Summary: A Solid Device
Review: Solid is the word I would use to discribe the 15 GB iPod. It works as advertised. Further, I have had absolutely no problems using it with my Vaio, which was both a surprise and a relief given all the horror stories I've read about PC users experiencing serious compatablity issues.

The only criticsm I have of Apple (or should I say Musicmatch) is that the media player that is included for PC users could have been a little better. Its incredibly slow and its "track tagging" feature doesn't always work the way it should (I've tried Ephpod and it works much better/faster than Musicmatch, but I didn't feel like purchasing a full version of MacOpener in order to use it on a permanent basis). Perhaps with Apple's release of iTunes for Windows (which is supposed to happen by years end), my issues with Musicmatch's media player will be cured.

The only thing I would suggest to any and all prospective purchasers of the iPod who are also PC users is to check and make sure that your iPod functions properly soon after you purchase it. CHECK EVERYTHING, ESPECIALLY THE BATTERY. The battery of the first iPod I bought of this model didn't work. It wouldn't recharge using the adapter it came with - a common problem. Luckily, I was smart enough to purchase the service plan that was offered by the store I bought my iPod from. I brought that iPod back the day after I bought it and the store had to replace it with a new one per the terms of the service plan.

Not much of a review, I know. But like I said, it works as advertised. If you need to know all the things it can do, just read Amazon's review or go to Apple's web page and read all about it.

Summary: Amazing product
Review: Truly a beautiful product, and works flawlessly. I have a Fujitsu PC, and it had all the special USB hardware I needed. When installing do be alert, but even after 2 glasses of wine I could install everything, and then easily synch all cd's. I'm so glad Apple survives to deliver such perfectly crafted electronic tools. A lesson in form and function. It hurt to spend the money but you'll never have buyers remourse with this one.

Summary: Excellent device
Review: Very easy to navigate the interface, and for such a small device it feels very sturdy. ...That said, I can finally imagine a day when I won't own a single CD...

Summary: A great MP3 player
Review: I've had this MP3 player now for about 2 weeks. I love it. The sound quality is excellent, the controls handle well, and the size and weight rock. I reviewed several before deciding on the iPod and I'm not sorry. Why only 4 stars? Like everyone else, I'm not thrilled with the software. It works but that's all I'll say for it. Also, the cost is considerably more then other comparible players. Those are the only downsides that I've found. If you buy it, you wont be sorry.

Summary: Ipod (review from a windows user standpoint)
Review: I have been wanting the Ipod for some time and I finally got one for my birthday. In the time prior to my birthday I was reading the reviews here from windows users saying that that software was completely awful that came with it and hardly worked, so prior to getting my ipod I downloaded ephpod which seemed to be the best program for the Ipod windows users based on the reviews.

So today I get my ipod I hook it up and just for kicks I install musicmatch right out of the package to see how it works. It was an awesome program and unlike the other reviews I was able to connect and load songs onto my ipod seconds after I installed the program. I didnt even have to do any tricky stuff it just worked right out of the box.

I just posted this to say that if your thinking of buying an ipod but your worried about the software, just go for it. Try the software provided first instead of listening to the other reviewers and I think that you will be happy you did.

This is an excellent audio player and I dont think windows users have anything to worry about, even with the overhyped negativity about the software included.

Summary: Great Player but not PC friendly
Review: Received my iPod recently and it took me 2-3 hours to setup. PC took awhile before it recognized the drive. Even after it detected the iPod, I would get messages of unsafe removal of device even though the iPod was still plugged in. (Very frustrating.) I finally figured my dock connector was a little loose. When I plugged the cable to the iPod directly, my problems were slightly solved. When all else fails, just re-boot as my IT guys would say.

I used MusicMatch only because of its volume leveling option. I read elsewhere on Amazon's review that the "Do Not Disconnect" message would not go away. I, too, received this message and got frustrated after a few hours of leaving it plugged in after the transfer was complete. Too solve this problem, just hit the eject button on MusicMatch after the transfers are completed, duh. To be extra careful, right click on the iPod icon in the system tray and hit the unmount iPod selection. After that hit the unplug/eject hardware icon in the system tray to stop the iPod then remove from dock or unplug. MusicMatch works well but takes a little longer to transfer only because I want to volume levelize my music. Moving of music to playlist manually takes a little longer as well. I use ephpod for that.

I also downloaded the recommended free software for the iPod for PC users, ephpod.com. This program is very good. I would use this more if it had a volume leveling option. I do use it to create playlists and move my music to specific playlists.

The player itself is great. It's compact, the backlight is great. Even with all the initial problems, this is a great player! Be patient and take a few minutes to read the operation manual. This product is great but with initial kinks.

Summary: It's Worth It!!!!!!!
Review: I waited a really long time for a mp3 player. I live here in the Middle East and you can't find mp3 players here. I saw the first mp3 player with my uncle. He had a Rio 600. I was really impressed by that. It was 32 MB. lol i still really liked it. That was my first choice...I was about to buy it but then i saw Rio 800. I was about to buy it till i saw Rio Riot. Then the Nomad Jukebox 20G. Then the older iPod 10G. Then the Nomad Zen. By then this new iPod had come out. Finally after like a year this guy brought the new 15G iPod from the states. I was soooooooooo happy. The box was really cool. It was a simple small cube with pictures of the iPod all around.at the bottom were the specs and on the top was the apple sign. i opened it and it was like the box of a ring. on one side was a cd case with all the books in it. and on it there was nothing but one word...ENJOY!!! i opened it and there it was...My new iPod. The dock was small and really nice. But the iPod was the best. it was really beautiful and really very very small compared to any other hard drive mp3 player. AT the back it was all metallic and very clean and at the front...these touch sensitive buttons.i charged it. and then connected it to my computer. i dont really like the software that came with it. very confusing. But i somehow managed. i dont know how to make playlists so i directly added the songs. The speed via firewire is amazing. i dowloaded bout 1100 songs into in less than 4 minutes. and the sound quality is really good. The headphones and the remote which came with it was really good too. except that the remote turned goldenish after a while. i think its not stainless. So i dont use it anymore. The case is really nice...i really like. the iPod fits in it like a glove. But there is this one thing but it doesnt bother me that much. whenever a song changes...there is a little clicking sound. The iPod can be scratched very easily so you have to be careful. the docking station is very useful. The battery life is impressive. and 1 hour to charg is enough. My backligfht color is silver for some reason. in most of the pictures its blue but in mine its silver. i still like it though. The touch buttons and the scroll wheel are the best and soooooooo useful. Scrolling through songs is soooo easy now. You have to keep the hold switch on cuz the buttons are really very sensitive and the most amazing hting is that they're only sensitive to skin lol. The games are nice. The charger is very unique. lol it has a firewire port in it. And the contact book is really very useful. The calender is very useful too but i dont use it. lol . its really easy to find a song because its sorted into the artists and albums. it has equalizers and thats like the best thing. for me RnB is the best setting. Overall the iPod to me is amazing. it has a very futuristic design and its very light and very thin. Just like a deck of cards...but a bit thinner. There are some extra surprises in the box but i'll like u to find them out when u get it. i did pay bout 430 dollars for this cuz that included the tax but it was worth buying it. i listen to it all the time. its always with me. Apple's products are always the best and this is just another example. If you're looking for a good mp3 player...iPod the right one. i know its expensive but i gaurantee that its worth it. i waited all this time and all of this waiting was worth for what i got. i recomend this product highly. Have A Nice Day :-)!

Summary: Don't rely on i.Link!!!!
Review: First off, the functionality of this unit has been well documented by other reviewers, and is simply amazing. With that said, I'm going to made some comments about my experience trying to get it to work with a PC.

I have a laptop with an i.Link (aka 4-pin) FireWire port. Thankfully, included with the package is a small adapter to allow for connection through this port. However (as far as I know), you cannot use this port to charge the iPOD. You have to unplug the FireWire cable from your computer and plug it into the AC adapter thing. So basically, the convenience of having a cradle is completely lost if you rely on i.Link.

There are options. I have USB 2.0 as well, so I'm going to get the nifty dual cable which allows you to charge and sync at the same time as the one input has both USB and FireWire outputs. The only other alternative is to get PC/PCI card with the 6-pin (Mac) FireWire. It's just a shame the original cable isn't a double like the USB one.

With that said, buy it anyways. I was a hardcore MiniDisc fanatic until yesterday; this thing is just cool/useful. Don't cheap out on the 10gb either; the extra carrying case, cradle, and 5gb are well worth the extra hundred clams.

Summary: All That & More!
Review: ... Upon receiving the box from Amazon.com, I did not even want to even attempt to open the Apple box--simply because the neatly packaged device is mesmerizing!

The only minor gripe I had regarding the setting up of the player was the amount of time it took for the included software to be fully installed and formatted onto my Windows PC. But other than that, it was pretty much smooth sailing...

Here are some quick tidbits:
-virtually effortless transition of mp3 files from hard drive to device using MusicMatch (very surprising considering I hate MusicMatch)
-playlist creation is also fairly easy once you get the hang of it
-awesome, and I mean AWESOME blueish-white LCD screen
-handy dandy clock (w/alarm) and calendar settings
-the innovative touch-buttons are simply amazing!

With this latest Apple innovation you get all that it's worth and much, much more. This is undeniably the best mp3 player out on the market today.

Summary: If your having trouble with musicmatch try XPlay
Review: I suggest to all windows users to get XPLAY. It works great with the IPOD and hasn't given me any problems. My first Ipod broke down...the battery wouldn't charge but, apple was so amazing that they changed it no problem in less than a week!!! They even paid for shipping both ways! This device goes everywhere with me, and now that I have the iTrip too, there is not one radio in anyones car or house that I can't play my songs in...plus it fists nicely in my purse. It is the work of geniuses!
