Summary: nice player
Review: A nice player for the price. Uses a lot of batteries though. The parallel port is a little on the slow side. I would recommend it.

Summary: Important Info for all Audiovox Mp1000 users:
Review: As you probably know Audiovox ran out of the memory cards for this unit! I have tried almost all the sandisk multimedia cards and the 16meg card works. Amazon sells them. This 16meg card allows me to add 3-6 more songs. The sandisk 24 and the 32 meg did not work. I called sandisk and they could not give me an answer. The player is Great, just waiting for the WMA upgrade. I highly recomend this player. The sound is super, headphones good quality and the software is fine. Go download the CDEX 1.3 beta8 mp3 converter. You will be able to reduce the size of you're MP3's with little reduction in sound quality. I liked the windows codec and the 96 Blane code c. Have fun.

Summary: Dont bother
Review: Dont bother getting this MP3 player. Its not Win 2000 or Win XP compatible. I can no longer download music to it. Audiovox has no plans on updating their software to allow future use.

Summary: Shop Around First
Review: I already own the Audiovox Mp3 Player and the only complaint I have is the software that come with it to organize mp3 files. It comes with Real Juke Box, which I found very complicated to use. So finally I just use the software that came my computer, Music Match Juke Box. It made the process of transferring songs from CDs to the player much easier.

Summary: Audiovox MP-1000 Complete Junk
Review: I bought this MP3 players as a Christmas present for my wife. In the 6 months that she has had it, it has been back to Audiovox for repairs twice and now has stopped working again. It is out of warranty and definitely not worth the cost of an out-of warranty repair. I would discourage anyone from wasting money on this player.

Summary: What about WMA?
Review: I like this player except for one big item. It will not play WMA. But if you look at the Audiovox website it promises the ability to play WMA by the end of 2000. Just take a look at the calendar now. I have emailed Audiovox with no response at all. I bought the MP-1000 thinking that it would not be long before I could listen to my streams I recorded using Voquette on the go and have only been let down.

Summary: Will never, ever buy from Audiovox again
Review: I liked the mp1000 until I upgraded to Windows XP, and was astonished to discover that the company will not support it. The device is now worth scrap metal. Customer Support responded with a form letter to the effect that they feel my pain, but drop dead anyway. Philip Christopher, the CEO, did not respond to my letter at all -- probably too busy making deals to bother with solidifying his customer base. Don't waste your hard-earned money on Audiovox products.

Summary: 1 problem
Review: I only found one problem with this player and this is why I didn't give it a 5 star. My LCD screen doesnt work right. Half of the screen doesnt come up Im not sure if its just this player but i have heard from someone else that this happened to them to. If this doesnt clear up im going to send it back. Other than that though its great. The earbuds are surprisinly good. Leather case is nice so it doesnt get messed up in anyway. Very light and small size. The software is also very easy to use. Took me around 5 to 10 minutes to get my mp3s on to the player including installing the software. Very good player for the money
