Summary: I did the homework.....You just buy it!
Review: Dollar for dollar, this unit can't be beat. I listened to the higher priced units as well as the lower priced ones. At $169.99 you can't get a better sound. I spend a lot of time on boats and beaches along North Carolina's coast and this box is the answer. Of course it's not indestructable but with a little common sense and carefull handling this box should serve you many years. As for Amazon.com I've got nothing but good things to say. I actually drove 37 miles to the nearest JVC dealer and they couldn't even come within $25.00 of the price. Yea' I know...I spent money just driving that far but being new to computer shopping I just wanted to prove a few things to myself. Amazon.Com delivered in 5 days right to my front door and in a weatherproof jacket to boot! My credit card number seems to be safe as well as the personal info I supplied. No one has hasseled me or bombarded me with advertizements either. Bottom line to all this? Buy it and buy it thru Amazon.Com!

Summary: It's good, but not perfect.
Review: Don't be fooled by the other reviews if you are looking for supreme performance. If you are looking for a good portable boombox, then this is definately the best option. If you are searching for true sound, you are far from it here. While the bass is resonant, it is hardly consistent with the rest of the equalization, not to mention quite muddy. Don't use the ACS feature. It just makes the sound blotchy. I purchased one and am satisfied, but i still wouldn't agree with those reviewers proclaiming this machine as one to be worshipped. Also, while being one of the sturdiest boomboxes available, it is still quite fragile.

Summary: Super Sound
Review: Finally I found a boombox that runs off 12V car battery. Now I can play it in my camper with great base and sound. I just wouldn't want to have to carry it to far tho. It is heavy. But the sound makes up for it.

Summary: Nice machine, for the price
Review: For Amazon's price, this is a good deal. I am satisfied with the performance of this stereo, and it looks cool (which is why I bought it). PROS: 52 watts (split between 4 amplifiers), the subs deliver deep, clear bass at all volume levels. Even turned up all the way there is little to no distortion. I liked the fact that the tape deck has full logic controls (although I don't regularly use cassettes). CD player is very good quality - plays all my scratched CDs and home made CD-R's that other players wont. The remote is convinent as well. It has a stereo mini jack AUX input that I am using for my computer. Games sound GREAT on this thing. CONS: The active clear sound feature is a joke - they should have just used a regular loudness feature instead. Unit has 4 preprogrammed sound modes - I would rather have independent bass and treble controls. Doesnt include batteries for remote control and memory backup. Only runs on 120V 60Hz U.S. power (a problem if you go overseas). Overall, though, a very good deal.

Summary: Excellent product, great buy!
Review: I bought this for my 17 year old son, but I would now like to keep it for myself! Seriously, your on line reviews were so good good I had to see what all the rave was about, now I know. I called my husband into the room after I plugged it it in and we both could not believe our ears. I can't wait for our son to open this gift and try it out on Christmas day. I'm very pleased, worth the money and more!

Summary: An Amazing Product Unfortunately Discontinued
Review: I first experienced this monster on Labor Day '99 out in the Hamptons. All weekend long I could hear and feel the bass beat through my hotel room floor. I figured someone must have brought a big rack system or something. Boy was I wrong! When I finally made it downstairs, I see an RV-B90! NO WAY! I knew then and there I would eventually get one. This thing ROCKS! Nothing I have ever seen in a portable could touch it. After searching the web, I see Amazon has it for much less than anyone else! I bought it immediately and I am completely satisfied. This box will rock the block this summer..............

Summary: Good Bass and Highs; Low Midrange
Review: I gave this unit 4 stars because it is a reasonable value for the price (unlike the RV-B99BK). I modified the unit so I could play my bass through it while playing CDs. Due to the digital design, the modification was not trivial. Construction is mostly plastic, with a number of computer-style circuit boards connected with fragile ribbon cables. Not as rugged as I would expect. The CD and tape are not all that well protected against dust. The CD player is VERY sensitive to jarring; it will skip if you walk with it. Instead of a conventional crossover, they place steel weights on the woofers. Novel. The bass is strong enough for me to use as a bass amp when playing with several acoustic guitars. (Positive comments from listeners.) The electronics features (via remote) are impressive, and the FM tuner works well; AM is less impressive.

Summary: worth every penny
Review: I got this baby for Christmas and it's great. It beats out much more expensive systems and this is just a boombox! The bass; it's there, trust me. It has 1 - 6 volume control for the bass alone. I usually listen on 4 or 5. 6 is just sick! I get scared when it's on 6 because I fear it will explode. The regular volume control goes from 1 - 50. To rock an average sized room 35 is more than enough. It is easily heard anywhere throughout the house through the walls. But the best thing of all here is the price! 169.99. It's seriously well worth the money. Comes with a remote control too! But there isn't any headphone input which is a minor downfall.

Summary: Best Boombox Ever!
Review: I have a great deal of professional audio equipment and quality sound counts with me. This Boombox delivers! Don't waste your money on anything else. I already have. It is rugged and feature packed. Basically it kicks @$$!!!
