Summary: First step in an interesting American story
Review: I saw this movie years ago with my grandmother, and I hadn't seen it in years. Naturally, I wanted to see it again. It begins as the story of a close-knit family growing up. It follows them right into WWII into their untimely demise. A true tear-jerker...and a classic that ranks up there with "It's a Wonderful Life."

Summary: I WORK WITH THE GUY WHO PLAYED LITTLE JOE.
Review: I THINK THIS MOVIE IS A CLASSIC, THAT I WILL NEVER FORGET I SAW. IT WAS FUNNY AND THEN IT WAS SAD BEFORE YOU KNEW WHAT HAPPENED. I WORK WITH THE MAN WHO PLAYED LITTLE JOE, AND THAT'S HOW I FOUND OUT ABOUT THIS MOVIE. I HAVE BEEN VERY LUCKY TO WORK WITH HIM BECAUSE HE HAS SO MUCH TO OFFER PEOPLE.

Summary: The best in my lifetime.
Review: I was 11 years old when I saw this in a movie theater. I was so affected by these movie I vowed that I would go in the Navy as soon as they would have me. When I was 16, the Korean war broke out, and when I turned 17 that fall, I did join the Navy. It was the best thing I ever did to prepare me for the future, and I still thank the Sullivan family for setting a fine example to a youngster.

Summary: A movie to reflect my true life experience
Review: I watched this movie when I was 21 years old while fighting in the war in Indonesia in 1946. A very moving experience, as a young man myself who was away from home ; fighting for my country. I had watched the film 3 times and cried 2 of the times. My friends in my tank bergade called me "Foppe".

Summary: Always a classic, never too late to see.
Review: In 1955 my mother made me sit and watch this movie at the ripe young age of 10. I will never forget the emotions that overcame me even at this youg age. For years I had looked, and looked for this movie, and alas a few years back it appeared on late nite tv. I watched, I recalled, and I cried my eyes out. Mind you I am a seasoned Viet Nam veteran...and this movie is so realistic as to what life was and should be, that it will affect anyone who views it in a favorable light. I now insist that my two adult children view this movie, and will purchase it for each of them as a reminder as to family values, and the sacrifice that past American's have made for our freedoms. This is a film that should be viewed by every American. This is a film which should be included as required viewing for any immigrant entering and enjoying the freedoms of the USA. This film is reality, family values, loyalty, tradition, and patriosim all intertwined into a classic movie which has and will endure over the years.

Summary: Excellent movie for the entire family to watch.
Review: In today's kind of world where family values have become almost extinct. This movie brings real true meaning to what a "true loving family" should be. When trials and hard times came their way, they always had support for one another. Even going to war, the five boys were inseparable.Their Love, Respect, and Committment for one another is simply astonishing and unbelievable. I couldn't believe that this was actually a true story, and not a hollywood drama. Maybe that is why it has touched so many. Because it is a story of real people who encountered real hardship during WWII. This is a "classic" to add to my collection of great movies.

Summary: Will live in my heart and memory forever
Review: My mother brought me to see this movie at the Crest movie theatre in Highbridge. It was soon after the Sullivan brothers had so heroically died for their beloved country. There were many other mothers or fathers who wanted their children to learn about why we were at war at that time, and to have respect for the Sullivans and all the other men and women in their service of their country during World War II.

I was only five years of age at that time, but I remember everything about the movie. Ofcourse, I saw it in the movies a couple of more times within the next few years as well as staying up until the wee small hours of the morning to see it on the late show. Each and every time, the movie evoked the same reaction from me, tears and trembling.

I felt as though every member of the Sullivan family was a friend of mine. Perhaps I may sound old fashioned or outdated, but I appreciated The Fighting Sullivans more than I could any of the films of the present day. This film was realistic, it dealt with the thin line which separates life from death. The present day films focus, for the most part on fantasy, violence, and sex, which have many negative effects on the people who so choose to take them seriously. Whereas, The Fighting Sullivans encompased strong family values, the family was not perfect, but with their strong love and respect for each other, they were able to overcome any challenges which life might have brought them. Good family values is the basis of life.

Oh, yes, this is one of the greatest tragedies of all times, but this film has had positive effects on me as well as many others. It has served as an inspiration and an appreciation of our great American heritage, thanks to some of the many brave servicemen such as the Sullivans who helped uphold the principles of democracy for us.

My ambition is to purchase this film and watch it periodically, and share it with any family member(s) of friends who would care to watch it with me.

Summary: Fighting Sullivans
Review: One of the all-time great movies to come out of Hollywood. Superb family entertainment for all ages. Only one item defies analysis. With attention to detail about the Sullivan history, why would Hollywood producers opt to change the ending? Four of the five brothers did die in the explosions that wracked the Juneau. However, sharks killed a wounded George Sullivan shortly after he abandoned ship. Although the Hollywood ending to the story is more heart rending, it sheds doubt on the historical accuracy of the movie. Nonetheless, the cast did the Sullivan brothers and their surviving family members proud. The Fighting Sullivans earns its place as a classic and enduring masterpiece.
