Summary: Wonderful Product
Review: This is far and away the best mp3 player on the market. I bought a Rio when it first came out. It worked for about two months or so before crapping out on me completely. (power supply went bad) I managed to return it for store credit and got a rave mp when they came out.

I was completely blown away by this one. I've been using it constantly since I purchased it. The interface is fabulous.

I hear the next generation of this will be coming with Iomega Clik disks for memory, which should drive everyone else out of the competition.

Summary: nice player
Review: i have had no problems with my raveMP. the sound quality is as good as can be expected with the mp3 format, and it's small and lightweight. and the comment about not working with W2000... well, last i checked none of the mp3 players worked with 2000/NT. I know you can buy software for the RIO to connect to NT, but c'mom - not working with W2000! there is a long list of stuff that doesn't work with W2000. don't blame the player.

Summary: Great product
Review: I have seen some of the complaints below, and I'm amazed. Nothing has gone wrong for me so far. The sound quality is great. I also like working out at the gym and because there are no moving parts or a CD inside, I can work out listening to my favorite music without any skips or problems.

Being the cheapskate I am, I love being able to download a song without having to buy a whole CD. The microphone feature is also really cool.

Summary: Rave Against the Machine
Review: The Rave MP2100 is in many ways a fine product, but it suffers from two positively bone-headed design flaws:

1. Unlike, say, the Diamond Rio MP3 players, the MP2100 is not compatible with, and doesn't ship with, a parallel-port sharing connector, which means you have to disconnect your printer to use the MP2100. Do you really want to choose between using your printer and using your MP2100?

2. The setup program is not compatible with Windows 2000, and the company that makes the MP2100 doesn't even have any plans to release a Windows 2000 setup program. That means if your PC uses Windows 2000--soon to be standard at almost any large or medium-sized American business--you're going to be SOL with your MP2100.

Both of these problems indicate a fatal lack of customer focus by Sensory Science Corporation, the MP2100's manufacturer. Save your money and buy an MP3 player from a company that actually understands how the average person uses these devices.

Summary: Overall, the best product available
Review: This player can not be beat. It's made by the same company that makes California Audio Labs CD players (high-end audio) and Lowe digital TVs. You're getting the best technology available. Not only does it replay MP3s, but it will save phone numbers and voice messages-how cool is that?

It looks good, it works well (despite reviews to the contrary), and it's backed up by a company with over 10-years experience in giving the best coustomer support available. Check their web page if you don't believe me.

This is the only American manufacturer of consumer electronics, and if you ask me, they're doing a darn good job of it. Including the Senheiser headphones with the Rave MP was brilliant. Obviously, they're not skimping on the paripherals. Remember, it comes down to sound quality-and this unit has the others beat. It's made by an audio company, not a software or microwave company!

Expect the company to relaese several new modcels soon, including one with an FM Radio tuner. I'm glad to have mine, and I'll upgrade when the new ones come out.

Summary: There's better out there
Review: The unit freezes and makes a VERY loud noise too frequently to be used. I dont need my ears blown out by a defective product. The unit also feels cheap and is light on features.

Summary: A word of caution
Review: Back in November, I eagerly purchased a Rave MP 2100. For the next 2 1/2 mos, I couldn't have been happier.

However, In Feb., the device froze up on me, showing the initial Sensory Science screen and that was it. According to the SS FAQ, this symptom is indicative of a loose connector. I sent it back & Amazon agreeably sent a replacement.

The replacement device froze up the same night I opened it. Sent it back and received a third. After a couple of days, it too froze up. After communication with the SS technical support, we found out that it was a particular MP3 file that was causing this freeze-up. They were able to duplicate the problem on their end. However, there was nothing about this file to indicate that it would have caused such a problem.

Needless to say, I send the 3rd one back. Amazon refused to send me a 4th and refunded my money.

I did truly enjoy the Rave MP when it worked. But if one file can cause it to freeze up, I'm sure another one out there could do the same without warning.

Summary: This is a great device.
Review: When I was first thinking of buying an mp3 player about a month ago, I had trouble triing to decide if I should go with the diamond rio (the brand name mp3 player) or if I should look elsewhere. I decided to buy the ravemp not only for the mp3 music but the voice recorder and addressbook features. All I want to say is, I use it everyday.

I'm a student and I can save lecture recordings and notes right into the thing and take it with me. It's great. Not once have I thought I made a mistake buying this device.

Summary: it's even better than its web page says...
Review: Just got one of these after much research and comparison, and reading the reviews here helped very much. I use this for sound recording and data file transfers just as much as mp3 playing. I would like to note that even though the ravemp.com faq and the product manual state that it can only record in mono, in "high quality" mode it actually does record in STEREO from the line-in, and at very decent quality, too! Needless to say I was very pleased to discover this surprise. The line-in and -out are great features, too. Very portable; very low power consumption (1 aa battery = 6-8 hrs!); nice mike built-in; great deal for the 64mb included (don't forget to get the rebate form from their site). One more note: I am very happy i did not spend extra money for a different player with USB, as file transfers with this parralel port model are fine, seem to be faster than my parralel port zip drive and never require a wait of over 5 minutes. Also, despite what their documentation says I was able to get this working with a parralel port splitter! I have had no problems connecting this to a few different computers. So far I am a very satisfied!

Summary: Critical fault in Rave MP
Review: The Rave MP has the best performance, the most features and is the best value to be had, if it works that is. I was really enjoying my Rave MP, but the first time I reformatted the memory (the manual advises doing this periodically) the unit froze up! I thought it had to be something I did. I went to the Sensory Science web site and what I found out was very interesting. Seems my problem is all too common. When I turn the unit on it freezes at the Sensory Sciences screen. Their FAQ states it bluntly, if this happens to you: "THE UNIT IS DEFECTIVE AND WILL NEED TO BE REPLACED". I guess this is a pretty common occurrence, it's in their FAQ's for goodness sake! Still, I'm undecided weather to return it for refund or to exchange. If I do exchange it, the first thing I will do is reformat the memory.
