Summary: Anerexic White Chick Lawyer
Review: The title describes the entire premise of this show but I will explain further. She is a saucy, skinny, white girl, who just graduated from college and is in a law firm were it seems that people don't actually work because of this horrible premise the shows creators had to fill in the blanks with sexual references and all out idiotic jokes (look at the dancing baby). This show sucked and that is why it is off the air.

Summary: Ally Mc Beal Seasons 1-5
Review: Ally mc Beal lasted a good 6 seasons. I was able to purchase region 2 seasons 3 & 4 but is soooooooo looking forward for the release of the other seasons I've missed. Especially the last season with Jon Bon Jovi in it. Ally Mc Beal is a story of a whacky single woman's everyday dealings who sort of resembles most of the single women's lives. We can relate to it and make our lives seem fun and light despite what hardships we go through. Please FOX, it's in high demand in the U.S. Why do you tease us so?

Summary: GET THE FULL SERIES!
Review: I know someone else has already mentioned this but I just have to bring this to your attention. On Amazon.co.uk you can get the ENTIRE SERIES!! Thus far they have been releasing it in 2 separate box sets per season and have in fact released the entire series this way as of 2 years ago... but the good news... They have just started re-releaseng full seasons, the complete seasons 1 - 3 (just one boxset per season) will be released on February 21st 2005, and seasons 4 & 5 will be released on May 9th 2005, at extremely affordable prices, only GBP 14.99 each, which is about USD 27.00!!
Usually in the UK everything is so much more expensive but this is a great deal, especially considering the show in question!!
Strange how it's hard for you guys to find multi region DVD players, over here in Cyprus everyone has a multi region (we are actually REGION 2 though as we fall under Europe). So go get yourself a Region 2 or multi region DVD player and enjoy Ally McBeal in all its glory =)

Hope this helps!

Summary: Don't settle for this meager DVD!!!!
Review: The only thing wrong with this DVD is that there's so few episodes. After reading Darryl Williamson's review, I found a website (World Gift Center, www.world-import.com)selling code-free DVD players for very reasonable prices with built in converters. ($79.99 before tax/shipping) Amazon.com only has them thru the marketplace. Then you can head over to amazon.co.uk and buy the actual full season sets of Ally McBeal or any other show they have that you can't get in the U.S. You'll have to pay shipping of course, but if you really want more you can have it. Thanks for the idea Darryl!

Summary: FULL SEASONS PLEASE!
Review: I live in Japan, where we can RENT every episode of alley mcbeal from the pilot to the series finale-- in English with subtitles, or dubbed over into japanese at almost any rental store.

This teaser set of Ally is a joke. C'mon Fox-- just release the darn things for the US market.

Ally was a great show, and even the weakest season...the dreaded five has some redeeming qualities when watched for the second time.

My wife is Japanese, but speaks english well. To help her practice listening to more natural-- and playful english we started watching ally. It was good practice for her, and a nice break for me-- I dont really like most Japanese TV that much. It soon became a treat to head to the video store for the next video...

I liked the show when it was on TV... but came to appreciate it even more when I could watch the episodes without a week or more in between. Subtle running gags-- like the buzzing bee music that they played with ling buzzing around the office--- became more apparent.

Looking back... I think season 4 was the best-- and Robert Downey Jr.'s "issues" are one problem that hurt season five... I think they had planned on him being a fixture... and then couldnt go that way.

Season Five-- ok the worst-- but in some ways... i feel it was almost a victim of Sept. 11th... The mood of the nation was altered pretty quickly... and for a long time a lot of the zany, quirky, humor that made ally great just wasnt what people wanted. I dont think the writers knew how to handle it... and when things went wrong they panicked...

Downey Jr.'s character was gone... Jackson Dooper... and Mark apparently fell off the planet without explanation... Ling too... she became a judge... then what?

now that Ive watched it again.. its almost like there is a season 5A and a season 5B... 5a is the new characters like jenny, glen, coretta etc... and 5b is the kid and bon jovi..

Its like the writers couldnt decide what to do... They keep teasing at something... finally let it happen... and then the next week... everything was over and they were going another way. Glen and Alley... the law firm losing money.... Alley and Bon Jovi... The kid... (who was around, but not really for awhile)...

But even with all of these problems... even this 5th season was fun to watch. I really enjoyed Cage's speech about the firefighters... And in some ways, it really did seem that Alley had grown up... My wife and I were almost sad when we watched the final episode because it all seemed so rushed (the outcome of a sudden cancellation, not a planned series finale)... and the fact that we could never visit that world for NEW stories...

So as a surprise, I wanted to buy my wife these DVDs for X-mas. ANd this tiny set was such a disappointment. I guess I will have to buy a japanese dvd player...

I think Fox has treated this show pretty poorly considering how popular it was. Its webpage is still fairly pathetic. And if they are concerned about how poorly it did in its final season... that was their fault, not ours.... we loved the show, and deserve the chance to watch it again and again-- just like other people already do... all over the world!

Thanks...

Summary: Already have this one.
Review: hi, i didn't even fool with the piddling boxed set that is offered here in the u.s. -- i live in California, anyhow last December i gave myself an excellent Christmas present: ordered myself a multi-region DVD player (found a source on the internet)and ordered the first season through fourth season from amazon.uk(i didn't much care for the fifth season, so didn't buy), it was well worth it, so for anyone who wants the seasons, it is definitely worth the purchase of a multi-region DVD player in order to enjoy...

Review: Hi to whomever it was that suggested buying Ally Mcbeal from the uk website. I was wondering, how do I get it sent over here?? They won't allow the shipment because my residence is located in the states. Got any advice?
