Summary: Great Product
Review: I am very pleased with the ipod itself and it's very sleek design. Do yourself a favor and do not use ipod w/ musicmatch. Do yourself a favor and download ephpod from ephpod.com and then you will enevr regret it.

Summary: Love at first Byte( This Apple sure tastes good!!)
Review: I bought my iPod day before yesterday, and today, someone came up to me and asked me whether this was the 20 GB model, "No", i told him,"This is the 3rd Generation iPod".. and a lot of oohhh and ahhhhhs later, this guy, who admitted to already owning an iPod decided he was getting the new one too.
Ok so it looks really good.. but what can it do? Well, let me start with the MOST important aspect of ALL mp3 players, the installation process. Having installed an archos jukebox and more recently, nike max, i was expecting the worst... but.. i mean... this was the SMOOTHEST installation EVER!! So smooth that i am not sure whether the iPod is registered for warranty and all that stuff!! Makes you wonder what microsoft can do if apple takes it over. Fortunately, my laptop has a firewire interface, so i got to see how slow USB can be.. it took almost no time to copy 2 MP3 CDs onto the iPod, compared to the rest of the stuff out there.
The controls are really sensitive, so i keep it in the case it came with, because the slightest touch will set it playing.. but 'feather touch' is a good thing right?
Go check it out at the local best buy/compusa, and you'll be hooked! But buy it online, you'll get a really good price, [money amount] is too steep. And DONT get the 10 Gb model, which doesnt come with the remote and the docking bay.

Summary: Shift of the paradigm.
Review: In what has to be the slickest execution of a new piece of hardware yet, this Apple-linked but PC-compatible product will make all portable music players obsolete in no time flat. I have been following trends in this area for a long time, and my last big MP3 player investment was in a SONICblue Jukebox. Wow, how fast things evolve! That machine, cutting edge 2 years ago, had a 6 gig hard drive and allowed only for rather slow uploading of music through its balky software interface via a USB 1.0. In addition, its organizational abilities were limited.
The iPod is about 1/10 the size of the old Jukebox, absolutely ultra high tech looking, with backlighting that awes and controls that work intuitively, and it uploads easily through its firewire cradle or a USB 2.0 (optional) connection.
Music can be categorized and recalled quickly, with the scroll control making it all simple to access.
Sound quality is awesome, its earbuds light years ahead of anything similar. Capacity is incredible (the 15 gig unit will hold 3,700 songs, the 30 gig unit twice that number!) and battery life is just fine. The cradle will recharge and synch the unit to your PC, but I bought the optional car charger for longer road trips. I also bought the FM transmitter that attaches neatly to the unit and allows you to play the iPod through your stereo sans wires, though the cassette adapter works better for that purpose.
A word about Apple's customer service: WOW! I ordered the unit on a Sunday, with the additional $ for custom engraving on its silver back. In an hour I got an email that my order was being processed, and in 6 hours I got an email that it had shipped! The email included a tracking link, and I watched it move from Taiwan across the world in 2 days. I got it on Tuesday evening (!) and it was factory sealed/shrink wrapped and in fine condition. When I opened it (even the packaging is high tech) and took it out of its protective inner wrapper, I was delighted to find the engraving was there and was done just perfectly.
If delivering a great product and offering perfect service is to be lauded, Apple must be given the highest kudos possible.

Summary: I Switched and I'm not Ashamed !
Review: After reading all the horror stories about using iPods with PCs (I am a Dell PC user), I broke down and bought a little 12" iBook to use with my new 15GB iPod. Kind of cart before the horse, I know, but the iBook is soooo cool and looks like the iPod was made for it. It was pretty easy to get music into the iPod altho the documentation (paper and electronic) for both items blows hard--especially when you don't know Mac OS X or iTunes, or any other Apple esoterica. But, just opening the iPod box is like a religious experience; I would have preferred a little less design and a little more documentation, but hey, it was a learning experience. Could also have done without the patronizing "Don't Steal Music" sticker. Love my iBook, love my iPod, love my credit card.

Summary: Einstein you have to be but
Review: once you have digested the flimzy How to use booklet which takes a few days you are on the road to easy recording and listening to the music that you want.
Version 3 is nice but still of course designed mainly for Apple. I hav a PC, functions like call cards and calendars do not seem to work properly unless I have not understood the instructions.
Whatever the problemns it remains easy for music and a very beautiful piece of computer technology

Summary: Now, this is *wonderful* design
Review: I've had my 15GB iPod for a week now and am impressed with both the seamless ease of synchronization of music, *as well as* the ability to download/store my address book from Entourage, my calendar from the Palm Desktop, text notes that I made and a large graphics file.

Perhaps more importantly, the ease of use is such that both my wife and my sister, who are the most tech-phobic people I know, were using and having fun with the iPod *with NO instruction* from me. Seriously folks, this is a well-designed product, from the backlighting, to the construction, to the actual menus.

Sound quality is great when played through my stereo, using the supplied headphone and even using the iSplitter (from Monster), so that two people can listen.

There's a fair amount written about the iPod.

Now, in the interest of full disclosure, I am using a Macintosh with my iPod.

Summary: Amazing!!!! For Apple Users. Now how do I get my guarantee?
Review: I bouqht the 15 gb ipod and it arrived right on time. Beautiful, I couldn't wait to download all my songs. Then hell hit. Windows users beware! Music Match is terribe. Under artists I ended up with the same artist title 5 times for many of my songs. Then my idpod began to freeze. Then I was told by the music match people that the software required upgrades. Then the machine froze permanently. The few days the machine worked, it was amazing. Headphones sound is great, connects to my home stereo like a dream. I am very depressed I live in another country and ordered through Amazon. Paid the import duties and freight. Now I have a frozen piece of art and no idea what to do...

Summary: 15gb IPOD
Review: This thing is amazing. I have nearly 3000 songs on it and the quality of the sound is great. The design is futuristic and space age. The IPOD turns heads when people see it.

Sure, you pay a little more for Apple, but you pay for amazing quality and ease of use.

Long live Apple and the IPOD. (I own a PC and use the IPOD with my PC and it works great.)

Summary: It took a week to figure out, but...
Review: It's the coolest toy I've ever had. The hook-up took two trips to CompUSA to get the right card for my PC. Then it took an additional 5 days to figure out how to understand, first of all, that my PC could even "see" the ipod. Once I figured out how to use the cradle and how to know if my PC recognized the ipod, it took another 2 to 3 days of fiddling with the software to figure it out. Once I caught on, it was well worth the effort. This truely changes how I will 'acquire' music from now on. This may be the beginning of the end of CD burners and paying $17.99 for a CD at Border's.

Had I used the expertise of my 18 yr old son earlier, I might have figured it out sooner. But, I'm no dummie and it took some patience working thru all the variables as to why it didn't work intially. Great product!! I look forward to seeing what else the wizards at Apple will come up with.

Summary: You cannot beat the iPod
Review: There is really no way to overemphasize what an elegant, well-designed and thought out product the iPod is. I have it connected directly into my car stereo and my commutes are that much more pleasant without having to make sure I have some CDs with me. I haven't even made custom playlists for my commute yet but when I do it will be that much better.
If you love music and want it portable all other products fall short of the iPod.
