Summary: Great movie !! Pity about the quality of the DVD
Review: All in the subject. One of the worse DVD coding i have ever seen. A real pity, because this movie is excellent.

Summary: "Not in my house."
Review: Let the knock off remarks about Indiana Jones begin. Actually, despite obvious Indiana Jones comparisons in term of story, weapons, the way the heroes are dressed etc, it is a good movie on it's own. It's no Indiana Jones. Nevertheless, it can be viewed as a good movie in itself.

Director David Chung, known more for his cinematograph in the movie Once Upon a Time in China puts together a very nice story. The story and plot of the movie is very well done in my opinion. However, the characters in the movie are not developed as well as they should be (something Spielberg is very successful at creating in the Indiana Jones movies).

Michelle Yeoh of course is the main character. She is sent in to save the city from being invaded by Japan (very similar story to Temple of Doom actually). She seeked and destroyed every villain, kicking butt left and right.

Unfortunately, Michelle Yeoh's costar Richard Ng (Mr. Vampire III, Once Upon a Time in China and America) isn't as good as you would like. Sure he has a few nice moves here or there, however, Michelle Yeoh always has to come to his rescue.

I really, really liked the "shot out of a cannon" effect the punches and kicks had. That was my favorite action scenes in the movie. Those and her rope and whip fighting scenes, which were also done very nice. The choreography was very well done also.

The movie was very fun, and entertaining. I would never seriously put it in a class w/Indiana Jones (one of the top 3-5 trilogies of all time), though it has that feel to it. However, like Indiana Jones it has a nice backdrop, nice story line, and a few comical lines splashed here and there. Rent before buying, as this may be a movie you watch only once.

Summary: For action fans only
Review: Magnificent Warriors is a very uneven film, mixing a convoluted story and hit-or-mostly-miss comedy with spectacular action sequences. Thankfully there is so much action in the movie it easily outweighs the weaknesses in other areas. It was the follow up to Michelle Yeoh's ROYAL WARRIORS (a superior movie), and showcases her athletic skills and grace to an even higher extent. The fight choreography is simply some of the best that ever came out of Hong Kong - fast, intricate and brutally real. The life of a stuntman in 1980's Hong Kong was a very painful one, and the legions of stuntmen that worked on MAGNIFICENT WARRIORS must have received countless injuries to make the stunts and fights so visceral. Their sacrifice means that the viewer is treated to action that is heart-stopping in its terrible beauty.

You have to be prepared for an incredibly cheesy script and acting, but if you go in for the action then MAGNIFICENT WARRIORS will not disappoint!

Summary: Fun Film with Great Action Scenes
Review: Michele Yeoh stars as a confident, self-reliant bush pilot who is cashing in on the resistence to the Japanese invaders in 1930s China. The plot really gets going when she is recruited to assist a spy deep within Japanese held land and ends up becoming embroiled in the resistance efforts whole-hog.

The film features excellent cinematography, fine performances by all actors, and well-choreographed martial arts sequences. There were some silly sound effects related to those fight scenes, but that's to be expected in an older film like this one.

The only dissapointment I felt was that I would have liked to see some of the plot and characterzation touches. (For example, was the drifter related to our heroine or not?)

All in all, though, this is a very enjoyable flick which I highly recommend.)

Review: Michelle Yeoh stars in this 1980s-style Hong Kong action flick. If you are looking for a great story, I would just rent it if I were you. But, if you like great kick-ass action and lots of stunts, I would recommend buying this movie. Trust me, I bought it myself. I thought I would be disappointed, but fortunately it wasn't bad at all. "Magnificent Warriors" includes great choreographed action, awesome stunts, and most importantly, Michelle Yeoh...man, she can whoop some ass. This movie, as well as "Yes, Madam" is what started the great Hong Kong female-fatale era.

To keep this review short, if you like to watch 1980s Hong Kong movies with well-choreographed fighting design, get this movie right away. Warning: if you're looking for a Michelle Yeoh action movie with great story, ignore it, and get "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon" instead

Summary: Michelle Yeoh as Indiana Jones
Review: Not great but not bad. A lot of very solid fights although the final showdown is a little anti-climatic due to more guns than kicks and punches being used. Michelle Y. plays a mercenary/bush pilot/patriot/Idiana Jones clone complete with leather jacket and bull whip helping fight off the encroacing Japanese Army in Western China during WWII. Nice number of fight scenes, just about all of which were well done. The plot and characters are paper thin but it's a martial arts film so who cares? Your paying money to see Michelle and Co. beat up the bad guys and this film delivers.

Summary: A MAGNIFICENT FILM!!!
Review: One of Michelle Yeoh's early efforts finds her as a bush pilot flying a bi-plane in 1930's China, running guns to the villages opposing Japanese occupation. Yeoh's character is brave and resourceful... and can she ever kick butt!Very well directed, with awesome martial arts fights, but also with a great plot and great characters. GET THIS MOVIE!!!

Summary: Not Michelle's best, but this was fun!
Review: This film turned out to be a surprise for me...I was expecting much less especially with the Indiana Jane look on the dvd cover, but this film delivers...Michelle is a Indiana Jane type character, who teams up with a spy in the middle of WWII, who helps protect a Chinese emperor-like individual against the Japanese...the fighting scenes are what surprised me because I thought it would be more gunplay than anything else...there are a good amount of fight scenes, some of which are pretty brutal and reminincent of royal warriors although not as great...Dont get me wrong tho, some of the scenes will make you cringe and think OUCH!...I'll admit that the last battle scene WAS more gunplay than fighting, but it doesnt take anything away from the film...check Magnificent Warriors out tho, its fun to watch plus there are many humorous scenes...check out michelle's other great stuff too like Yes Madam, Royal Warriors, Wing Chun, CTHD, and Tai Chi Master...hope this was a little helpful...later
