Yusuke wins his life back, with some help from Kayko and Botan, and Koenma makes him a "spirit detective," assigned to tracking down evil spirits prowling the human world. His transformation from selfish thug to good guy continues, but not without some false steps when he returns to his old junior high school and rowdy habits. The two-part adventure that comprises episodes 5 and 6 pits Yusuke against three powerful demons that have stolen enchanted objects from Koenma's treasury. He defeats his foes with a mixture of daring, imagination, luck--and kindness. However, he's better at fighting demons than at explaining the presence of the pretty Botan to Kayko. Yusuke suggests a cross between Goku (Dragon Ball Z) and Gene Starwind (Outlaw Star), and his appeal has made Yu Yu Hakusho ("Poltergeist Report") a favorite among otaku.
