Summary: The Beatles at their best
Review: This film shows the Beatles as they were when they were young and fresh and charming and before they had started to take themselves seriously. The story of a trip to London to record a TV show gives ample opportunity for the larking about they did so well,as they sing and play and joke their way through the film in their inimitable way. There is a wonderful perfomance from Wilfred Brambel as Paul's malicious old Irish grandfather, doing his best to stir up trouble throughout the film, and fine performances too from Norman Rossington as their long-suffering manager, John Junkin as his bemused assistant, and Victor Spinetti as the show's harassed producer. The highlight of the film comes with a mad chase scene as the Beatles are pursued through the streets by a horde of policemen. And then there's the bit where Wilfrid Bramble comes up through the floor in the middle of the show, oh it's great. Sad to remember how they changed when they turned into hippies and started taking drugs and spouting drivel. Particularly strange to look at that sweet fresh-faced boy Paul, and think of what a pompous pretentious prat he is these days. Never mind. Forget what jackasses they became later, just enjoy this wonderful film.

Summary: Y O Y
Review: Why oh why couldn't McCartney and Starkey do a voice over for this one? Very sad if the boy with the tyre could turn up for a remaniss but not the Fab Two themselves. I have been very suprised at not only this version bus also the re released theatrical version in terms of sound quality. i would have thought the music at least could have been brought up to the cd standard. the film to me - in the cinema - didn't kick of until the gorgoues 'and i love her' sequence. still this is the fab four and we get so hungry for them we'll take what we can get! yeah, yeah, yeah.

Summary: this movie is a masterpiece
Review: It doesn't matter if you like or dislike the Beatles, 'A Hard Days Night" is still as popular today as it was in 1964. The film itself is used as a model in colleges and universities as a teaching tool and the music continues to excite me each time I hear the soundtrack. This is a tounge-in-cheek commedy/drama of a band on the run from its' fans and I highly recommend it to all age groups.

Review: I have only one question to ask the "Pop Fan from the U.S. of A beeyatch!" who left the review titled "not for pop fans" on August 5, 2002: WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT?

Summary: The Beatles' first film
Review: A Hard Day's Night (1964.) The first Beatles movie.

INTRODUCTION:
Following their early 1964 trip to America, the Beatles had really made a name for themselves. For their next project, rather than just releasing another studio album, they decided to do a film. How does the band's first major film, A Hard Day's Night, measure up? Read on for my review.

BASIC PLOT:
Essentially, this film shows the band's views on how they felt about becoming legends overnight. Through the course of the movie, the band is forced to run from screaming fans, perform gigs, and basically keep each other out of trouble.

FILM OPINIONS:
This film is an instant classic - no questions asked. Although the storyline of this film is questionable, it's still a very enjoyable film to watch. The band had a contract to make three films, and this movie was the first of them. An interesting note about this film - George Harrison's future wife Patty Boyd has a small appearance, and even future pop star Phil Collins makes a cameo as a screaming fan!

DVD:
The DVD is great because it has a ton of interviews with cast and crew, but it's not great in the aspect of the audio. As another reviewer stated, the audio could have been WAY better. It's not a huge problem, but it's just enough of a problem to be annoying. I hate to say it, but I think the old VHS version had better audio than this DVD! Oh, well.

OVERALL:
Overall, this was a very good first film for the Beatles. It's not necessarily their finest hour on the silver screen, but it's still a good film overall (although I remain confident that the band was best at recording music, not starring in movies.) If you like the band's early stuff, check this movie out - I doubt you'll be disappointed.

Summary: These guys wore suits
Review: The world was so stuffy back in 1964, plans for the movie included 30 matching suits for each of the Beatles: a total of 120 suits for the tailors to keep cleaned and pressed. A scene in "A Hard Day's Night" in which a man in his underwear is hiding in the closet because Paul's grandfather borrowed his suit to go to an invitation-only private club casino helps capture the clothes consciousness that sets the fashion world spinning to an invisible beat which finds its back beat at the point where John Lennon can't help ceremoniously clipping a tailor's measuring tape with a sissors, quipping, "I now declare this bridge open," in a rush of backstage activities that was scripted to match the hectic rush of entertainment mentalities in real life. What it all comes down to is reflected upon best by George Martin, who said that when he told them, "We need some more songs for the movie," the Beatles started writing songs that were greater than anyone had a right to expect. For people who lived in the 1960s, this movie was like the invention of the human in a pop society that had been too far out to reach the big screen before, but which could dominate the minds of those who were in the right place to catch the fun it generated. Watching the extras on the DVD ought to make you end up liking all the people who like this movie, which exudes that fondness in all directions.

Summary: Beatles Fun!!
Review: Lots of shaky close ups, sreaming girls and mayhem!!Made on a small budget that really shows, it is full of a lot of unscrpited antics and a pretty feeble plot thats barely there.
But the music!! Besides the poor photography, this is still
a fantastic view of the Fab four when they first began just being themselves. Full of fun and great comical sight gags (Go Ringo!!)
Probably not worth the money and listening to the people involved in the film recalling their memories of fourty years ago can get a bit boring unless you are a true beatles nut.
But after all this there is still captured a sense of absolute hysteria that was born then and it grabs you!!

Summary: Try to Focus, People!
Review: As important as it is to rebut the spiceworld comment, it's more important to realize that it was probably a joke. A Hard Day's Night contains actual, funny jokes. And great music. It's a great film.

Summary: Classic Beatles
Review: First off, whoever wrote that this film ripped off the Spice Girls is obviously not paying attention to the fact that "A Hard Day's Night" came out in 1964 and "Spice World" came out about thirty years later, so I believe that means the Spice Girls ripped off the Beatles, not vice versa. Anyway, this film is a great piece, and though not a very good representation of the Beatles, it features their classic songs, some humor, and you gotta love that classic black and white. There are some dull moments, but for anyone interested in this time period it's a must-see.
