Summary: 3Com Connects You to the World
Review: I have been very pleased with the performance and from what I have seen of the other Internet cameras out there this one has to be the best.

It has some really nice features that separate it from the rest:

· Automatic aperture adjustment so you always have the correct lighting regardless of how much light is in the room. When you have just the right mix of light the color is impressive.

· Small size about the size of a cassette tape.

· Light in front indicates camera is active.

· Manual focus knob on the front to get a clear image and is really good on close-ups up to an inch away.

· No external power is required as the unit gets its' power from the USB bus.

· Button on front to take an instant picture.

· The software allows for six different image size formats and six different image color formats.

I didn't have any problems setting up the camera as I followed the instructions that came with the unit.

All around it is a very good camera for the Internet but it certainly is not near the picture quality level of the mega pixel digital cameras.

Summary: The first and still the best!
Review: When my husband and I first started my website (Feb. 28, 1998), we used a connectix webcam (those silly looking round ones. giggle). Our image was poor and well, it didn't look too good (even though the subjects were fabulous! smirk). A reporter contacted us and then sent us a ViCom webcam. The ViCom was easy to set up. Easy to install. And the quality of the pictures were WOW! Perfect images!

My husband and I are the most watched couple on the internet (says the NY Times and others). We use this camera 24 hours a day and 7 days a week. We travel with this camera. We have put this camera outside our window during a parade in the rain and it still works today! This camera works well with webcam 32. REAL VIDEO's are easy as pie with this camera. Have you guessed? ViCom camera is now The 3Com HomeConnect PC Digital Camera and the price was much higher than it is now. As a matter of fact... The price for this camera is a bargain.

If I want to do anything in life, I want to do it well. The 3Com HomeConnect PC Digital Camera let's me worry about my life instead of the worry of how to capture it.

special note: Make sure you purchase the lens Pack. Very important for being creative.

examples of The 3Com HomeConnect PC Digital Camera picture quality. Please keep in mind... I'm not a professional photographer, I only play one on the internet.

Summary: Great PC Camera - Works smoothly with Adobe 5.0 products
Review: I was nervous buying this camera as I had read horror stories of how people couldn't get to install this on their computers. But I was hooked to this camera's response to low light and went ahead and bought it. I made sure I stuck to the installation sequence (software tests first, installs drivers and then you hook up the camera on reboot) and it worked! Not only that this is a twain compatible device and I got it to work smoothly with Adobe Photoshop 5.0 and Premier 5.0. This deal is worth the risk. Picture and video quality is really good and even better than the ones that come out of the SGI video cameras (supposedly the graphics powerhorses).

Summary: Not for the novice.
Review: This may be a great video camera -- I wouldn't know. I have had this thing for a week and have spent hours and hours trying to figure out how to video conference with it. The instructions which come with the product are minimal at best -- oh, it is easy to install - but what good is a lifeless camera. You would think that setting up video conferencing would be easy - but, I wouldn't know and I am about ready to toss the thing into the rubbish. I had actually hoped to use this camera, silly me. So now I will be bugging everyone I know who might know something of how to use it as the manufacturers certainly didn't have novices in mind. It shouldn't have to be so difficult.

Summary: Best video camera for the price
Review: I was skeptical about purchasing this camera. But, boy Oh boy, when I got it, I plugged it in and the picture was clear and I was amazed at it's capabilities. It is also a close range camera and it does well on long range video shots. I mounted the camera on the back of a basketball hoop at my college, NMSU, and ran a 100ft USB cable from the camera to my laptop. The picture was great! I could make out numbers on jerseys as I watched the game from behind the wall at the booth I was working at. This camera is a great buy and I would recommend it to anyone. Summary: Great pictures for a Webcam
Review: If you need a camera that takes higher quality, and higher resolution photos in all kinds of light, you will need this camera. The 3Com HomeConnect has remarkable low-light capability. I use it as a "weather cam." It is pointed out the window of my office in Edinburgh, Indiana where it adapts well to everything from bright sunlight to ambient street lighting at night. Unlike most Webcams, this one features a resolution as high as 640x480. I also like the long, detachable USB cord. Another plus is the easy setup utility. Basically, all you do is put the CD in the drive and it tells you onscreen what to do next. It's so simple! Just don't plug the camera into the USB port before the program instructs you to do so. It's not the least expensive camera on the market, but the extra price gets you a much better camera than the average Webcam.

Summary: Excellent camera, but expect no help from 3com
Review: Pros: It's actually a relabled Vicam, which has been favorably reviewed in the past. Excellent low light performance. Detachable USB cable is easily replaced with a longer one. Comes with an unregistered copy of webcam32 which is an excellent program for putting your camera on the web.

Cons: Apparently 3com now owns the product, so expect no driver updates and no useful customer support.

Summary: Easy to set up. Handles low light/back lit conditions well.
Review: This camera was easy to set up with USB connection. Handles low light and back lit situations very well. Better than Kodak. I was up and running on Netmeeting in less than 30 minutes from beginning of installation to first conversation.

Summary: GREAT webcam!
Review: WOW! I'm impressed! And I live in Hollywood CA, the land of people who are no longer impressed by much of anything ;-) I have several other cameras of various sorts. They're mottled, grainy, washed out, and in general just nasty. Heck, I'd even be embarrassed to put YOUR picture on it :-) But the 3Com picture is different. This thing has a professional quality picture, and the utilities have more adjustments than an Enron finaincial statement.

Even though 3com discontinued it, the camera, lens kit (wide, closeup, telephoto), and software that actually <gasp!> works are available from http://www.vividcommunications.com
My one gripe right now is that I can't get the frame speed high enough in low light, but I'm sure it can be done with the right tweaks (so anyone - HELP!)
