Summary: this movie shows the harsh truth behind war
Review: when seeing this movie for the first time it amazed me the second and third it destroyed me. this is one of the most remarkable movies put to film. francis ford is one of the most ingenous film directors of all time. when producing the movie he felt that it would be the first movie to win the noble peace prize. i fill that would understat the movie it is a monolithic movie acomplishment like no other. it is a must for any film student. and even more of a must for an every day film lover. widescreen shows how this true art should be seen. this to me is the most inspirational noncomprmising picture ever highly recommended by an avid movie goer.

Summary: COPPOLA`S GEM STILL SHINES BRIGHTLY!!
Review: I saw this movie back in 1979 at the great Northpark 1&2 theater in Dallas(one of the best movie theaters ever!).The film`s combination of vivid sound, brilliant editing, taut storytelling, and unforgetable performances made for one of the greatest experiences i`ve ever had at the movies.Brando`s Kurtz is dark, murky, and ultimately shattering.I read that during the filming of this movie,Martin Sheen had a heart attack. His intense, obsessive oddysey to find Kurtz is in my opinion one of the great narratives in modern screen history.BUY THIS CINEMATIC TREASURE NOW!!!

Summary: War is madness-Cause and Effect
Review: The ultimate in war is hell and madness movies as martin sheen goes up-river into the "heart of darkness" Based on Joeseph Conrad's novel, but set in Vietnam instead of darkest africa, this is sublime cinema with the feel of a bad drug trip as helicopters, tigers and psychologically unstable characters fleet in and out the film to a soundtrack of The Doors and Ride of the Valkeries. Unmissable, unbelievable, unforgetable.

Summary: A depiction of Vietnam adapted from "Heart of Darkness"
Review: This movie is my all-time favorite. It's got Harrison Ford in the beginning of his carreer, an incredible cameo appearance by Dennis Hopper, amazing cinematography. My only problem with this movie these days is that the ending has changed. The original ending has Captain Willard call in the air strike and you see the village being bombed and destroyed while the credits are rolling. However, the version that is can be bought and is shown on cable TV ends with a fade to black and no destruction of the village. This totally changes the entire ending of the film. Not cool. Also, why is one of the greatest films of all time not available on DVD? Overall, you must see this film!!

Summary: Excelent Writing, Cinematography, and Execution
Review: I believe that this is this epitome of the film experience. The choreography, story adaption, acting is very strong. It also incites critical analysis not only of the horrors of war but the immeasurable depths of the human consciousness, as Joseph Conrad depicts in Heart of Darkness. In one word---Stunning.

Summary: A absolute must see for everybody!!
Review: Apocalypse Now is one of those movies that only gets better every time you watch it. It is a very thought provoking movie. I think that the movie can be better appreciated and understood when one reads Conrad's Heart of Darkness. Along with the great plot this movie has some of the best filming I have ever seen. As a side note, this movie also has the largest ever pyrotechnics (scene with Kilgore)

Summary: A superb metaphor for the insanity of war
Review: I never grow tired of watching this film.Martin Sheen's performance was brilliant as you first see him determined to complete his mission, as a good soldier would, and then slowly he comes to realize that he's been sent not to "terminate with extreme predjudice" but to murder an effective soldier who has become a political liability. I think this film truly reflects what all the anti-war protests were about."...the horror of it all,the horror of it all."
