording DVD titles onto VHS tapes)

Summary: Buyer BEWARE!!! Do not purchase this ...
Review: I am so glad that I did not purchase this ... They had a special on apartment rentals in Florida--if you sign for a year lease, you get a free DVD player. I'm glad that I didn't choose the rental just for the DVD player. The player stayed in the box for about 6 months. In 2002, I set it up; start purchasing DVDs to build up my library; then tried the player. It plays for about 20 minutes; then the picture freezes. Turning it off, starting over, moving it from one location to another, nothing works; the problem persists. Maybe the next day, it'll work; maybe it won't. Eventually, I'll finish viewing the movie; however, it basically takes 3 - 4 days to accomplish that small task. Why was this DVD player created; it serves NO purpose, whatsoever. Whenever, it freezes, when it finally decides to play, I'll forward it to the chapter that I left off. That's the way you have to view a movie. I would rather go back to VCR days than to purchase this ... Now, I am on my way out to purchase a real DVD player.

Summary: Goes bad no matter what, so just don't buy it
Review: I liked this player quite a bit except for the same flaws that the other reviewers have mentioned (no power button, subtitles always come on, loud motor, etc.), but now i've had it for about 2 years and it's definitely broke. Whenever I turn the power on, the display on my tv screen is all wavy and multicolored ...totally unviewable, and it has problems reading the disc. So, judging by the other reviews, 2 years is a pretty long time for this piece of crap to work, so I consider myself lucky. Don't make the same mistake we made and buy it because it seems to have alot of features for the cheap price. Buyer Beware!!

Summary: Do not buy
Review: Bought this for my mom as a Christmas present and it worked well for about 6 months- then it refused to read either DVDs or CDs. Still does not work and my mom had to buy a new one.

Summary: Unbeatable at the price
Review: This machine has it all - available under $$$ too. Shop around and you'll even find it under $$!

Key points to consider:
Region free with just a few remote keypresses. Can also select a specific region, in case an RCE encoded disk gives you a problem.
Plays NTSC-PAL and PAL-NTSC (PAL widescreen gets a little stretched if viewed on NTSC TV, due to limitations with the ESS chip they use, but this is not a serious problem by any means).
Auto-sensing 100-240V power supply - take it anywhere!
Add to that a digital DTS output (not optical, but hey!) and you have an amazingly high-spec machine for a fraction of the cost of its competition.
