Review: This movie, about the crew of a German submarine during World War II, is likely the best submarine war film ever made. Simply, this film will astound and terrify the viewer. It is simply amazing that people actually managed to survive a tour aboard a submarine. Not surprisingly, 75% of German submariners who went out never came back. This film shows all of the terror and anguish in excruciating detail. The only drawback of this version is the lack of supplementary material contained on the disc. Specifically, there is only the onligatory commentary track as well as a short 5 minute documentary. Regardless, the film is highly recommended and you will not be disappointed.
