Summary: i-POD's Dirty Little Secret
Review: Yes it's a cool product. But it's essentailly disposable technology starting at $300 a pop. The battery is NOT replacable, it's internal and will cost you price of a new one to "repair" it. They are involved in at least 5 class action lawsuits regarding this issue. Also they advertise the battery runs for 8hrs.....that's if you just turn it on and let it run..not pressing any buttons or using the backlight etc. We've used ours with what I consider normal use and found it only last about 3.5 hrs

Flashy product with poor design flaws.

Review: My wife loves her new IPOD 15GIG. It's all they promised and more fun than she expected. She became proficient with it in about 3 hours. To make it work at it's best, I installed a $35 Belkin high speed 2.2 USB card with 4 ports in my Dell 8200 running XP, and dounloaded the accompanying drivers. In retrospect, I might have purchased a more expensive card which has both USB 2.2 and Firewire(also recommended). If I had, the (optional) dock would recharge the IPOD at the same time it downloaded music. As it is, she can charge it anytime, anywhere with the accompanying charger. Downside? comparatively little serious classical music on the web. Still, she's happy.

Summary: Amazing product....but the battery needs to fixed
Review: The first ipod I bought was a 2nd generation 20gb ipod when it was first released. I loved everything about it from its intuitive interface to its huge storage capacity. However, after about a year of owning it, I began to see that the battery wouldn't chanrge as long as it used to. This began to become worse as time went on, and the battery life of my ipod was easily cut in half. I contacted Apple to see if there was anything that they could do, but my warranty was up, and they said the only thing I could do was buy a replacement battery. Well, I waited until the 3rd generation ipod came out and decided to buy that instead (because a replacement battery costs upwards of $100). Again I bought the 20gb version, mostly because of the additional accesories that, it bought alone with a 10gb ipod, just about equaled the price of the 20gb ipod. Apple seemed to outdo themselves again with their updated button arrangment, and only one moving button on it (the hold switch). I have loved this just as much as my last, but history seemed to repeat itself. The battery has yet again seemed to hold less of a charge as time goes on. I have no regrets buying either ipod nor do I have anything negative to say about Apple. I simply want to forwarn you that you shouldn't be surprised if your battery doesn't retain as much charge as time goes on. If the store you buy it at offers an extended warranty, I think that that would be a great solution. Hopefully Apple will be able to fix this problem, as many other hard-drive mp3 players have batteries that hold a longer charge and don't have this problem. I still think that the ipod is the best mp3 player on the market. If you buy one you'll understand.

Summary: A Must-Have for Any Music Lover
Review: The apple iPods have truely changed the future of MP3 players for years to come. The design makes it so compact, small and durable that it can survive the extremes you will put it through. And the 15-GB iPod is the perfect size. People have been getting 40-GBs thinking it's the best, but even their computer doesn't have a 40-GB memory. It is amazing how Apple designed such a small device to hold so much. It can also be used for transferring gigabytes of information between computers. The special features and games give me a reason to carry around my iPod every day. Even if you don't think you have 15-GBs of songs on your computer, you will never have to deleate a song again to put new files on. It is so easy to put tunes on the iPod, and the iTunes program is great to organize the songs and send them. A song can be put on the iPod in 2 seconds. Lately, iPods have been having battery trouble and people's batterys have died after months of use- but this new model improves on that.
For audio pleasure for years to come, buy the iPod. Your money will be well spent.

Summary: Excellent Little Electronic Artifact
Review: As the title of this post attests, I'm truly marvelled at this product. Apple is and is going to beat all the competitors in the MP3 player arena. WOW, this product is sleek from the moment you see the box. And once you open the box and see how much care Apple takes care of presentation, you'll realize that you made a good investment. The player is SO much compact and lighter than I expected. I used to own a Creative Nomad Zen (20 Gb) and sold it because it was rather bulky and the controls were really clumsy. in contrast, the iPod is very intuitive and yet powerful. The design is outstanding, and the features is more than worth the money. The sound is superb, and the EQ is very decent just as the included headphones are.
If you look at the Price-Value relationship, iPod offers the most "bang for the buck," if you pardon the cliche. With organizer, clock, calendar, games and 15Gb of soage this unit is by FAR the best value. You won't regret it for one second! It will make a believer out of the most skeptical person. If you have the money...do not hesitate and get this unit.

Summary: Great product
Review: I never thought that I'd like having an iPod. Turns out I love having it. It is elegant, and easy-to-use.

The iPod has changed the way we view digital music.

The best new feature is the on-the-go playlist, combined with the Dock it's a great machine.

a must have!

Summary: no complaints!!
Review: I received the 10gb for xmas and after apple announced in Jan. the new 15gb for the same price, I exchanged and got the bigger model. I was VERY happy with the 10 but when I can get 50% more for the same price, why not! It works flawlessly with my G4 ibook and itunes! I love the EXO iskin arctic case and am waiting for the sony EX71 earphones. This just rocks!! I had absolutely no problems loading or using the pod. I was a little stressed about the brightness of the screen until I realized I could adjust the contrast to my liking. I use it at the gym to make the time go faster and use it at home to help relax. I was not a big music geek, but quickly turning into one. I LOVE IT!!

Summary: If you can afford it, buy it. I can't live without mine!
Review: It is the coolest player for anyone that loves music. It goes from my pocket to my car in no time, bearly breaking a note. I bring it everywhere now, since I have been spoiled by having all of my music at my fingertips. I do agree with some points that other reviewers have made- it DOES scratch if you breathe on it. I bought a case before I even took the ipod out of the plastic wrap and I still got scratches on it. Also, it would be pretty cool if it had a removable battery- but then it may take away from the svelte design. i just bought the belkin battery pack because i am going to be on a 15 hour flight! I'll tell you all how that goes. The only other thing that is kinda lame is the ipod mini. Don't spend the money for almost 1/4 of the space of the regular ipod. if you want a funky color, buy a skin...

Summary: Not perfect, but still great
Review: I got this as a present, and I must say, it is a masterpiece of techological engineering. It's not perfect, and it has some major drawbacks, but it's all-in-all a super piece of technology.

PROS:
•A LOT of storage space
•Organizer feature & synching
•Address book
•Intuitive scroll wheel design
•Intuitive headphone jack design
•Note capacity (i have over 400 files, though they had to be segmented, a lot of song lyrics and a ton of other stuff)
•Unrivaled portablity-- it's like a deck of cards that can play every CD i've ever listened to
•Durable (i have dropped it several times, once on the floor of a bus, once on a tiled floor, and once on hardwood.. to no detriment, thankfully)
•So many add-ons... FM transmitter, voice recorder, battery pack, media card reader... innumerable types of cases
•Great backlight feature which doesn't SEEM to use up much power
•Ergonomic, for the most part (it would be nice to have a remote though)
•Headphones have superb sound quality

•charging seems to work fairly well
•Firewire support is *excellent* and super-fast

CONS:
•Case gets scratched easily (not really important)
•The games are terrible (also not important)
•A full hard drive detracts from efficiency of the device, so 3700 songs is an outright lie-- my hard drive's nearly full at 2050 songs... because it's really not good to fill your hard drive to 100%)
•Doesn't come with a dock
•Battery is poor, and costs $99 to replace ($49 if you want to install it yourself-- inevitably damages part of the iPod in prying open the case and risks zapping the entire thing...)
•Occasionally freezes and requires a reset (minor annoyance)
•Text support is incredibly lacking in functionality and compatibility
•Can't figure out how to get address book to display more than just the address and name (i.e. additional information you enter)

ADVICE:
•Don't use this as a home media device as I did. It resulted in the battery power being miserably shortened. If you DO, then get a Belkin battery pack to use replacableAA batteries in ($59 MSRP, $30 street).
•Get a decent case for it if you plan to carry it around a lot...
•Don't take it outside in subzero temperatures unless you have it in a well-insulated case or pocket, or unless you want a $300 paperweight... (I narrowly avoided disaster with this)

Summary: Looks great but beware...
Review: It is definitely the coolest looking mp3 player on the market, and that is why I almost bought one. However, after trying some of my friends' ipods I realized there was really no reason to get one. The scrolling wheel is fun but difficult to use when you need to select an item. I always went past or stopped prematurely. The buttons are all really cool but you can hit them by accident very easily. Here are some more cons:
-No PC interface. You need to buy a dock or other accessory to use it with your PC
-Every song on the ipod MUST be on the computer. If you have 500 songs on the computer and put them in your ipod then hook it up to another computer...all the songs are erased.
-You cannot upload songs from the ipod to a computer.
-PRICE!!!! There are so many better mp3 players out there for a fraction of the cost of the ipod and you get more memory and more features.

Overall...get a Dell DJ
