Summary: Big TV for a small price
Review: I just bought this set for my bedroom. For [$$$] it's great. The color is great, and the sound is too. And with 2 sets of a/v outlets, it was easy to set-up my dvd, and vhs.

Summary: A warning to all potential buyers
Review: I ordered this TV this weekend, and I picked it up this afternoon. As soon as I opened the box, I packed it up so I could return it and get my money back. I did this because I saw right away that [online store] had lied to me. THIS IS NOT A STEREO TV, IT HAS MONO SOUND!
I didn't try it out and I have no idea how well it works, so please don't let this reveiew discourage you from buying this product if you're looking for a cheap TV. It's just that I was looking for a cheap TV with STEREO sound.

Summary: A nice television for the money
Review: I recently bought this television because it was on sale for ... If you can find this tv [on sale] buy it but don't waste your money if it is regular price. It is a very good tv but the color is not the best (and you would think because it's a flat screen it would be better). The sound is very loud at 2 or 3 is all we have put it on so far but there is no control over the bass or other speaker output. Also the sound doesn't seem like it has surround sound like most tvs today have. Like I said it is great for a childrens or extra television but if you are looking for a family tv with surround sound, you might want to spend a few extra dollars. Also it has 4 outlets which make it very easy to connect a dvd and/or vcr up to, thats nice!

Summary: great picture, defective sound
Review: I thought this was the greteast tv until the speakers started to distort only after 2 weeks of use. I did have this TV at loud volumes either, only number 4 on average. I have it hooked through my stereo now, with the tv sound off so it sounds great now. Just be weary of the poor speakers.

Summary: Great picture/sound-flimsy case
Review: I was well pleased when I first bought this TV a couple days ago from Circuit City. It provides a great picture and mono sound (it provides two speakers on the side of the TV so it sounds stereo). I like the close captioning options on this unit, also.

However, I found out quickly that it won't sustain much weight because of the plastic case the tube is in. When I put a light bookshelf sized speaker (10 pounds) on top of the TV, the top 1/3 of the screen turned purple. I thought it was the magnet in the speaker and that it would adjust to the new atmosphere after an hour (that's what the Apex manual said). However, after an hour the purple area remained-when I removed the speaker the purple area disappeared. When I press on the area the purple comes back. Conclusion-it's a weight problem-don't plan on placing your DVD player or VCR on top of the TV!

This is a good TV but not durable. Place it up high where nothing can be placed on top of it.

Summary: cream of the crop
Review: i was worried by some of the reviews,,,,ignore them, i took a chance and this tv has everything my panasonic had on it for 1/3 the cost and is a better tv, the sound is great, the three picture modes superb. i agree with reviewer who said buy it quickly before apex figures out what is worth, disregard any negative reviews this tv is the best.

Summary: More than you should expect for the price.
Review: I've read some criticisms here that mention a flimsy case or less than spectacular sound and I must agree that were this set to be compared with a high end Sony or even a similar Toshiba model, it would get mauled. However....for this incredible price, you do get a set that produces a crystal clear picture, offers adequate sound, features dual external inputs for your VCR, DVD, videocamera, etc., has very good on-screen menus and a most logical remote control. This is my 2nd Apex, and on the first one (bought 6 months ago) I've had no problems whatsoever. The truth is that once the Japanese ruled the electronics world, that is, until the Koreans came along and recreated the economic conditions that were found in Japan when their electronics industry was born. The Koreans now have lost a bit of their edge, as wages and benefits have risen there in that consumer-oriented economy. Now China is the newest bastion of this old economic model, and it would seem conditions are likely to improve there much more slowly than in Japan and Korea. If you don't care to delve too deeply into why their products are so much less expensive, you're likely to be buying lots more products in the coming decades that carry a "Made in China" stamp on them. (Chinese auto exports will hit the U.S. in 2005!) On the other hand, if you're a social activist, you might want to take a pass.

Summary: Solid quality, unbelievable value
Review: Man, the folks at Apex sure turn out some very solid products at incredible prices. (I just hope they aren't using child or prison labor! :-> ) The AT2002 is a basic TV set that's being discontinued but still represents a great value, because you get a high-quality picture tube, lots of features, and good viewing angles. Nobody will take this for a plasma TV that's for sure, so those who don't really own a unit should stop trashing this Ameican brand.
