Summary: My tiny tiny camera
Review: I received my POCKETDV2CCS on Monday morning, I immidiatly tore open the package and began playing around with it. I was amazed at the size of the gadget(about the size of a credit card--as thick as a marker.) When I got home from school, I began testing how well this baby could work. Well, it works great in lighted areas, but it works better in dark areas too with the picture funtion flash. But when taking video try to do it in a light place. The camera does come with a function that is supposed to correct this, but it is of no help. My first video was in my living room during a party. On the camera it looked great, nice and bright, even during playback, but when I transfered the movie to my computer, it becomes much darker.I found this to be true every time I tested it. Only for the videos though, using it as a digital camera and transfering to the computer looks great. Also, the software provided was quite hard to use, and doesn't work at times. When I click to play a video, all I hear is sound, but if I open the video from Windows Explorer, or from another program it works great. I just use Windows Movie Maker on Windows XP and this solves that problem. The Battery lasted me a few hours ( around 3.) This camera has amazed and dropped the jaw of everyone who has seen it! Its amazing. I swear I do not regret this purchase.

Summary: Looks amazing for the price
Review: I'm a 10 year old kid who is intrested in buying a good digital camera. This seems like the perfect thing. Features include 1.3 MEGApixels, LCD(or is it LED) screen, built in digital voice recorder, I could go on forever. This little baby seems like the perfect choice for me. I'm trying to buy one on eBay for chaper so anyone who wants to follow in my footsteps may do so. Thanks for reading this.

Summary: Works well... for two weeks
Review: I've had this camera for about 4 months now... It worked great at the beginning... but the speaker stoped working after two weeks (at the moment I thougth it was no problem as long as everything else kept working fine...but it didn't) Now the LCD display has also stoped working and the camera is virtually useless that way 'cause you need the display to access all the camera's functions. I tried contacting Aiptek via email but I've had no reply to any of my emails... awful customer service.
Now I can only use it as a web cam (which by the way makes your image go greenish sometimes) but I guess that for that use you can get a less expensive and better working web camera. I would recomend you invest a hundred dollars more and get a real digital camera.

Summary: Does a lot for the price, but...
Review: I've taken a few good shots. It has a lot of nice features, (Video works good)but wish it was easier take good pictures. The ones that did turn out looked good.
Has a manual focus where you basically have to guess a little bit. Hard to tell if it was in focus until it's on the PC.
No flash and does not take good pictures in indoor or dim lights.
Used up the provided batteries first day. Got NIMh next day.
Internal memory only stores about 10 - 12 pics, that are lost if batteries are removed, so get Compact Flash ASAP.
Had some strange lockups where I had to remove batteries to reset camera.
LCD can be difficult to see in bright sunlight.
So if you get this, get the NIMh and CF card (You will need these for your next digital camera anyway), take a LOT of outdoor pics and you will have a few good enough to frame.

Summary: Great for what it is
Review: If you are looking for a good digital still camera, this is a poor choice. With that in mind, I have a 3 megapixel camera for taking quality stills. However, when you want a camera that you can throw in a bag or a pocket for spontaneous digital movies, you cannot beat this. I got a 256 mb card for it that gives me about 60 minutes of video. We just got back from an overnight trip to San Francisco and I took short movies throughout the day and evening. Everyone was asking about the camera and was amazed that it was so inexpensive and small. It's smaller and lighter than my 3 mp camera and is pretty rugged. It does lack a flash, but again, that would only be useful if you were using it for stills (and to be honest, the still pictures it takes are low quality). The recorded video is 320x240 AVI format with pretty decent sound.

Summary: Don't waste your money
Review: It looks a nice camera but DON'T waste your money and don't waste your time. It is impossible to get a sharp picture with this camera. Besides, if you are able to find a way to make the camera work in connection with you computer, you will have a very bad web camera. I looked through all their tech support, but couldn't find anything useful. I sent a message to the technical support they never answer my questions. I'm very disappointed and I will NEVER, EVER buy anything from Aiptek again.

Summary: good buy
Review: Like it---get a set of Ni-Mh batteries and a large memory card and enjoy. Don't leave the screen on always--ALL digitals will eat batteries driving the screen full-time.Does need good lighting. A small modification lets it do GREAT macro (close-ups)--I can fill a frame with an ant!.Took pic of screw threads (10-32 size screw). No, it's not a $300.00 resolution camera, but you didn't pay $300.00 for it either. I keep mine in the car.If it breaks, I will buy another--have really used mine.

Summary: Great little camera
Review: Overall this digital camera is great for novice users. The camera is very easy to use because of its well-labeled parts and simple menus. With all of the features and for the price, the pictures and movies are great. The only problems that I have found are that the camera has no flash, there are beeps when turning it on that will not shut off in any menu, and without a memory card it does not hold very many pictures. In the end, this is a great, cheep camera for low level to mid level users.

Summary: A bargain!
Review: Perspective is needed when considering this item. It's basically a toy, but one that can take decent stills and with a compact flash card, pretty nice video. I should get a commission from Aiptek, because everyone I've shown it to has bought one. My advice, don't use the internal memory. It tends to be a little flakey and is useless for video. Buy a good 128mb CF card. So far, so good...I'm pleased with this little gadget.

Summary: Excellent value for money.
Review: The 2 MP camera is real - without a flash, pictures taken in dark settings don't turn out well, but for $90 I can forgive the absence of a flash.

Video quality is good. It's a bit surprising that a 1280x960 resolution camera only records video at 320x240x10fps, but then again, based on converting video of different framerates and sizes on a PC, the power necessary to compress video is much more than one can expect to find in a chip inside this small camera. The video which it does record turns out well.

Sound quality is fair, but even having it on a digital camera device is a bonus. It's mono sound, not stereo, but it turns out quite well with the microphone built-in on front of the camera. Playback is similar in quality to recording, using a single built-in speaker on the side, but it's good enough to accurately portray what you recorded.

The LCD screen is nice. Although only 1.4" diagonal, it's enough to preview what you've shot. The built-in menu system is intuitive and easy to use, requiring only a few buttons.

If you get this camera, do get a CompactFlash card. I picked up a 256MB card for about $50, able to store about an hour of video, or about 2.5 hours of audio. Also get rechargeable batteries - as with all digital camera equipment, batteries drain rapidly (a few hours use or less with the LCD on can drain them). The LCD screen can be turned off during use to conserve battery time.

Summary: a very nice package for the price. With a flash this camera would compare well with digital cameras in the $200 range. Sound and video capture boost this way ahead of other similarly priced cameras.
