Summary: Anti-educational in the extreme
Review: I am not an anti-TV person. I have no problems letting my toddler watch a few movies a day. [I have found that the Wiggles are the best.] However, I don't want to educate my children to watch the movie instead of reading the book.

This movie adds absolutely nothing to the original books. It is very poorly done, and looks like they just show page after page of the original books.

So why bother with this? It is far better to sit down with your child and read that actual books to them.

Summary: FUN AND EDUCATIONAL
Review: I bought this video for my 2 year old son who loves the cat in the hat. It is a very good video because it really encourages the kids to repeat the words. They are a bit silly but my son loves the cute little rhymes. It makes him laugh. The best part is he is saying his ABC's now. Also, Mr. Brown can moo really is so cute. It has such silly little sounds for everyday things and asks the kids to make the sounds too. My son loves to buzz like the bee. This is a very cute video and my son really enjoys it. He has fun watching it and is learning too.

Summary: Seuss's ABC is my favorite!
Review: I love Dr. Seuss's ABC book! When I was little my parents rented this video. When they had to take it back I wailed and wailed. So my parents got it for me. Ever since that I wanted to get more videos of Seuss's books. Check out more of my reviews of Dr. Seuss stuff.

Summary: great conepts for a begining talker - Toddler LOVES this
Review: I thought she would hate the animation but she LOVES this - she loves the sound of the poems. Some reviewers hated this because they couldn't hear the rythms as well BUT that's the way you're SUPPOSE to read poetry!!!! We rented these from the video store because our almost 2yr old was sick and we nneded to keep her still. She was mesmerized. We had to order this because we've rented this tape non stop for a month!

My 2yr ols also loves seeing the books that she has been looking at for 2 yrs read to her with great voices and music.

This ia a perfect way to introduce your child to the beauty of words.

She now ,thanks to this video ,is recognizing and saying the correct name for letters!!!

The other stories on this are GREAT also!

Summary: teaching made up words?
Review: It just doesn't make sense to me that a video aimed at teaching the alphabet would have made up words through out it. How confusing would it be to learn a new language with a bunch of made up words??? I am glad that I was able to get this at my library rather than pay for it.

Summary: Wonderful Way To Learn ABC's
Review: My daughter loves the book, so I decided to try the video and am very pleased that I did. She always points to the television asking for the "ABC" show. I think what makes this video so enjoyable is its simplicity. The animation is very minimal and the same illustrations from the original book are used in it. I have noticed that many of those who have reviewed Dr. Seuss videos feel that the lack of "cartoon" quality and simple style are detrimental to their children's viewing pleasure. This video is a far cry from a "Blues Clues" or "Elmo's World" but that, I believe, is its main strength. If your children enjoy the book, I believe they will enjoy the video.

Summary: Who says you can't play with words?
Review: My son loved his Dr. Seuss books so much we decided to try a video. We chose this one because he was working on his ABCs at the time. He LOVES it! I see other reviewers haven't cared for the nonsensical ABCs, but our son's highest rave is "silly", and he loves to play with letters and words (think of Raffi's "Apples and Bananas" song). His favorite part is the Mr. Brown segment, which he watches while reading along in his own Mr. Brown book. Yes, it is more of a video of still pictures, but so are many of our older Richard Scarry videos, and he loves those as well - I think of it as strengthening his attention span. I would recommend this video for those children who already love their Dr. Seuss books, and for parents who prefer non-battery operated toys - it is classic, it is simple, and it is effective.

Summary: A big disappointment
Review: My son who is 3 years old loves this DVD. He repeats (and learns) his alphabet along with it. The 2 extra stories are a plus, but his favorite part is the ABC part. I recommend it for anyone with a young child who needs to learn in a fun way.
